GREAT FOOD!!! and thanks for the changing table! – The family that owns it makes it unique & special! They really put a nice touch in presentation & ambiance. The fry bread and red pepper jelly are to die for!!!

LOVE ELLIS BAR! can't wait to go back!

So Great – I've been to Ellis several times. I love their navajo fry bread taco. It's a dish I can't get anywhere else. I've tried other dishes on the menu as well because there is so much to choose from and I want to try it all.

Also, great atmosphere! A warm cozy spot.

Like to gag on food? – One person working the whole bar - Check. 30 minutes to get an order in - Check. Tiny $3 cokes with no refill - Check. Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla loaded with unchewable and disgusting gristle - Check. Awesome place!

good neighborhood joint. – I went to this place last week for a couple drinks with some friends. Prices are reasonable, the bartender is nice and the food/drink selection is solid. I ordered some wings and a portobello sandwich, which had a tasty red-pepper jelly on it.

Check it out. It's nice to have a decent place in the neighborhood outside of Sidecar.

Gross food, Horrible service! and P.S. a hunk of dry meatloaf is not "Tapas" – I love southwestern food, and went to college in New Mexico so I was excited to try this place out. The space is huge, and nicely decorated, and we had the entire back room area to ourselves because we were the only ones there (redflag). We were a party of three hungry people, so we all ordered right away. The menu is very hard to understand but we did sort of figure it out. After a short while the nachos my brother ordered as his main course (we specified) arrived at the table and was set in the middle as a starter to share. We told the waitress we wanted everything at the same time but not to worry. Big mistake. The next thing to arrive at the table was my fry-bread(greasy). Followed five mins. later by my boyfriends sideorders (he had yet to recieve his main dish).

Plates of food just randomly kept coming out of the kitchen and brought to our table in no particular order. If the food was at all good I guess it would've been chalked up to being an honest mistake but it was not good at all. I had meatloaf which was not fresh or had been left out too long and had gone dry. And my poor boyfriend ordered the Rattlesnake which proved to be a charred, dry, tasteless, impossible to eat $20 mistake!!!! This place needs some help fast!! Or gasoline and a match..... Save yourself from a dry tasteless nightmare and RUN TO SIDECAR!!

Tasty southwestern tapas and fresh-fruit margaritas in a former Park Slope department store. – In Short
The tapas trend takes a southwestern turn at this dark-wood bar/restaurant crammed with shelves of tomes, wall-hung animal skins and the odd cowboy painting. While several TVs display the daily sporting fare, diners can hunker down at the long bar and sip beer, or take a table and snack on puffy Navajo fry bread freighted with spicy, four-bean chili; corn-meal-crusted catfish topped with blueberry salsa and chipotle-marinated shrimp. Board games and a rock-heavy jukebox keep boredom at bay.

Hits: In a tapas category clogged with sweaty cheese plates and shriveled olives, you'll be pleased with flavorful tweaks on classic New Mexico eats.

Misses:
If you're looking for romance, look elsewhere. The loud, low-lit ambiance is better served for boozers than couples looking for a little alone time.
