Can't Follow Own Dress Code – So, since I play pool pretty regularly, I thought I'd stop by the Rack with a few friends, on the way to my own bachelor party. I was dressed pretty nicely, but was refused at the door because my pants had cargo pockets on them. I can't even tell you how The Rack was, because they wouldn't let me in. The Bouncer at the door was completley rude, and couldn't form a complete sentence. The Rack is a Joke. Please do not Go There. Evidentally, The Rack is only for the Rich and Famous. A guy who works for a living can't even get in the front door.

Nothing to do with Pool – Poser central! This place is laughable. No real self-respecting Bostonian would ever hang out here with the bridge and tunnel crew.

No room for pool, just 90210 wanna-be's pretending to be important.

Attitude Adjustment – This Bar needs some serious attitude adjustment. After a recent Jimmy Fund Walk, some of my colleagues and I decided to stop in for a drink. Sporting our "Jimmy Fund" t-shirts and in the middle of the day, we were shocked to get turned down by the bouncers. We were informed of their "dress code" and told we were not appropriately dressed. For a pool hall, The Rack takes themselves a little too serious...come on guys it's for charity!

The rack is the most overated bar/club, whatever it is...the worse place to go in boston to meet someone unless you have money or are famous, otherwise guys don't bother, the women are so uptight...the dance floor is horrible too, my livingroom has more open space. Why do they even bother to have a dance floor? Everyone just stands around and gets drunk anyway, and get rid of the pool tables at night, they just take up space...the rack is only good to go before it turn into a club...

Only come here... – ...if you're a guy with lots of money who thinks that "money talks", or if you're a girl who likes guys with lots of money. I've never seen so many 30-ish guys in one place flaunt and brag about whatever money/car/house/job they have, and so many girls whose first few questions are "where do you work, what do you do?" and turn away if the guy doesn't make par.

Service is terrible. Half the place was empty last time I went, and it still took 20 minutes for a drink. They get decent bands to play though. And at least they have pool.

Never again on a weeknight – I went to the Rack knowing that a lot of people slammed it and, although I'll be a lot nicer than they were, I have to agree with most of the comments. The lines (outside and for the bathrooms!) were crazy, the drinks are overpriced and the clientele are just lame, way beyond words. The service was better than I expected though, the girls at the bar were nice and offered me drinks before I even asked, even though it was a Saturday night. I probably won't ever go back on a weekend night, but may try it again as an after-work destination.

Improper Bos. 6 BEST OF AWARDS!! – This place has something for everyone. . .GREAT atmosphere, excellent, consistent food from Steak Tips (better than Abe & Louie's) to Pizza (better than Regina's), I'm NOT kidding. Great new bands, saw Sugar Foot, unbelievable - jazz on Tuesday's is a nice change. No cover either! GO - ENJOY!

Cool atmosphere, great food – I went here over the weekend and loved it. No cover which was surprising. The "feel" is comfortable but cool. The food was great and cheap! - considering it was a pool place in Boston. Good looking people which was a huge plus. Saw great band called Sugar Foot - would definately come again.

This place has nothing to do with pool – People don't go to the rack to play pool. They go to feign interest pool, while standing around the table, trying to be noticed. If you're a 20-something collegiate/yuppie type, this might be your kinda place. Otherwise, run away as fast as you can.
