Bad Service – I wanted to like this place, they seem to have a great selection of bikes and the staff seem nice. But their service department was a disappointment. Would recommend having your repairs done elsewhere.

Austin's Best Bike Shop! – My husband and I have rented bikes from many bike shops over the years and have NEVER experienced such incredible customer service in our lives! It started when we were still at home. We placed our bike rental order over the internet and immediately got an email back asking for the dimensions of our current bikes. We then got additional emails asking what kind of pedals we wanted, etc.... When we got to Mellow Johnny's, perfectly fitted bikes and helmets were waiting for us.

We did the Friday afternoon organized ride and were so impressed with the friendliness of the ride leader! Then we left the bikes there and got them again on Saturday morning to ride by ourselves. The staff remembered our names and went out of their way to suggest routes, restaurants, etc...

Mellow Johnny's also has clean showers and lockers - and we were even offered towels to use! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this bike shop and its staff!

An Amazing Shop with Amazing Sales People – I will admit, I was pretty shocked by these 2 previous comments. I had the complete opposite experiance when I went to Mellow Johnnys. I have never experianced teh lever of professionalism in a bike shop as i got at MJ's. The sales people were amazing and actually took teh time to explain bikes to a complete rookie like me.

I never once got a cold shoulder when I told them I was new to bikes and wanted a a entry level bike. They treated me like I was there buying a $8000 race bike. I was shocked ..... they actually cared about me and not just my wallet.

I will be a frequent customer of this shop for years to come.

Bikes are pleasant, but employees... – I am far from a hard-core biking enthusiast, so perhaps I'm just not Mellow Johnny's preferred clientele, but hey, I would have been willing to pony up for a few of their more decorative, cheaper (read: less than $600) bikes. But I have yet to be so completely ignored by employees in any bike shop, of the fairly large number that I've visited in the past couple of weeks in the course of my search. God knows they weren't doing anything productive, either-loudly razzing one another behind the counter. I feel like for most people, a bike is a big enough purchase to merit the right to a minute of the apparently all-too-copious time of the Spandex-wearing yuppies behind the counter. Naturally, I left after about 5 minutes of waiting to be helped, and would not recommend this place to anyone.

So much for a "real" bike store, aren't you rich enough Lance? – For some reason, after reading the publicity about the store and hearing about it, I thought it was going to be different. I was shocked. I've been on a bike since a tiny kid and racing since the mid 80s. Well, I expected Lance's new shop, since he's got his fame and fortune, to give back to the cycling community. Most of the cyclists I know have tight budgets and some don't even have a car or crappy ones if they do. They love cycling but don't have a lot of money, they are true die hard cyclists (not some guy who buys an expensive bike that sicks in his garage.) And they are always riding, commuting or having fun on a bike. So I go into Lance's store and let me just say, that if you don't live in Westlake or have a Mansion on the lake somewhere or you live in a fancy gated community, you won't be able to shop there.

What the heck Lance? I guess you were never poor. Don't you have enough money now? Stuff in your store was priced even more than the suggested retail prices. I don't get it. Way to make a shop for rich people and kick the real cyclists in the nads. We work all day and get our balz busted and just want to go ride, and then we think we have a store that caters to us real cyclists and no! another kick for us, Lance. Way to go buddy. I expected a "real" grass roots bike store that loved real cyclists, I was utterly disappointed.
