Goodness! – This is a great spot when the items are fresh and just out the oven.. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the pastries are to die for! I always bring my nephew here for cookies and cupcakes and he never wants to leave... Keep up the good work!
Awesome place for $50 dollar tees – Pros: Tees are limited edition, with witty designs, and printed on good quality American Apparel blanks.
Cons: Tees are 50 bucks. Parking is VERY hard to come by. Fridge display is an idea bitten from BLENDS in Costa Mesa, CA.
Die-hard fans know this shop doesn't distribute cute little baked goods. Nope. Just far out T-shirts designed by a streetwear dynamo named Johnny. – In Short
The craze was born on Newbury Street in Boston, and now it's spread--like wildfire--to a tony strip of Melrose in Los Angeles. Just a jay-walking ticket from other cult faves like Paul Frank and GStar, Johnny Cupcakes' loyal followers camped out 4 days in advance of the SoCal shop's official opening. What's all the fuss? It certainly doesn't surround a secret frosting ingredient. The kids just want their T-shirts. Bright limited-edition designs dominate here and, appropriately, Johnny's retro-cool shop serves them up from the confines of gleaming pastry freezers. The '50s style ovens on the wall, blinged out with the owner's signature cupcake and crossbones logo, get things cooking for the eye, as does the black-and-white checkered floor. Nothing, of course, detracts from the merchandise. Oversized emblems with attitude are Johnny's favorite flavor. And since only a few of each exist (read: collectors items!), it seems you might have to play hooky and hit the lines if you want to eat fresh in this kitchen.
WTF?? – Passed by the opening of this shop last weekend and the line was literally snaking down the side streets-crazy! At first I thought, wow, the cupcake craze has far from died down, but then, after scoping out the crowd, with their sundry tats and poseur porkpies, I knew it must be some "underground" streetpunk shop. Don't get the madness, but whatev ... at least kids are getting excited for something these days. Yay - t-shirts and shopping!
