Best Indian Food in Seattle – I have been going to Muhammed's restaurants for many years and his newest one, Saffron Grill on Northgate Way, soothes my senses with its beautiful decor and the lingering scents of delectable Indian cuisine.

If you love chai, as I do, I can guarantee that this will be some of the very best you will ever drink!

If you love Indian food, as I do, I can recommend everything! Don't forget to try the garlic and spinach naans, yum.

Also, just for the record, Muhammed treats me with so much respect and love that I think of him as my brother!

Excellent home made food – So delicious, and the butter chicken melts in your mouth. The cocktails are good. The owner Muhamed is very nice, he seems to have some interesting reviews here, not sure why that would be. Just a sweet older man who takes pride in his restaurant

Nice place, great food – I am shocked to read these reviews about the owner because I just made my fifth trip today in the last six months and have never witnessed the owner yelling at or belittling his staff. What I have been met with is a clean and tidy restaurant, with great food and a friendly, courteous staff. The food, in particular the Middle Eastern cuisine, is just delicious. The Indian fare is also very good, with the Naan bread coming out piping hot and the food being very fresh. I have had several different plates here already and have never been disappointed.

The desserts and drinks are very good as well, and there is a large portion on vegetarian items on the menu. I am not a vegetarian but I have tried the veggie stuff on the menu and it is very tasty and full of flavor and very satisfying.

The waitstaff is efficient, friendly and know the items on the menu well enough to explain them to those who are trying Middle Eastern or Indian food for the first time.

I highly recommend this place - we keep going back because its really good. See for yourself and I don't think you will be disappointed.

closest to heaven!! – This is the place you can get closest to heaven for Indian food. Today my husband , son and I went for dinner and were greeted by the owner himself! He asked us to be seated on table 8 and saw to it we were served. The enterie was super and so was the food! Why while we were waiting for the food to arrive he sent us a complementary enterie!!

The food was finger licking good! We are from Indias and were thrilled to have such authentic food in Northgate.

So proud to be from India!

Keep up the great work!

Whats up with the bell? – My girl friends and I all wanted to meet Friday for a drink. We all live somewhat closet to Saffron so we decided to try it. We sat in the bar and ordered drinks and appetizers. The Mazza plate is very tasty and their Margaritas are really quite good, the waiter was very attentive..We couldnt help but notice a constant ongoing, never ending ringing of a bell in the background. It was as if someone was pounding over and over again upon it. We asked our waiter about it. Apparently its the Cook. He bangs on it repeatedly every time an order comes up..and not just once.. He pounds on it until the wait person picks up the plate. So this could be a while if the waiter is on the floor with another table..and there are alot of orders that were coming up! This went on non-stop for hours.. We pleaded with the waiter, He said he gets many complaints and there is nothing he can do. We asked another waiter who walked by, he said hed be happy if we went back into the kitchen and try to take the bell away from the cook.. Apparently its an issue with the staff as well as the customers.

We told our waiter that this was unfortunate because the food and drinks were good, but we all had developed a twitch and a headache due to the incessant ringing, and would not be returning.

My advise would be that if you do go to Saffron, sit as far away from the kitchen as you can!

This Restaurant Is My New Favorite! We Had a Great Experience – We visited the Saffron Grill for the first time tonight, and are so glad that we did. The service was super friendly, high-class feeling and the food was PHENOMENAL!!! In the words of rapper McLyte, this place "Rocks the party that rocks the body"!! :)

For the best combination of Indian and Mediterranean food, I would go here in a heartbeat.

Bad ownership means a waste of a nice place – We have eaten at the Saffron Grill for the last time. The owner, Muhammed, is ever-present and a big drawback to the whole experience. He yells at and embarrasses the staff, argues with customers and talks down to customers and spoils the whole experience. The two couples next to us had coupons from Val-Pac. He would not allow them to use them even tho' they had asked in advance about it and asked for separate checks. They were noticeably upset when the answer came that they were allowed only one per table (it didn't state that on the coupon). He yelled at the waiter in front of them for his part in trying to accomodate them. We used a Passport card. The owner said that $10 was the max. discount but the Passport deal is one free entree. He argued with us and would not budge, just like the other table. In both cases he said that the computer would take only one $10 discount per table. What a flimsy excuse for treating customers so poorly. Then he snapped at our waiter for calling him over. It was an uncomfortable embarrassment for all except Muhammed, who got his $$ this time but lost several customers.

We would like to visit this newly remodeled neighborhood place often, but it's not going to happen

good, but a little too pricey – We had dinner there recently, and were excited about good Indian food in our neighborhood, being fans of Cedars.

The tandoori chicken was decent, but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The pieces were on the small side, and a little well done. We also had the butter chicken, which was tasty, but probably had about 1.5 boneless chicken thighs worth of meat, sitting in a pool of sauce, and thats it. Tasty, but not really worth $14 in my opinion. All the meat dishes were at least $14, and with family style dishes like that I would expect at least enough to take home a little leftovers, but it's pretty much single servings.

Everything was good, but seemed about 20-30% too expensive for what you got. 2 lassi's, one piece of naan, 2 chicken dishes, and a shared ice cream was $56 with tip. If we could get that same meal for $35-40 I would be more inclined to come back.

The old magic of Cedar's on 50th is back -- at the Saffron Grill -- and so are we. – We wondered why the quality of "Cedar's on 50th" had slipped in the last few months, and found out that the previous owner sold the restaurant and has opened another place, the Saffron Grill at Northgate, still in Seattle. Their wonderful recipes went with them to the new, inviting Saffron Grill, in a more open and convivial space.

Many dishes have been improved in subtle ways, and intriguing new menu items have been added. You can't go wrong at the Saffron Grill, and the best appetizers and entrees (both Indian and Middle Eastern) are spectacular. They have a full bar now, and a selection of beers that is even broader and more refined than before. Highly recommended.

Good Food Bad Management – I eat out alot and I worked in the food industry for several years. I have seen bad managers before but the owner/ manager of Saffron Grill on northgateway, is right there at the top of the list. I watched him drag one of servers away from tables while they were talking to the customers, not by coming up and excusing himself but by yelling from across the dining room. Shortly after that I saw him yelling at my server for bringing out my appetizer with my meal ( which I had asked for ) and then appologizing to me even though when he came up the first time I told him that I had asked for it all together, but he preceeded to yell at my server anyways. I was kind of in a rush and I asked for the check and I came to find out that through muhahmeds process I cannot get my check until all items have been removed from the table and he views the check, if I'm in a hurry I dont want to wait 5 more minutes to pay my bill. So overall review great service great food bad management.
