HORRIBLE WAITSTAFF – Got to Rick's today 12:05 pm. 12:15 finally got water and ordered. 12:30-no food. 12:45-no food. 12:45 we ask waiter to please bag the food (IF IT'S READY! He assured us it was). 12:50 waiter brought the check BUT NO FOOD. 1:00 PM, still no food, starving and need to get back to work. Hmmmm....need to walk out...should we have paid for the water???? Eight other tables also with no food...EVERYONE IN THE BAR AND EATING OUTDOORS HAD THEIR FOOD THO...THIS IS HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS....

1:03 PM...got back to work to tell the hundreds of people we work with NEVER GO TO RICKS AGAIN....they won't!

Good food, good time. – I've been a few times, and every time I have gone I have enjoyed my meal. The kitchen is practically in the dining room and you can hear and smell your food being prepared. I've had great servers in the dining room, and not so great ones at the bar. The time I ate in the bar bothers me the most as it was an early Saturday afternoon and it was slow... so there was no excuse. Anyway, if you're looking for something different, this is it. Enjoy!

Had a great meal. – Deep fried mac & cheese, mmmm. Very casual, friendly, laid-back service. We had a lot of laughs and a great, very casual meal.

Rick's Roadkill – We feared it would be a down-hill ride when the waitress told us the special had something to do with an herb called th-ime. We were hungry for down-home BBQ and got something that looked like a Hungry Man Meal. Cornbread was way off - coleslaw tasted like stale cabbage sprinkled with plain white vinegar - mac and cheese was a la college dorm. Might have excused all that if the meat was tasty, but this was NOT smoked meat. It all tasted the same: thoroughly bland and literally tasteless without the sauce. The "world class pit-masters" boasted about in this place's advertising were apparently on leave. Our advice: go to Wes's!

they have brooklyn lager! and that's about it! – i really love brooklyn lager, and nobody else seems to carry it. especially in big 24oz cold mugs for a cheap price. but boy, the drinking is the saving grace for this joint, which has little other redeeming value. the food is, simply put, awful. you can tell most of it comes out of the freezer, pre made. sauces on items like the meatloaf taste like solid sugar and salt. pure goo. their ribs weren't half bad, but they weren't great either. burgers look like a steal at $5, but they're definitely pre-formed hockey puck patties served on the lowest quality buns. i understand this place fills a price void between fast food and slightly more expensive places, but honestly the quality is so bad that you might as well just bring a six pack to mcdonalds and save yourself $20. the service has been up and down - a couple times it was really bad, and we went to the bar to get drinks rather than wait for our waiter. another time it was good. the night crowd is a bit much - plenty of early 20's college drinkers and ladies with clothing falling off. not that i'm complaining, but know what you're getting yourself into! not a bad place to drink a few beers. located in the cursed former cactus grill/big fish/etc. building.

Editorial Review – Jewelry District eatery brings the best of slow-cooked, down-home cuisine to Providence.
