Never Again – You can have a bad experience, a bad bartender, a bad drink, and still have a good night....but this was just plain ridiculous. This is directed only at the bouncers and management.

When we pulled up in the cab there was the classic drunk guy yelling at his buddy, making obscene and obnoxious gestures, and cat calls at anyone that walked by. Only it wasn’t a drunk customer, it was a loud obnoxious bouncer from Kitty O’Sheas. After having to stand in-line and listen to the guy yelling and jeering at passing people, we had to deal with more bs inside.

While waiting in line to get up stairs where they were “at capacity” our group was split. They let 2 up and kept 3 of us back. Fine, sh*t happens. But then they proceeded to let all of their friends and friends of friends in front of the rest of the line. If I was a bouncer, I’d let my buddies in too. I get that. But not them plus 25 of their friends if they are so called “at capacity”. Someone complained to the older guy who I assume was the manager -dress pants, tie, and button down, and a silver faux-hawk- and his response was a snide comment along the lines of “tough sh*t, this is how it works.” Then said if we paid him $10 each we could go up.

I get that you have a busy bar, and one guy leaving isn’t going to cost you much business...but there is such a thing as respecting people and some of these Boston hotspots have seemed to forget what it’s like to be in the service industry.

We finally were allowed up. Within 1 hour a bar fight broke out. Instead of immediately getting the guy and escorting him out, they took their sweet time trying to talk him into leaving. Kick him out! In the time they spent whispering sweet nothings to the angry shirtless dude, another fight broke out between the remaining members of the first fight. Within minutes it turned into a full on brawl. People not involved were getting punched, knocked over, girls were getting elbowed in the face.

The second floor of Kitty O’Sheas is small. They were over capacity but still let their 25 buddies in. The management had no idea what to do. The so-called bouncers were hugging the walls looking like lost puppies. At this point a lot of people realized the brawl had escalated to a dangerous level and people started scrambling to the exits. The staircase was immediately backed up by bodies trying to get out of the way of the unfriendly mosh pit that had spread over more then half the upper level.

I was trying to make my way to the door when the brawl finally seemed to subside after a guy lay sickeningly still on the ground. Knocked out enough that people were taking his pulse. Scary.

We finally saw cops trickling upstairs trying to get past the mob attempting to get out. All the while the classy DJ is screaming “GET THE F*CK OUT. EVERYBODY GET THE F*CK OUT. LOOK WHAT YOU DID, WE ARE GETTING SHUT DOWN, F*CKING LEAVE.”

Trust me, I wanted out as fast as possible but when the stairs are locked up with cops and people trying to leave and you only have one exit, and the place is “over capacity” there’s not much I can do but wait in line....like I had done all night. So you screaming in my ear about how I, the customer, who paid a cover, paid for my drinks, stood in line, never gave any of your jerk bouncers lip, should get the f*ck out, and then blaming me, us, the crowd....maybe you should take some time to look at who is running your bar.

Getting your friends deals in the place you work is expected. I’d do it for my friends, they’d do it for me. And I have been in this industry long enough to know how it works. But when you put your attitude over the people you are trying to attract and serve - that’s annoying. But when you put your attitude and lack of common sense into a situation that get’s people hurt and surpasses your customers safety....that’s just irresponsible.

Great bar – Aside from the weirdo bouncers on weekends, this bar is fantastic.

Willy and Mike (both bartenders) are two of the best around. Having seen them both in action on busy nights, you'll be hard pressed to find fault with their swift drink mixing and attention to detail.

A great place for midweek drinks and apps, or for dancing on a friday/saturday night.

Only other, kinda bad thing, is I hear that the upstairs room is ridiculously overpriced to rent.

Def. get in there though for a chill atmosphere and a laugh.

Horrible place – This place is filled with nasty staff. If you have a complaint, they will tell your to give them " an f'ing break". That's the type of service you can expect. If you are of an minority race, do not go into this place, because you will be treated as a second place citizen.

TERRIBLE in *every* possible way! – I hosted an event here and rented out the second floor. Although the decor is nice (lots of seating, 2 bars, + DJ booth), beyond the aesthetics, IT WAS HORRIBLE. The staff was RUDE, UNCOOPERATIVE, DISRESPECTFUL, and CONDESCENDING in the way they talked down to all of the guests. They (bartenders, wait staff, and bouncers) made us feel unwelcome at the establishment, despite the fact that we had prepaid for a very high bar tab and signed a very generous contract. Moreover, at the end of the night, the manager tried dishonestly to milk me for even more money by attempting to MANIPULATE me into paying a room rental fee that we had already negotiated. I was extremely UNIMPRESSED by the level of professionalism and courtesy, and I do not plan to be a customer of this establishment EVER, EVER again.

