I visited Orlando for three days and the very first day i found this Restaurant by looking at the reviews. when i gave it a try, it was worth it and i kept going for three days continually because the quality of food was intact and the service was very friendly too.
I would definitely go back there.
A year later after I discovered this restaurant, I'm still in love! They are so consistent with the quality of their food, and they are always very polite when you come in. I've dined in, taken out, and tried the lunch buffet and they have never skimped out on me. The menu includes an appetizing array of signature Indian dishes as well as vegetarian options from the southern part. The garlic naan is heaven. I've had this place once as dinner takeout and several times the lunch buffet.
Catering Reviews – When you organize or plan a dinner party, private party, business party or wedding, the first thing that comes in your mind is catering company. Because by hiring them you will feel much relaxed as they take care of food, drinks, shopping and cooking etc. It will help you to save a lot of time and energy as well.
And its "Tabla Bar and Grill"
The worst catering service ever! – I used this caterer for a wedding that I was planning in Orlando. The first time I called them, they were very nice, but once they got our deposit, they were hard to work with. The chef is the main point of contact for catering and since he is always busy, he is not easy to get a hold of. One time the bride went to the restaurant to meet with him and she waited over an hour before she was told that he would not be able to meet with her. Every time we talked to him and he said that he would call back, he didn’t. I always had to follow up with him. It took 4 phone calls and a visit to the restaurant before he would give us the final price for the catering. Even then, he said “we will figure it out” until we kept pushing him.
On the day of the event, he did not send enough food for our guests for lunch. We had told him that we needed enough food for 80 people. We had 75 guests, of which 10 were children. More than 15 of the guests did not get lunch. I called him after the event and told him that he did not send enough food and he responded with “I told you yesterday that you did not order enough.” He did not tell me this. During this phone call, I confirmed with him again that his caterers should arrive to the hall at 5:00pm for the dinner catering since the cocktail hour would start at 6:00p. At 5:45 p, they had not arrived. When I called the restaurant, the chef told me they were on the way and must have hit traffic. He also said that it wasn’t a big deal since our event did not start until 6:30p. Our event did not start at 6:30p so I am not sure where he got this information from. His caterers arrived at 6:15p, 15 minutes after our events had started. No one ever apologized. We were basically told that it wasn’t a big deal and they spent a great deal of time acting like we were bothering them.
This was the worst experience that I have had in my 5 years of wedding planning. No caterer in Texas, NY or NJ has ever provided my events with such poor service.
Best Indian Cuisine! – I dined with them this past weekend and I am a regular and I love them more and more. The best thing is the consistency of food and service. They were extremely busy that night and were on top of everything. I ordered a new dish Paneer Akbari and I must say it is the most amazing paneer dish I have ever had. I also tried a special of the day dessert- Veil of Butterscotch, it is like a butterscotch sundae with a lots of fresh fruits and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I personally thanked the Chef for creating something so special! I recommend everyone looking for good Indian food to must visit Tabla.
WOWZA! Like a diamond in a coal mine. – Really liked the food. Very well presented, I must say. A little expensive for my taste, but the selection was outstanding and well worth it! Who knew Indian restaurants have full liquor bars?? Usually, I'm used to some passable indian food in a 2-star location but beyond the exterior crappy days inn parking lot, Tabla transports you away from all of that. Like the headline, a DIAMOND in a coal mine. Check out the PRESENTATION of the dishes... very nicely done. One of the dishes was a little heavy on cream, but otherwise well-spiced. I really liked the Masala Mary or the 'Delhi Mary' as our server (who's name is M-something but goes by Mark) had recommended. It used the tomato shorbah (which is served as an amuse bouche upon your arrival) with Absolut Peppar... brilliant! Mark was very knowledgeable and exceedingly doting towards our beck and calls especially with our 3-yr old daughter. He even brought crayons for her and played with her to pass time while we ate. All in all, a very pleasant experience. A definite must on your Orlando travel plans.
Warm and welcoming! – As an experienced foodie I am familiar with many types of ethnic cuisine, however I never could get comfortable with Indian food. As a lover of curry, my preferences would lead me to Thai, Chinese, and occasionally even Middle Eastern restaurants to satisfy my cravings. Past experiences with Indian food lead me to surmise that it was heavy, over-spiced, and greasy. Thanks goodness I chanced upon TABLA!
