Great 4 Groups, Large Portions – La Famiglia's has been great with our group of 8th graders for over ten years now. They provide large family style dinners at a reasonable price. The kids love the food and can't get enough of it. It is the perfect place for a large group who wants a yummy meal with great servers and friendly owners. Our group is usually between 30 and 40 people and they accomodate us perfectly upstairs. We call ahead of time and set up our menu and date/time and we are good to go. They remember us coming back every year as well so the menu is all ready for me unless I want to change something. Their meatballs are to die for!!!!
Day 2 and I am still eating! – My fiance and I ate here yesterday afternoon and the portions were huge.
We got the stuffed mushrooms as appetizers and they were very delicious.
I got the vegetarian with ziti and he got the chicken/brocolli with ziti and the servings were HUGE that we ate 1/4 of it and took the rest home. Had some for dinner yesterday night, and some for breakfast this morning and still have leftovers to last me till tomorrow!
the service was great, love the native boston-italian lady who was our waitress. just made everything more authentic
No Sharing Allowed – We went to La Famiglia Georgio's on the recomendation of a friend. I won't go back.
The service was pretty poor. The portions are really big, but there is NO SHARING ALLOWED. We are staying in a hotel here while we visit and so we ended up having to throw away half of our meals. I was really disapointed.
The food was OK, but there are alot of fantastic places in Boston, maybe some that would let you share a meal that you paid for.
Great Lunch Spot – I've been here a few times during the week for lunch and loved it. They have a sampler dish on weekdays where you can try a number of items for a very low price. The food is some of the best Italian I've tasted, particularly the lasagna. Portions are huge. The place is small but since I've only gone for lunch there has never been a wait.
Very solid food at a great value for the North End (or anywhere) – Ridiculously large portions, friendly service and good sauces make this one a winner.
We ordered an antipasto and we were pretty much full after that. I had also ordered an $11 pizza and my date the Chicken Sorrento. We ate the rest for lunch and dinner and it was still good. Highly recommend anything Sorrento. Just a very nice sauce. Thought the pizza tasted better the next day just because it was a little crisper and everything a little more well done (even though I had asked for it well done). Probably not your thing if you are a thin crust lover.
Great place to take a family.
Some of the best italian food every tasted! – My wife and I found this spot while walking thru the North End. It has a very unassuming and noisy atmosphere, but some of the best Italian food we have ever had. The quality of the dishes, the freshness of the ingredients, and the flavors are wonderful. The sauce that was served with the lasagna was outstanding. The pasta and sauce in the La Famliglia special were unequaled. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
Others have compared it to a trip to Grandmas and we would agree.
One of the North End's busiest trattorias specializes in humongous portions of simple Italian favorites. – The Scene
Locals and tourists alike flock to this area favorite for impossibly immense portions of classic Italian fare like chicken parmigiana and veal marsala. Patrons can expect a noisy, jovial setting on most nights. No reservations are taken, so on busy nights the restaurant's main objective is to keep the line outside moving--with a straightforward menu and speedy service, expect your stay to be a short one.
If you're looking for atmosphere or overall quality, look elsewhere, but if you have a family or group of friends to feed, this is your place. Most appetizers and all entrees come in two sizes: small (large) and large (ridiculously large). A large order of cheese ravioli with meat sauce weighs in at over a pound and can easily feed three. Wise diners stick to familiar favorites like creamy fettuccine alfredo or gooey ricotta-stuffed eggplant.
A Family Style Dinner that Cannot Share – I was very disappointed with the service and value. We has a reservation for 7 people (I was surprised that I can make reservation). We arrived a little early and saw the table was ready for us but the waitress made us wait outside until our reserved time. I picked this place because it is family-style dinner (as indicated on the sign outside) but we found out later everyone has to order a dish (no sharing!!!). Our waitress was rude and not happy to bring us extra plates for us to share. We have tons of food left. This is definitely not a place to go if you cannot eat 5 pounds of food in one seating. NOT RECOMMENDED!!
