First Dress I tried on!!! I visited French bridal in search of a dress for my September 22, 2012 wedding. I found that they had a great selection and my first time there I told Linda the owner exactley what I was looking for, She pulled out a dress that I was absolutley in love with and it was the dress that I ended up getting!! I did try on other fabulous, but I knew that the dress for me was the first one I tried On!
I just picked up my dress yesterday and I am very pleased with everything that they have done, everytime I've gone in there they have been more then helpful with everything. Rosetta was great with the Alterations and I would highly recommend going there to find your dream dress :)
They had everything I needed and provided great service!! – French Bridals is the perfect place to go for all of your wedding attire! This was the first Bridal Boutique I went to in my search for the perfect wedding gown and I found it on my first visit! Donna, Ann and Linda were all very helpful and provided personal and attentive service. Their seamstress, Rosetta O'Grady, was amazing!! The dress I chose was discontinued and the last one available at about 4 sizes too big for me. Rosetta assured me that she could alter it to fit me just the way I wanted and that she did! The dress came out just as I had pictured it, fit absolutely perfectly and looked amazing!! I also got my shoes, veil, earrings and bridesmaids dresses there. Even my mother and grandmother found their dresses for the wedding at French Bridals! It was such a pleasant, stress-free and fun place to work with and made the process so easy. I would not hesitate to recommend French Bridals to anyone who needs something for a special event and will definitely return the next time I need a fabulous dress. Thank you French Bridals!
Avoid French Bridals – I would not recommend shopping at French Bridals for a wedding, or any other occasion. I have had two negative experiences there.
Last spring, I attended a vendor fair at my reception site. While there, I met with a French Bridals employee who presented me with an envelope, explaining that if I made and kept a bridal appointment, I could open the envelope and win a prize. At my French Bridals appointment, I was thrilled to learn that I had won a free veil! I began trying on dresses, along with a few different lace trimmed veils. The salesgirl assured me that my free veil voucher would allow me to have any of the lace-trimmed veils I liked, free of charge. She suggested that I purchase my dress before choosing a veil, and more than once, she urged me to buy a dress if I liked it because "samples sell out fast, and without a sample on the floor, it can be tricky if you return at a later date looking to try it on". Unfortunately, I did not find a dress that day. The selection did not include many of the designers I liked, and the experience felt very rushed. I checked my free veil voucher for an expiration date, but it did not have one. I asked the salesgirl if I could return after finding a dress to order the veil. When she realized that I would not be purchasing a dress, her tone changed. She quickly took down my information and walked downstairs.
I have since found my dream dress (at Allegria in Belmont - excellent customer service!) This morning, my mother and I returned to French Bridals to begin looking at mother-of-the-bride and bridesmaids dresses, and to order the veil I had won. The dress selection was, again, disappointing. When I mentioned that I had won a free veil, the salesgirl immediately said, "Well I'm sure if you check the voucher, it has an expiration date." I explained that it did not, and that in the spring, I had been told that it would be honored once I found a dress. This seemed to annoy her and she quickly told me that I could choose from "two veils". The selection did not include the lace-trimmed veils that I tried on last spring.
Talk about false advertising and poor customer service! I have a lot of recently engaged and soon-to-be engaged friends, and I will be sure to tell them to avoid French Bridals.
I had an amazing experience at Allegria in Belmont, and my mother had an equally pleasant experience at Lorraine Roy in Danvers. At no point did employees at either of these places make us feel rushed, or pressured to purchase. In fact, they encouraged us to wait until sample sales dates!
Rude, disorganized staff! – I visited in January to help pick out the bridesmaid dresses for my sister's wedding and explained to Ann, an employee, that I was trying to get pregnant, asking for her advice on whether to order a maternity dress, what size, etc. She seemed very confident that I should order a maternity dress, as "it's much easier to take something in (if I was not pregnant) than to let it out". The following month, I called to order my dress and gave my measurements to Linda, the owner. She disagreed with Ann and told me that the maternity gowns are enormous and I would "be swimming in one" and should definitely just order a size or two larger than my measurements indicated. I asked if that is what most pregnant women would do, and also explained that I hoped to be 5 or 6 months along at the wedding. She told me she'd look into it and and call me back in an hour. Three days later, I had not heard from her, so I called and spoke to Ann, saying that I guessed I should go with two sizes larger (she did not object). A month later, I received a message that I was holding up the entire bridesmaid order and needed to call in with my measurements! Finally, in early July, the dress came in. It turns out that I am, indeed, pregnant, and the dress was already tight on my growing bump (with the wedding still two months away) and enormous everywhere else. I called to ask them what they could do, as this sizing was based on their advice and adding fabric to create a "pregnancy panel" brought up the entire alteration cost by $100. Linda was incredibly snotty and demanded that I come into the store on a Tuesday evening (which I mentioned was not convenient for me) and get fitted. So, my sister and I went in and showed them the dress. Linda said "I don't even see what the problem is, it looks great". She then said they would do the pregnancy panel for $45 plus the cost of the fabric if I came back in two weeks, but I'd have to have the remaining alterations done elsewhere. I asked her to give me a quote on the price of the fabric and she was supposed to call me by the next day-- I never heard from her. On top of everything else, Linda made me feel uncomfortable and humiliated about my pregnancy. She never offered any advice about the alterations and seemed to think I was unreasonable to point out that if we'd gone with Ann's suggestion of ordering my regular size in maternity, I would have a dress that fits my body shape AND accommodates my pregnant belly! This dress has ended up costing about $400 because it was ordered in an inappropriate size that THEY recommended (taking in a maternity dress, had I not been pregnant, would have been a less costly alteration that adding a maternity panel AND taking in the entire bust/back area in addition to altering the length, which I'd have done, regardless), they were downright mean to my entire family, they don't write things down or return phone calls, and they are snippy and rude the moment any difficulties, or even any questions, arise! I've had positive experiences with several other bridal shops who are kind, helpful, and professional and suggest trying one of those, instead!
