Bread Pudding Fiasco – Banana Pudding Fiasco- Our party came in today for a lovely Easter Brunch at my recommendation. I had been in two weeks ago for dinner, lovely, Larry was our server, excellent experience at which I noted the Easter Brunch. Our server Robin was marginal at best, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt as it was busy. All was going very well, food was excellent, again service spotty but nonetheless we were enjoying ourselves. As you know we ordered our dessert at the beginning and we took notice when we saw large numbers of Banana Pudding pouring into the dinning room and suspected there might be an issue.

Sure enough Robin returns at the appointed time with the bad news, only 3 Banana Puddings remained, so we parsed those out to the appropriate people at our table and those of use who had ordered Banana Pudding choose an alternate. Moments later Robin returned with the bad news that those 3 where gone. Strange as they went floating by in the hands of the guy in the Lavender Shirt, the MANAGER, over to the table seated after us and for his friends. I called Robin on the obvious at which she rolled her eyes at me.

So I asked to speak to the manager. No manager ever came over, worse Robin who we had an issue with advised us that in lieu of the desserts 20% was being taken off the bill but of course 20% was being added for the gratuity. Understanding the need to tack on 20% on large parties, it just does not work when the issue is the service.

In short, very disappointed, will not return which is a shame as the food and the atmosphere is good, but the service and the lack of courtesy shown by the manager blowing us off is enough to leave a bad taste in our mouth. Knowing the One Arts project has struggled including SD, it is a pity that soon there will be yet another empty space for lease.

Shockingly horrible custoemr service – I called to book a January brunch in November for 20+ people to celebrate my daughter's baptism. I was assured the day was open and put in touch with the event coordinator to work on the menu – which we did. Two weeks before the brunch (and after invitations had gone out) the Screen Door emailed me to let me know management decided to close on Sundays . . . but "I could still do my lunch if I paid the $3,000 minimum." Wow, thanks. My guests were as shocked as I was at the behavior but thankfully, St. Martin on Greenville was able to accommodate us at the last minute and the day was beautiful all around. No thanks to the Screen Door.

Overpriced – Well if you are in the mood for $50 chicken and waffles you have come to the right place. Service is rude and food is horrible!! I asked for a manager and got no one!!! Try Dali across the street for a good experience

The Screen Door A Moment in Time – What could be better than a beautiful comfortable setting and dining on "Comfort" foods? Screen Door One Arts Plaza gives way to a pleasant time of dining southern style meaning lingering at the table having conversation and enjoying your meal with out being rushed to have another table turned. Some of the best wait staff that has worked with Stephan Pyles to Dean Fearing will be at your service. Let's not forget about the bar, specialty cocktails that will make you giddy and homemade lemonade to bring you back to when you were five years old at grandma's house. Desserts are truly a treat from peanut butter cookies to sweet potato pie. Oh by the way the duck is sweet and juicy best i have had yet! Come on by and sit for a spell and relax!

falls short – Great atmosphere and decor and thats about it. Horrible service, overpriced menu, and though the food is great, don't be shocked when you get slapped with an 82$ bill for one entree that your server didn't even bother to tell you about! i'll try tei an next time.

Downtown soul food with an upscale twist finds a home in Dallas' new One Arts Plaza. – In Short
The immaculate dining room looks like a modernized set of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" plus a sleek bar and plenty of homey touches like sepia-toned photographs in the bathroom. Touting a menu that even "Grandma" would love, Screen Door promises to reawaken childhood memories through old-style and innovative southern cuisine. Items are divided into "Then" and "Now" categories with catfish, grits, and meatloaf contrasting lobster pot pie (market price near $80), bass, and seared duck.
