Don't get mani/pedis here..
I went with my other to get Mani/Pedis for her birthday. I foolishly assumed that if we were paying 100 dollars (per person) for these services that we'd get a top notch job done. Not so.
Not only did my manicurist cut my finger with cuticle nippers (which is now looking infected a day later), I was left wtih clear polish all around my fingers and toes from the top coat becasue she didn't bother to apply it carefully.
I felt like it was very rushed, and neither my mom or I got a decent massage on either our hands or feet. I could have done a better job myself.
I must say that I have had other services at this salon (hair blow out, massage, and a few facials, and have felt each time that they were allright, but not great. I suggest heading over the water to the Woodmark for some really great service, and comparable price.
Totally messed up bridal appointment. I had made appointments for my daughter and her bridal party months in advance, for manis and pedis 2 days before her wedding. The salon had called to confirm the appointments. When the bride and bridesmaids arrived, there was not the staff to perform the services. Yes, they gave them bags of products and a glass of wine, but the evening, carefully planned, was ruined. I will never go to a Gene Juarez salon again, and I have been a customer since the salons opened. What a disappointment. All of the staff seemed offended that we were upset. This is a day that can never be reclaimed. Do not use the Gene Juarez Bridal Services. Computer glitch is no excuse, ever.
When you want the best-. I'm still impressed with my massage therapist from last week, Liv. Sometimes you don't know who you're scheduling with- but Gene Juarez always seems to exceed my expectations. This was my first visit to the University Village location.
Pedicure Not Worth $70. I regularly get pedicures at many of the spas around the area and I went in to see the new Gene Juarez in the University Village and tried one of their Signature pedicures. I requested a more experienced service provider and what I got was far from that. My service said that it would be a 60 minute relaxing pedicure in my own room. When I arrived I waited for 10 minutes beyond my appointment time and by the time I was done I was rushed out of my room 10 minutes early, so in total for $70 I received a 40 minute pedicure. My technician was polite and the spa was well designed and beautiful but aside from those points I could not brag about anything else that I experienced. When I checked out the front desk asked of my service, I said what I thought and instead of even a sorry look from her I got well your total is $70. When I got home and looked at my toes, I not only had polish on my skin around my toe nail but my heels were still rough and dry and my cuticles looked as thought they had barely been touched. Overall, I could say that my entire experience was less than pleasing and very disappointing.