Friendly and Good Service – I have had a very pleasant experience working with French Bridals. They have been attentive and available to answer all of my questions. They have also been flexible when it came to changing fitting dates. Rosetta has been great to work with, she has helped me select the most appropriate and affordable ways to ready my wedding gown for the big day. It has been an excellent experience. I am looking forward to picking up my dress!!
ROSETTA O'GRADY IS THE BEST!!! – I have known Rosetta O'Grady (seemstress at French Rbidal) for over 6 years. She has worked on over 20 garmentls for me (formal, informal, wedding, business casul etc.). Each garment has come out perfect and impeccable. You cannot beat Rosetta's work. Rosetta is willing to go the extra distance to make sure whatever she is fitting to you looks 100% perfect. Rosetta is fast, reliable, and extremely personable to work with. I would not trust anyone else with any of my clothing. She is now doing my wedding gown now and I do not have one single doubt or worry. Look no further Rosetta is the BEST!
Amazing – We brought our neice to French Bridals to look for a prom gown. The selection was fabulous and the service was beyond excellent. The store has a beautiful ambiance to it and the owners, Linda and David were great!
A special thank you to Rosetta O'Grady for using her expertise as a "super seamstress"
! She absolutely performed magic with a zipper problem and maintained her calmness and sense of humor throughout the fitting! She is quite an amazing woman with needle and thread! The entire staff makes sure that when you leave the store the dress is exactly as you had pictured it. We highly recommend it !!
You don't have to go anywhere else! – You truely don't have to go anywhere else to find the gown of your dreams! I planned a full day of shoping and it only took one shop. The selection was amazing, they listened to my wants, needs and helped to guide me to the dress of my dreams. Linda the owner knows her stuff! She is class act and was there to answer all of my questions. The staff was so easy to work with and not pushy. Once I choose my dress I was able to continue my planning without the added worry about my dress.
I have to say that I am so glad that I went to French Bridals!
Best selection and quality dresses I have found – I almost hate to write this review for fear that if business grows too much, this boutique will change its ways, but I was so pleased with my recent purchase that I have to write about it! French Bridals is a jewel hidden on the north shore of Boston. The selection of dresses is outstanding! I looked everywhere for my bridal gown and the dresses for my bridal party, and found everything I needed at French Bridals. The quality and selection of the dresses was great, and the service was impeccable. These people know their wedding attire. The owner is onsite so you know that every detail is being cared for, and all the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The seamstress French Bridals has on staff is excellent, making sure that every dress fit each girl in my bridal party perfectly, even though everyone had a little different figure. My bridesmaids looked beautiful! The prices were reasonable as well. Thank you French Bridals for helping to make my wedding day the best day of my life!
Fantastic experience with Rosetta & Ann!!!! – I am getting married in less than two months and couldn’t be more pleased with the way I have been treated by the staff of French Bridals. I would highly recommend them to anyone I know. I initially dealt with Ann Wilson, who was more than helpful in helping me find my dress. She listened to what I wanted and didn’t just try to put me in anything to make a sale. I am so thankful she pulled the dress for me to try on that I ended up buying because frankly, I could have passed right by it without even realizing it. But because Ann listened to the style of dress I wanted, my dress was one of three dresses she pulled for me to try on. She was more than accommodating and is really just a sweetheart.
I have had two fittings now and could rave about Rosetta O’Grady all day long. She is absolutely amazing at what she does. The alterations she made to my dress came out unbelievably perfect. I requested that the top of my gown be made into a sweetheart neckline and was nervous to do so because that is where most of the bead work is. Honestly, she could not have done a better job than she did and she is a perfectionist. The gown came out even better than I expected. When I went last night for my second fitting, I would have thought the dress was perfect and completely done. Rosetta having been in this line of work for a long time still looked it over thoroughly to see if there was anything else she could do to make it even more perfect than I thought it already was. I may be bias because it is my wedding dress but I have never seen a bustle done so beautifully. Rosetta made sure to take her time in showing my mother exactly what she was going to need to do, on the day of the wedding, to bustle my dress. Not only is her work phenomenal but she is such a kind person and I felt so comfortable with her and I trust her completely with my gown.
Thank you French Bridals!
