Excellent food, great drinks - unpretentious service – I have eaten at many restaurants in Los Angeles, but this one is a winner! The service is attentive, yet not stuffy and with attitude as so many Sunset Blvd are so want to be. The food is authentic Mexican cuisine, but in and of itself an art on your plate. The ambiance is cool soft rock or jazz with an awesome patio with a cool retractable roof. Great views of West Sunset and in fact had drinks while watching the sun set. Would definitely recommend to anyone for a nice evening out.

Great drinks and even better service – This is a refreshing change for Sunset bars. A bar with regular prices, (you can get great-tasting steak for only $18) and very friendly, nice waitresses. They have good music, a nice outside patio and it's not super crowded.

Very good and reasonably priced Mexican-style food in a casual yet elegant setting. – Tasty and reasonably priced Mexican-style food. Lots of appetizers in addition to a nice menu. Excellent service! The restaurant offers good views of Sunset Blvd. through its tall windows. It's a casual yet elegant place with a nicely dressed crowd (no grunge!). I can't wait to return!

It's all in the name: Perched above Sunset Boulevard, this sexy little cantina serving affordable New American dishes with a Mexican twist is an island unto itself. – In Short
From the outside, this cylndrical-shaped cantina might not look like much, but inside, guests can sit under the domed ceiling in one of three cozy sections: The bar, back dining room, or semi-enclosed patio. The upscale-casual vibe attracts a mix of tourists, WeHo dwellers and rockers pre-and-post Viper Room, all chowing down on tangy, homemade guacamole and lightly grilled tacos. The bar boasts 120 tequilas as well as a humidor selling a variety of cigars to be enjoyed on the patio. For a sweet treat, flag down your server and order the chocolate or Grand Marnier dessert soufflé, which takes 20 minutes to prepare and will be worth the wait.

Refreshing: in food and in price-range – Though it looks somewhat like a tanning salon from the outside, Isla suprised me: the interior decor is classy and chic, like any Sunset restaurant should be, and the food is delightfully inexpensive without sacrificing presentation, quality, and taste. Also, it's one of the few Mexican restaurants in this area, which is refreshing. The menu is largely seafood based, making for a lighter lunch that works well during the summer, and each dish packs spice: fiery salsa verde is offered with chips, and even the guacamole had a little heat. I specifically liked the ceviche and the colorful cabbage salad. Tacos were a lot bigger than I expected too. Service was friendly and responsive, but I have yet to come here for dinner, when I assume the atmosphere would be a little more on the bustling side.

Editorial Review by Whitney Moore – This Mexican fusion restaurant and bar presents a fresh and flavorful take on south-of-the-border favorites in its bright Sunset Strip corner featuring large windows and a retractable roof.
