Citysearch Editorial Review – Founded in April 2008 by co-owners Amelia Finau and Lauren Giblin, Adara Spa purveys a slew of beauty services in a modern, petite, industrial-chic space on Lewis Wharf. Located in a building that was once a harborside shipping warehouse, the spa’s exposed brick and wooden ceiling beams exude a loft-esque grittiness that’s juxtaposed by calming grey-sage walls and potted orchids. Adara makes the most of its 350 square feet between a pillow-fluffed perch in the back for nail services (a custom foot sink is lined with sole-soothing stones) and a private room for services like facials, waxing, massage, slimming systems and non-surgical face lifts.
Fabulous Facial and Mani-Pedi! – I got a facial and a mani-pedi last Tuesday at Adara Spa and both were so great that I don't even know where to begin my review.
I got an Oxygen facial at an absolute steal because of the specials this season (please call and check them out!) and it was the most relaxing facial I've ever had. I was literally soothed to sleep by the massaging of my face, neck and shoulders. Even the extraction was gentle and that's HUGE for someone like me. When I woke up my skin was soft, supple and moisturized, and when I walked my face was tight, dry (to the point of being flaky) and my pores were extremely clogged. Not only did my face feel different, it looked different and now it's brighter and clearer.
The mani-pedi was an absolute treat. I used to get manicures much more often, but I stopped because I felt like they were a waste of time and money. My problem is usually with manicures. The polish would usually chip within a few days. I'm typing this review a week later and my nails still look fabulous. This is after typing daily for hours, cleaning the house, swimming, washing dishes, doing laundry, setting up a yard sale, barbecuing, and washing my hands several times a day. I wish I could take a picture of my nails, because they have never lasted this long, and because I plan to keep the polish on for the rest of the week.
I love Adara Spa. I went in before I flew home from a weekend trip to Boston and I really wish there was one near me. The ladies of Adara Spa are sweet, friendly, professional and extremely helpful. Adara Spa is less than 15 minutes from the airport, and while I left the spa in time to make my flight, I drove in the wrong direction. I didn't know who else to call, so I called the spa and was cheerfully directed to the airport and made my flight with a few minutes to spare. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Boston and I won't leave without taking a trip to Adara Spa.
Best New Spa – I've been going here for several months. Everything I have done is great. I really love their pedicure rooms and the specialized facials they do The staff always takes their time and is professional and interested in me as a person. I love the atmosphere that is comfortable yet stylish. I just had my first inch loss treatment and am really excited because I lost a total of 4.5 inches the first session. An added bonus is the prices are great . Try this place you'll love it!
EXCELLENT MANICURE & PEDICURE – This spa has a extremely hip and cool environment! I love the staff. They are professional and friendly! It was a pleasure to have Mai as my Nail Tech and she is GREAT! This is by far the best manicure/pedicure I have had. I highly recommend this spa to all!
Worst brazilian wax EVER.. – I went to Adara for a brazilian wax. Ive had many brazilians before, but at another salon. My first impression of Adara was that it was cheap looking yet was pricey. for 50 dollars i should be getting a good wax from a professional. i think the girl was not that experienced. she trimmed for a long time then began to wax.. she waxed over and over spots that she waxed before, which hurt SO bad. it hurt so bad I had to end the session early with only having half done. now i have gotten waxes before and it never was this bad. she never applied pressure to the area after ripping the wax off instead she just waxed more and more which was extremely painful. i do NOT suggest this place at all. also, after one hour gone by and still only half way done i told her to stop because it hurt too much. when i finally looked down i was bruised and just about bleeding with hair left all over my legs. please save your skin and money and go across the street to Joi salon, where i usually go. they're great and quick. i though Adara would be the same but not even close.
Fantastic inch loss results! – This is a beautiful, warm, comfortable spa in the North End. I had the Araysis inch loss treatment done and lost 6.25 inches the first session! There was 1.5 inches lost on each thigh (my problem area) plus additonal inches from my derriere. I'm thrilled. I was able to fit into jeans that I couldn't wear before. I love the place, the staff is professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. The manicure and pedicure I had done was also topnotch. I've tried many spas and I know I will be a regular here. I would recommend it to everyone!
