Don't go by what the negative remarks are on this site. All I can say is that we recently purchased one of Marco's masterpieces. It is stunning!
I recently got engaged, and my fiancé purchased my ring at the Diamond Source. We went to many jewelers and saw many diamonds. None compared to the brilliance of the diamonds we saw at the Diamond Source.
This place is one of the best jewelers in town. My fiancé and I have gone into the Diamond Source a few times, and each time Marco (the owner) has helped me. Marco and his team are incredible. Marco cares about giving the very best, most beautiful diamonds; he goes the extra mile to make you happy. I went in not knowing exactly what I wanted but with the help of Marco and his team I ended up with a beautiful Diamond engagement ring. The ring is so beautiful! It literally took my breath away.
The cut is one of the best I have seen. The way the diamond sparkles is incredible. All I can say is that The Diamond Source has the most beautiful diamonds, settings, and jewelry I have ever seen!

I encourage anyone thinking of buying from The Diamond Source (either this branch or La Jolla) to read my review for Diamond Source La Jolla. Stay away---these stores are bad news in my experience. The 2 stores are connected--I know this because have tried to get resolution of my issue by calling the San Diego Store and they have proved to be an inefficient and unprofessional as the La Jolla Store.
My story is I returned a pair of earrings (almost $2,000) within a few days of my husband gifting them to me. The La Jolla store took them back (they have 5-day return policy) but now 3 weeks later we still haven't received a credit back on our credit card. I've phoned multiple time, keep being told they will credit our card, but still no credit. Finally I am having to file a dispute with Citicards, my credit card company, just to get back my refund!
UPDATE as of July 2012: In fairness to Diamond Source, I am adding this update. I finally received a phone call from the store manager of the La Jolla store. He assured me they have credited my credit card with the full amount of the return. I checked with the dispute division of my credit card company, where I had filed a formal dispute, and indeed they have refunded the money and the dispute is resolved. The store manager was apologetic and wanted to be sure the matter was resolved for me.
Very Honest Jeweler! – I was fortunate enough to purchase another stunning piece of jewelry from this amazing store and was made aware of some of the negative comments here. I must caution readers to use some common sense when reading some of the comments here, first of all someone wearing a $10,000 diamond needs to have insurance on the ring! Things can happen, of course a ring can get damaged by the wearer and the integrity of the constuction can be compromised - a store cannot carry insurance against all and sundry circumstances - if they do then they are way overcharging you for your jewelry to cover that expense. I'd rather pay a very fair price for my jewelry and get my own insurance. As far as other jewelers commenting that the workmanship was to blame - did they put that in writing? No! Do they want to get this business? Yes! In a business full of sharks I have found Marco Levy to be the one person I absolutely trust.
We were buying a diamond many years ago that did not have a GIA certificate so Marco obtained one at his own expense - the diamond came back graded a color AND clarity higher than he was selling it to me for! He honored the price he had quoted and I had an amazingly beautiful diamond that gives me even more pleasure knowing that it came from an artist with such integrity and caring for his customers.
I have now known Marco for twenty years and have never seen anyone care more for their customers, whatever their budget, than Marco. Be smart, meet him and judge for yourself!
Also, I never thought about this before but these sites could be used as a tool in all sorts of ways, positive and negative so I'd use caution reading some of the comments here and for sure with The Diamond Source go in and meet Marco and be your own judge. I for one have absolute confidence in his integrity and honesty.
Caution!! – Everything was fine and dandy until we needed them to stand behind their workmanship! My ring was checked multiple times per year by them and only worn when I left the house. My ring was 1.23 ct solitaire that just fell off without my knowledge and was lost, the stem prongs and all, and worst of all the ring was less than 2 years old. The Diamond source employees were very unkind and blamed me for their poor workmanship, stating that I must have my hand causing my ring to break!! It is obsurd that a $10,000 ring cannot withstand normal every day activities. Check out their "F" rating before spending good money at The Diamond Source. Two separate independent jewelers looked at my ring and said it was definitely poor workmanship and if they had sold us the ring that they would have stood behind their work. When we went back and explained this to Marco Levy he told us to take them to court. We are taking them to court but this is absolutely unethical business practice
NEVER.....NEVER....NEVER.... – Bought a loose diamond to be mounted in our setting. Took ring back on day 4 of 5 day return period. Took them 6 days to unmount the diamond, and after 11 days...still no credit back to our Visa! Nine phone calls provide nothing but promises.
Be careful. Be very careful. Yes, they might have some nice stones...but at what price? There is a price to buy, and a price to own...and a price on piece of mind regarding business ethics. Marco talks a good storm....and is a good salesman....but not an ethical businessman...so I have to wonder what else he is hiding or changing??
Filed complaint with Better Bus Bureau, and Visa/MC. You should check their other complaints on their website as well before you consider them...I wouldn't trust them to give me correct change for a dollar. BEWARE!!!
