Thank you Pik A Pup – My boyfriend and I have always talked about getting a puppy and when he moved into a place that allows dogs we were excited to start looking. We went to buddy dog and I got absolutely heart broken over a dog that wasn't marked as being adopted we really wanted to take her home with us. Ontop of that even if we could have her theres a huge process to get "oked" to own her. A co worker of mine recommended this place to us when I told her what happened with B.D. We looked on their website and saw they had a sheltie! The next day we went to meet this little puppy and she was perfect. The staff takes great care in their puppies, they ask you do not touch the puppies until you have washed your hands and then you can meet the ones you would like to. The owner was very nice and answered all of our questions thoroughly. He recommended products to take home with her and even gave us her pedigree so NO she is NOT a puppymill puppy. We had her for a week or so and they called to see how she was adapting to her new home. She was 12 weeks exactly the day we took her home and now she just turned 7 months! She is a wonderful, loving puppy and we can't thank Pik A Pup enough!
Very Good Place! – My boyfriend of 6 years and I decided that we wanted to get a puppy. We searched far and wide and checked out many shelters (which had age requirements and the process just seemed so tedious) and finally came across Pik-A-Pup. Being from Boston, we drove the 40 minutes down and were so pleased by what we saw. The runs where the puppies were were so clean and spacious! All of the puppies were barking and wagging their tails. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We knew we wanted a fairly big dog and we knew they had 3 labs. After playing endlessly with this adorable male yellow lab, we knew he was the one. We have had our puppy, Titan, for a couple months now. We adopted him at 9 weeks and now he's just a week away from being 5 months! He is absolutely gorgeous and we have had ZERO health problems with him. He was potty-trained in a week, knows sit, stay, paw, drop and lay down and I haven't heard him bark once! Which is amazing for a lab puppy! The only thing he chews is his toys which we are very grateful for and his temperament is amazing. He loves other dogs and is extremely friendly. Overall, we are very very pleased with Pik-A-Pup. They were as good as their word and we even have up to a years worth of reimbursement for genetic problems which is quite the reassurance. I would recommend this place to anyone. The people are honest and really take care of their puppies. We can't wait to enjoy Titan for 15 more years!
All the best – This place is great. They hire enthusiastic, knowledgeable people who totally love there pups and want them to be happy and healthy. Each employee I have found to have definite theories about what is good and not good for your new pup. It should be acknowledged , should be taken as "strongly viable" information. Sometimes I get conflicting info due to this, because pet health and pet psychology is still a developing science, What I love is the passion and the interest they have in imparting their understanding. Their advisement has helped me a lot with the rearing of my puppy i purchased from them(my first one!).
Also, I want to say that, after comparing prices between other kennels, you can definitely find better prices.
Great Place for a puppy – I stopped in A few days ago. It was about 10 in the morning, The kennel staff were in the middle of cleaning. It was nice to see them scrubbing the walls and all. Not just changing the poopey stuff, They seamed to really care about the cleanness of the cages the pups were in. Well not really cages more like large runs, they called them i think. I wasn't sure of what breed i wanted, and a girl there helped explain the trats of the ones i liked. I decide to go home and do reserch. i dont want to get the wrong puppy for my 1st dog.. But i will go back to the kennel when im ready.
