Neighborhoods: West Side, West Town
Far west of West Town's popular strip, this bar and restaurant combo still manages crowds. – In Short
In this far west neighborhood sparsely populated with bars, the cheery hangout has gone the extra mile. To make it worth the trip, the owners sprang for luxury finishes like the custom wood-paneled ceiling that leads to an eye-catching, bright-white bar overhang. Don't worry, you'll look good, too: Nelson paper lamps cast soft, beautifying light on everything. While the menu reads like a best bar food list (minibrugers, hummus dip with crudites, cobb salad), the bar side of the setup--with its jukebox, DJ and cocktail list--is responsible for bringing in most patrons.

Like the 80's Cheers show on RedBull!!! – My boyfriend and I swung by on opening day...IMPRESSED! Super friendly staff. Drinks were delicious, food menu appeared awesome!!! There is plentiful seating outside, and though the downstairs area appears VIP, its welcome, open, and AWESOME. Music can be 80's, 90's, new/old/crazy, as you control with new age Touch Tunes. Nice to walk into the bar with "Come on Eileen"!!! I knew it was going to be a great night. Loved the Ringpops, Skittles, and StarBursts up for grab on the bar (you candy lovers will appreciate). Not too crowded just yet, but I imagine will quickly become a favorite.
The icing on the cake: The fresh squeezed lime juice they use (for appropriate shots/margaritas). It's PURRFECT if you know what I mean. We will definitely be back soon with a LITTER of friends!
Class + Pizazz = One Fun Night – I live in the northern burbs and was driving in to the city to pick up a few friends for a fun night enjoying the city. We were driving around looking for someplace fun to grab a bite before going out. We were immediately attracted to the colorful, inviting exterior of this new place, NXXT. We learned from the doormen it was the pre-opening event, and even though we were not on the "guest list" we were invited in to check the place out. Valet was effecient and reasonably priced ($8). Upon entering we were immediately struck by the energy and buzz in the place.
From the doormen to the waitstaff to the bartenders, everyone was pleasant, courteous and friendly. We found a seat near the front window. I LOVED the fire red chairs and their contrast to the elegant looking marble bar. We snacked on appetizers while we drank. My personal favorite was one called a "tater tot" which was actually blue cheese, and steak in a potato ball. They were huge and only $4. The rest of the menu was just as reasonably priced and provided ample variety from various American cuisines.
Now the good stuff... lol the drinks were ample and strong. There was no feeling of timid or watered down drinks here. The music varied as the night went on and the closer it got to 11pm the more "hip" the tunes sounded (or was that the drinks?) The sound system was crisp and clear, still it never sounded overpowering or too loud in that conversations were easily carried on with people in a circle of 6-8. All I can say is everyone seemed to really be feeling the vibe.
Definitely a place I look forward to checking out again!!!
Okay, so had a full meal here on Valentine's Day - LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!! – Everything was phenomenal! I had the halibut with succotash. It was very yummy. My boyfriend had the burger (he likes burgers - what can I say)? Probably the best burger I've EVER tasted...and I'm not a big meat eater, so that's huge. Our bill was $40 with our entrees and my drink. Pretty reasonable, I would say.
Even better than the food was our server Bill. What a nice and very attentive guy. And, our water glasses were ALWAYS full!! Major plus in my book.
At every table in our row, someone had the bone in filet mignon. It looked spectacular, but was a special that day. Hopefully, they bring it back regularly for those who love steak. I heard three people say it was delicious.
I heard they're opening for brunch at some point. I hope it's sooner than later!! :)
