Great Ambiance, Horrible Service, Decent Food. – In my honest opinion, I would probably never return to this restaurant. And it wasn't because the food wasn't good. Well at least not after they got it right the second time around!

I asked for medium on my steak and they over cooked it (well done to a CRISP!) Granted they did get me a new steak which looked to be a bigger portion than the first, and cooked exactly as it should have been THE FIRST TIME!

Service got 2 stars for multiple reasons. Our food wasn't cooked right the first time, the waiter was a bit rude and snobbish. My date asked for a straw 3 times before she finally got one! They picked up our plates saying they would pack the left overs and bring it back to table.. NEVER HAPPENED! The manager however had to come in and save the day by offering a 20% discount due to their mess up. Helps a little but I had already lost my appetite by the time the food came around (hence the reason for a "dogie bag" <which we never got>).

So over all, paid lots of $$$ for a portion of mediocre food and pretty crappy service.

Loved the food! The sides were spectacular and the desert too! – My husband and I invited another couple to experience Shulas. We went with no expectations other than the reputation of Shulas in other markets. I was a little surprised that it was in the Downtown Hyatt because Shulas has a more prestigious reputation than that of the Downtown Hyatt but we didn't let that stop us. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The salads were execellent, the sides were spectacular - you gotta get the maccaroni with crab that was awesome!! The guy that went with us went with the intention of ordering and finishing the 48 oz steak to get his name on the Shulas website and get an autographed photo of Don Shula and he did it! They loved the restaurant so much that they went back the next night with some other friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. It was a new restaurant for us so we had no expectations. I will definitly go back but make sure that you are starving cuz they serve in large quantities. Oh and you can't skip the desert.

Horrible service, food wasn't bad – After 45 minutes, all our waiter had managed to do was take our drink order. I was ready to pay for the drinks and leave, and was on the phone to find out if we could get in to another restaurant, when he showed up to take our dinner order. I asked him if we needed to move to get service, and he asked if we wanted to talk to a manager. I said no, I just wanted to know what we had to do to get waited on. He assured us he would give us good service from then on. From then on, instead of walking by our table as he ignored us, he rushed past our table as he ignored us. If he worked for me, I would fire him for being incapable of basic restaurant service. Even though the food wasn't bad, the incredible level of incompetence from the wait staff left me with not just a NO, but a "HELL NO" rating for ever going back to, or recommending, this restaurant. Add to that, the food wasn't bad, but was priced as if it were excellent. It was not. We all (four) ordered basic steak cuts, and the beef was not top quality, and the amount of edible beef was disappointing compared to the amount of fat and gristle. All around, a VERY disappointing experience. Don't go there if you want a good steak served with good service.

I couldn't eat an entire steak for lunch, so I only had a salad, but this is my new favorite salad in town! This place had the best steak salad with the best made-from-scratch blue cheese dressing I've ever had. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the salad was substantial enough that I didn't feel hungry later that day, which usually happens. I liked that there was nothing tired about the salad itself; the salad itself was colorful, had variety, and looked freshly cut. I am definitely coming back for this salad!

Downtown steakhouse at the Hyatt Regency is themed after the 1972 Miami Dolphins' undefeated season. – Deftly blending the ambiance of a high-class sports bar, memorabilia restaurant and fine-dining steakhouse, Shula's pays homage to the 1972 NFL Miami Dolphins, known for their "perfect season" when the team was lead by coach Don Shula. The pride of Shula's is the Shula Cut, a steak that's more selective than USDA Prime or Choice, known for its marbling, maturity, consistency, flavor, leanness, appearance and tenderness. The rest of the menu is highlighted by traditional steakhouse favorites such as crab mac and cheese, lamb loin chops and jumbo lump crab cakes. Dessert choices are led by an awe-inspiring molten lava chocolate cake.

Execellent Service, Excellent Steak! – I can't say enough about this steakhouse. The service was phenomenal and the steak extraordinary. We had the jump lump crab cakes. They were delicious, but don't eat too much because they're rich and filling. You wouldn't want to miss the Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella Chop Salad. I had the 12oz Filet Mignon and my boyfriend had the 22 Oz. Cowboy Steak. Both were cooked to perfection, but I'm going to go as far as to say my Filet was the best steak I've ever tasted.

Avoid if you are looking to impress – OK- Here goes. I was looking for a new place to take a VIP customer, so my Father-in-law recommended the new Shula's Steakhouse- I think he told me that he had heard a good review (on sports talk radio I think). So, I call and made reservations for 11:30 for a table of (4) and when we arrive, even though the place looked to be only half full, they don't have the reservation- However, and they do come back quickly and say they have a table... so not really a big deal. I suppose my biggest complaint is that there is no feeling of comfort or elegance whatsoever... the restaurant is located in the middle of the first floor Hyatt hotel which gave it a very "brighter than Wal-Mart store feel" and was like you were in an echo chamber, PLUS they are sky lights that are hot and blinding- So, if you are looking for quite, cozy, or intimate setting, this is not the place. Next on the food: We ordered appetizer, the crab cakes which was simply one big crab cake which made it really hard to share with the table (they brought no extra spoon to serve it). I ordered the Shula cut 12 oz filet which was on same level as I would say a Salt grass... nowhere close to Ruth Chris or the Palms... my customer had salmon that looked way dry too. Again, the biggest downside to this place was really the atmosphere... as there was none and the food was just plain old plain- If you are going to impress DONT GO HERE!

Also-There is like ZERO memorabilia too... ..has Shula actually seen this place???

Although our ambience is effected by the hotel setting, we have memorabilia galore in the lounge area of the restaurant. Don has been here, he opened the place on May 22, 2008.

As for the steak, we serve the best beef money can buy, The SHULA CUT, what I can guarantee is that we don't have the need to throw a bunch of spices and ladel gobs of butter on our steaks. We use kosher salt and black pepper only and let the quality of the meat speak for itself.

Hope to see you back for another try!!