LOVING – Pik A Pup Kennel in holliston, MA On August 3,2009, we revisited , Pick-a-Pup after seventeen years! For all those years, we have enjoyed and loved our Toodles"the Poodle" and Max,our Bichon/Poodle...what joy they gave us! Dieing within a few weeks of each other(WOW! 17 years in dog years made them how old?) we were totally devastated and depressed...to honor them, we thought, why wait to get another puppy? The house seemed so empty and too quiet! A call to Pick-a-Pup had Leah describing a 5 1/2 month old female Bichon...a few days later, another call and this time , Tina described this little sweetie...off we went after conversing with you, Barry, about the "details"of shots, contract issues, etc.Tina's "Sweetie" has become OUR sweetheart...born on Valentine's Day,she has been christened "Ma Cherie"...It is important for you to know (and new dog owners) that after getting a thorough checkup at our vet, the doctor noted how relaxed and calm Cherie was...so noted due to the loving care she received from you and your staff! Given a complete bill of health with all shots/worming,etc in perfect order...it was off to the groomers(Pampered Pet-Home of Champions-in Paxton,Massachusetts)...again a very calm and sweet-tempered young lady...MORE praises for Pick-a-Pup! Thank you and congratulations for offering "First Class" Puppies..it is obvious you take pride in and love you animals! Without question, we recommend Pick-a-Pup...more than patient with our questions...clean...professional...It should also be noted that we researched many other puppy places but were always drawn back to Pick-a-Pup!!! Bob,Pat and Cherie
To explain the truth – I Am the person who bought the puppy stated below and.. I just want to say we did not pay any higher for the puppy, We paid the same asking price as you were quoted. Don't be mad just beacuse you missed out on a great puppy..and now trying to make them sound bad.. The kennel is great the staff is great and the prices are good.. I did not pay any x-tra to get the pup just there at the right time...
Disappointed – In response to the auctioning off of dogs review below, my friend recently experienced the same sort of thing. I went with her and her husband to look at the puppies a few weeks ago and played with a little beagle in particular. They went home to think about it and when they went back the next day they were told at the door that the dog they were interested in was on hold for someone paying more money, Her husband was annoyed that they would even pull a stunt like that and told them to sell the dog, they were no longer interested. I recently went back with my daughter just to look at the dogs. I could not believe that the tiny little beagle was still there! It was the exact same dog because it had the same large marking on its chest! It wasn't until I read these reviews that I realized there had probably been no other person that was going to buy the dog, they must have just wanted to get more money! Unbelieveable what some people will do for a cent!
Pik A Pup AUCTIONS OFF PUPPIES – We saw a cute puppy here and asked what gender it was. The man told us it was a male, but we realized after holding it that it was a female. He didn't really know much about the dog and had no idea what state it came from. Once we decided to buy it anyways for the price of $799, we were told that the dog was already sold to people waiting outside that had offered $899 ($100 over the asking price). As we walked out through the office, we knoticed that the papers had already been drawn up and signed.(So while we were with the dog for half an hour, the dog was already being sold). As we got into our car, the couple was handed the dog in a carrier and walked out. I was curious to know the real story so I waited to talk to them.
Apparently they had seen the dog the day before, and were thinking it over, when they got a call that someone else (meaning us) was looking at the dog and offered more money (at this point we had offered nothing). So they hurried over to sign the papers. The woman was horrified when I told her that he told us the price was $799 and thats what we were going to pay. The day before she had been told that the price was $899. I guess the guy had told each of us that the other offered more money, when that was not the case on either end.
I'm glad that the dog ended up going to a good home, but I was very unhappy about the way they do business. So if you're buying a dog there, send different people at different times, and make sure you are really paying the lowest price and not getting screwed into thinking someone else is offering more for it b/c they completely make that part up. Shouldn't this be illegal?
i recently went there and i was highly disappointed in the fact they were basically auctioning off the puppy my friend wanted. he signed the paper stating her understood the vet n return policy. the lady asked what price he was told for the puppy he told her then she asked the guy to verify. the guy turned around and stated after he called that morning at 9 stating he was coming for the pet someone else called. the guy that called after offered a higher price and said he might be in later that day to get the puppy. he told my friend if he was willing to pay what the guy offered he could take the puppy. my friend said no i am here now and this is the price you told me last week when i was here looking at him. so the woman said if the guy didnt show up to get the puppy later she will call him and he can have it for the price he was told last week. my friend told her do not bother. its sad how they are auctioning off a living animal for the highest bidder basically... its a animal with feelings who just wants a good home not a piece of antique furniture!!!
Satisfied customer – The owner worked with me to resolve all issues and I am now a happy customer with a beautiful, sweet puppy. Thank you!
