Brooklyn Ice House

Sit in the backyard while you sip beers and devour pulled pork sandwiches at this comfy Red Hook bar. The four dollar PBR and shot of Evan Williams deal is the perfect after-work relaxer.

Brooklyn Ice House

A great local bar with surprisingly great bar food and may have one of the best onion rings in town.

Deep in nautical Red Hook, a woodsy dive comes back to life with killer BBQ and dirt-cheap beer. – In Short
The lamentably departed Pioneer Bar-B-Q has been revived as a welcoming neighborhood dive that feels transported from the Old West. Rustic wood and nearly pitch-dark lighting announce the Ice House as a serious drinking establishment, and the suds don't disappoint: More than 30 bottles and cans, from Belgium's Duvel to two-buck Carling Black Label, combine with drafts (like $3 Yuengling) to provide imbibing options for laid-back bar-goers both flush and broke. When folks are suitably liquored up, out come board games like Connect Four.

Hits: Bring a couple twenties and a posse of pals, and you'll enjoy a cost-effective eve of pulled-pork sandwich-eating, inebriation and warbling along to indie-rock and country tunes with wild abandon.

Misses: Reaching Red Hook is a pain in the rump, and unless you're a local returning home requires a cab--especially after you've belted back a few beers. Also, vegetarian-friendly vittles would be welcome.