I have been to a lot of bars and clubs, and this was by far THE WORST EXPERIENCE of all. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!

LIVES UP TO ITS BAD REPUTATION: one word...TERRIBLE – Kitty O'Shea's actually stands up to its horrible reputation thats been going around Boston for some years now. I tried to give the place another chance, but I was utterly disappointed. The place was completely overcrowded with a terrible collection of drunken guys stumbling all over you. It took at least 10 minutes to get a drink at the bar, and the bouncers were horribly rude and moronic. As far as the girls: genetically challenged "throw aways" who look like they belong in Aisle 5 of Wal-Mart...that is if you can even find any because Kitty's was almost all guys. I guess the only upside was cheap drinks.

Lots of new changes. Great place to watch Sox game. – Just a quick response to Swedemily's review. First of all if you saw the owner there wearing a blue sparkly earing, thats just amazing, seeing as though he's 78yr old Irish guy who lives in Paris. Second, what does the height of the doormen matter? I'd rather have one of those guys nearby if there was any trouble than some guy you deem acceptable because he's taller? Honestly, how can that even be a valid gripe about an establishment. Third, you cant label a place "white trash" cause there happened to be a group of older Canadian men there that night. What's the place supposed to do? Tell the men as they come in, "I'm sorry but you dont meet the "cool" status that some of our guests have come to expect. Your gonna have to leave. And could you go out the back door? We dont want anyone seeing you leaving here." Oh, and the Kitty's Brew - your worried about being seen in that place but your also purchasing a $2 beer? It's 2 DOLLARS big spender. Get over it. Were you expecting top notch?

Thats all really. Other than setting the record straight for that reviewer, I'd say if you havent been to Kitty's in a while, go check it out. Tons of great changes really changing the sub par reputation Kitty's had for a few years. Great DJ's. A new second floor lounge opened last summer. Lots of new plasma tvs everywhere and big comfy leather couches to watch them from. You can dress up or just go low key. You'll fit in fine.

Response to the obvious PLANT – First of all, you're an obvious plant (p.s. you might want to check out the difference between 'your' and 'you're' - *you're* coming off as white trash). Secondly, if the 'owner' is some old dude, then this place is filled with employees who like to talk about being the owner. That in and of itself is shady and sad. Thirdly, it really was filled with leering older men and the most washed-up looking women I've ever seen. It was a pathetic 'scene,' and my standard of what is 'cool' is pretty lax compared to most people's. And by white trash, I'm referring mostly to the way the patrons BEHAVED, not looked. And judging people on their actions is hardly being high and mighty. I also don't think there's anything wrong with preferring taller people as potential partners. Let's get real - you avoid certain girls (or guys) with physical characteristics you just don't personally find appealing. It's called being human. *You're* the one that needs to get over themselves. A good place to start would be avoiding this hole.

great irish place – Most of the bartenders are off the boat and very nice. The appetizers are good (though the Nachos could be better) and they serve Magners in huge bottles...definetly my kind of place. They had beers from Ireland and England and even Blueberry beer!

One of downtown's most authentic Irish bars, with rowdy weekend crowds to prove it. – The Scene
The sole U.S. outpost of this European chain of Irish bars benefits from its heavily-trafficked location between the Financial District and Quincy Market. Daytime brings a trickle of tourists and area workers, while a young local crowd fills up the space at night. The bar drips with character, thanks to pine floors imported from Belfast and stained glass windows depicting historical Irish scenes.

The Draw
After a few pints of beer and some hearty pub food, you may think you've taken a wrong turn and ended up in Dublin. On weeknights, Kitty's is a relaxed, reasonably-priced place to catch a game on TV or enjoy live Irish music. But on weekends, it's packed day and night, thanks to the thousands of students and locals that descend on the Quincy Market area looking for love in all the wrong places.

Don't go anywhere else – This has to be one of the best bars in Boston and THE best Irish one. Great Irish music on Fridays nights and a great DJ on Saturday's which regularly has the place packed! The staff is WONDERFUL and if you're lucky, you'll get a shamrock on your Guinness. And the bouncers are really nice guys too! I go there all the time and I've yet to be disappointed. Slainte! ("cheers" in Gaelic).
