I really wanted to have good things to say about this place but unfortunately that is not the case. I held my wedding at Mulan and spoke to the Manager Carl. He seemed very friendly at the time and the placed look classy and modern.
So during my wedding, the place was set and it looked lovely. We had bought our own liquor and the Manager Carl was informed of this from the beginning (as I told him that I was on a budget). But for some reason he was upset by this. Manager Carl tried to ask for more money from my husband, asking him for additional 400.00 to serve the liquor we bought. Btw we just bought 2 bottle of wine to put in the center of the table and the fact that Carl told us there would be waiter for each table. SO why would we pay additional 400.00 for you guys to serves the liquor? Also Carl claimed that he would have waiter for each table but I saw only two waiters and we had 10 tables with 10 people on each. Another thing that annoyed me was that our guests had request for water and soda but every time they would ask,the waiter would say “I have to ask the manager”. So nothing was given to our guests, which caused me to have to carry my heavy puff wedding dress to Carl and ask him why people were not being served water and soda. Another problem was we had bought champagne for our wedding and we wanted to drink some before the event but Manager Carl told us that we couldn’t. And again I had to speak to him and ask him why. Then he said “I’ll get you a bottle on the house”, which didn’t make sense to me since I bought the champagne and it was our own liquor. Also my husband and I bought an expensive champagne bottle, just one for us during the wedding and we had given it to the Mulan staff to chill it. But when we asked about it, they said they had no idea what we were talking about and they had no idea where it was!
SO basically the whole time I was running around chasing after the Manager and trying to ask him why he didn’t serve people or why the air condition was so low. Anyways at the end of the event, my husband paid the bill and decided to put an extra 40 dollars to see if the Manager was an honest guy. He wanted to see if the manager would catch it and return the money. The money was counted by three people (Manager Carl included) and none of them said anything about the extra money. In the end I knew exactly what Mulan and the staff there wanted and it wasn’t for me to have a wonderful and lovely wedding. They are money hungry people that work there and shame on them for it!
I really wanted to have a good experience at this place but it was just horrible. We paid close to 9,000 for this place and the service was horrible, the manger was horrible, and the cake was horrible! The food was okay but they served tiny portion. Btw they charge a 20% service fee…but I felt that I didn’t even receive any service, nor did we have the 10 waiter per table as Carl had promise.
Please don’t have your wedding here. And watch out for Manager Carl. He acts very nice to you in the beginning and he promises you anything you want in the beginning but during the event he was trying to be cheap on everything even though it was our own things! Carl just wanted money and he made that very clear at the end. Stay away from this place!
Very nice decor.
The food was really good. Loved their steak!!!
EXCELLENT Food, Service, Restaurant – Not sure what restaurant everyone else went too, or maybe, they just improved since those reviews were posted.
My wife brought me and my family for an early dinner on Monday, May 21, 2012 to celebrate my graduation from law school. We had a private room.
We had two guests that were each allergic to different things. So we asked for and received a substitution on one of the dishes. And even without asking, the waiter brought alternatives to our two guests when dishes came out that they were allergic to. He even brought my four year old daughter a red bag with chocolates.
Eddie was our waiter, and the word attentive doesn't even begin to describe the superior service he provided.
Kim helped set us up and he returned at the end as well to ensure everything was taken care of.
I left here feeling like I was a celebrity that just received the V.I.P. treatment.
I would definitely come here again and recommend them for private dinners as well.
Nice place – We went to Mulan at around 10 pm and were pleased that they were open that late. Meals were nice. My favorite was ginger duck.
Fine dining....NOT!!!! – Me and my husband just went to Mulan restaurant located in Queens Crossings, Flushing and it was really one unfavorable and regrettable experience. The service is really bad. Most of them are inattentive and clueless on how to serve and accommodates customer. We went there on a Friday night which you would think would be a busy night but actually only few tables are occupied. There are double the number of servers and attendants available compare to the customers but it took them 30 minutes to serve the appetizer (Vietnamese spring roll) which anyone who has a cooking background can definitely prepare it in less than 10 minutes since it?s only slices of vegetables, with a couple of shrimp, wrap in a thin rice wrappers. We?re still not done with our appetizer when they serve us our main course, which are already cold!!! One order that we have is shitake mushroom and bok choy but they serve us shitake mushroom and chinese broccoli instead. We?re already halfway our main course when our drinks came. Plates and utensils are uncoordinated. Don?t be fool by the table setting that you would see once they seated you because that?s the last time you would see them since they are only decorative plates. They would give you a small plate afterwards which you would think are only use for appetizer but actually your main plate as well. There?s nothing special about their food. They are overprice compare to the quality that they serve you, people are much better off with the over rice menu that they can get in a lot of small, simple, but affordable restaurants in Flushing like in Corner 28th, Fortune House and Green Papaya. Me and my husband are really disappointed. We think that finally a good change happened in Flushing by having fine dining restaurants available but I guess when it comes to real fine dining, these restaurants are not really what they claim their supposed to be. Our only consolations are the atmosphere and the decorations of the restaurant.
SuperB decor!!!! – I went to Mulan for my friend's birthday last Saturday weekend around 9PM and the restaurant was not so crowded. The restaurant decor is very upscale and chic. We got the table near the window. We ordered Lobster Bisque, Coconut Prawn, some Ribs(chinese name which i can't pronounce),Chinese Veggie Dish with mushroom, Tofu Dumpling with lobster for appetizer, and Spicy Calamari. Overall, the food was good; I like Lobster Bisque,Tofu Dumplings are very good with a modern twist. The Coconut Prawn was a little bit salty since it was over season with salt plus hoisin sauce. The service was very attentive. I enjoyed the meal and will come back to try out something new. Will recommend to friends!!!