From the moment we entered the squeaky clean restaurant and were greeted by the friendly staff I knew this was a winner. Although it is a large store, it had a warm comfortable feeling to it.The fragrant aroma of freshly baked naan and toasted spices filled the restaurant. The server was patient and friendly while walking us through the menu choices. Since it was not too busy, different members of the staff would casually drift by to make small talk and welcome us to the restaurant. When the food began to arrive it came with a heady aroma of curry, garlic, and a multitude of other exotic spices. We tried a three item appetizer, lamb dish, and a vegetable curry dish. All were flavorful and delicious. The highlight for me would have to be the garlic naan. Crispy, chewy, and lightly oiled it was heaven dipped in the curry sauce.
Although I loved this restaurant I have to note some small drawbacks. The restaurant is part of the Days Inn hotel. The parking lot has an air of neglect and vacancy. You wonder if you have the right place. When you enter the building there is a shabby lobby area with a touristy shopping kiosk greeting you. Don't let this stop you. Once inside the restaurant you are transported to a much different place. Also, the restaurant does not have their own restrooms. You have to leave the restaurant, walk through the cheesy touristy lobby area around a corner to a generic public restroom. Not a pleasant experience during a nice dinner. A new entry and bathrooms would make it perfect. Aside from these issues, I have nothing but love for Tabla.
Fabulous Ambience & even better service!!! – As you prepare to enter Tabla, there is a beautiful, Indian-style swing that lets you know that you have arrived. As we enter the doors, we are greeted by our hostess, Miss A. She is a genuinely, sweet lady, who leads the way to the bar and takes the time to explain the menu for us, as we are a bit new to Indian cuisine. We had some really good samosas, which are like empanadas filled with chick peas instead of meat; yummy! My friend loves the "sweet" sauce as she calls it (plum-I believe) but I kind of fancy the "green" or mint sauce-WOW; it wakes your tastebuds right up. I don't remember the proper name, but we are addicted to their Chicken Masala. Creamy sauce with a little kick, great presentation and the Chicken is already cut into bite-size pieces; served with a fragrant rice & finished with a touch of Suracha(hot sauce) on the plate. The desserts are perfectly-portioned for someone like me; I'd say about an ounce or two. I had the Sticky-rice pudding; don't let the name fool you...it tastes just like flan & the consistency is about the same, just a tad thicker. It was soooo good that I will definately be having that again. My friend had an almond cake that was quite yummy. Our bartender, Evelyn, makes a mean-dirty martini, as well as some of the mini-tinis they have. You've got to try them; we consider ourselves liquor officionados, being in the business for over 17yrs and Evelyn knows her craft. All of the staff is very personable and helpful. Shabber, the F&B Director, was extremely helpful in describing the dishes in relation to American and/or Spanish dishes, so we could easily understand. All of the dishes came out exactly as he described, but even prettier! We will not only be having dinner here again (Sunday, as a matter of fact) but will meet up for drinks. The bar has a nice array of liquors, as well as wines, and Shabber says that he plans on expanding the wine list even more. So cheers to them with my fabulous dirty, Ketel One martini!
Authentic Indian Cuisine and Superior Personal Attention! – As an American with an insatiable desire for "Curry" in my food (my wife fixes a nice Keema recipe!), I was so blessed to find that my hotel (Days Inn) in Orlando had a restaurant with authentic Indian cuisine. During our 5 day visit to Disney World, we ate 4 times at the restaurant! Not only was the food excellent, but the service was even better. The Chief Chef, Shabber, made it a point to visit briefly with each customer, and other staff like Evelyn, Aruna and others made you feel like family. Questions were encouraged by all the staff to help customers understand exactly what type of meal and experience they were looking for. As an example, I simply noted on the first day there that I loved Curry, at which Shabber helped me to understand how vast that delicacy can be experienced! And the salads were out of this world with blueberries, walnuts, red onions, garlic, etc. accentuating to taste buds! The bar also provided a vast assortment of goodies. I enjoyed some of the dark beers, as well as the "smoothies." John Paul, our 10 y/o relished a non-alcoholic Strawberry concoction that Evelyn aptly called the "John Paul" drink! Anyway you like it, you are sure to be pleased at this establishment where attention to detail is a mantra. Godspeed to all of you for taking such good care of us and even letting John Paul play "Runescape" on his computer at your place! I hope to come back again to my "home away from home!"
