DO NOT GO!!! – Where do I begin? My uncle recommended this restaurant to me and told me about his wonderful experience. My husband called early Saturday afternoon to make a reservation. He was told by "Billy" the owner, that before 7:30, he didn't need to make a reservation because the restaurant would not be packed. Therefore we would be able to eat if we arrived before then. We arrived before 7pm, and witnessed some of the clientele entering the restaurant. Needless to say, I thought that I was entering a strip bar because several women were scantily dressed. We walk in, and notice that the restaurant is completely empty except for the one couple dining. "Billy" was sitting at the front and I asked him for a table. He then says that we could wait at the bar, until the other couple has finished eating because he had reservations. My husband then told him that when he called, he was told it wouldn't be a problem. "Billy" then became very rude, and replied in his best unprofessional voice, "Did you, or did you not understand what I said?" My husband then replied that the entire restaurant was empty and couldn't understand why we couldn't eat. Also if the restaurant was completely booked, why weren't we told when we called. Needless to say, "Billy" was so unprofessional and rude, that I will never return to this awful place. It seemed as though he felt "entitled" to treat us in this manner because he was the owner of the establishment. Please do not support this establishment. I refuse to pay money to be mistreated, especially by my own people.
Being an Entreprenuer and all around regular guy let me tell you of my experience at Harwood 609
I flew into to Dallas and stayed at one of the surrounding "Pricey Hotels" where they gave the usual spill of "Dining within walking distance" Riiiiiight. So the shuttle service took me a place that was known for it's steaks and delicious SeaFood. Not only was it overpriced but the food itself was not appealing.
Anyway after complaining to the one of the people at the hotel, they suggested I venture into the city and after a little coaxing and a shared cab ride we ended up at Harwood 609.
After entering the doors I was suddenly transported into Warm, Comfortable setting that included a Water Fall, Smooth Jazz "swirling" about with the look of a Cool Piano Bar that you would find in some of your more sophisticated Cocktail bars in a "Swanky Hotel".
While looking around a gentleman (Who happened to be standing near the piano using his phone) ended his call and shook our hands and my identified himself as the owner and welcomed us to his establishment. "I felt right at home"
I order, Turkey and Dressing , Rasberry Tea and a Salad and after eating, listened to the smooth jazz while my food digested. All of this for an affordable price of $5.41.....This is one of the best dining experiences I have had in a while.

The worst nightlife experience EVER! – I really don't know where to begin, this was the worst experience I have ever had in a quote "upscale" live jazz dinner club. First of all what is a dinner club, the valet was "complimentary" but then we had to pay 12.00 per person to get in the door....ok, we were not seated but rather pointed to a seat and told it was "over there" Then the waitress asked what we wanted to drink before presenting us with menus, after giving them to us she stated that they were out of certain drinks that we listed on the menu...it was 8 pm mind you, how are you already out of the drink choices? We continued the evening because we were there to for a friend's b-day party. The food was horrible, management had the worst attitudes of all and the music was horrible and they didn't play a bit of jazz to say the least, there was nothing "UPSCALE" about this place. As a matter of fact the manager asked a friend of mine to stand while he went to get a chair for another party. One of my friends asked for a different food choice and was told they were out of that, and we had to share two menus between 10 people. The menu only has about 4-5 entrees....that's if they don't run out of the ingredients...All in all this was a terrible experience, I can guarantee you this place will not be open long! Just wanted to warn everyone don't waste your time or money!
Nice and Lovely – Ive Had the best time at Hardwood 609, the place is outstanding , the band was excellent and the food is good. The waitstaff in the section I was in was on point, all my people gave her a hug before we left. I will be back again
Very Unprofessional!!! – I was very disappointed with the customer service and the poor management in this establishment. A friend planned a dinner party for 10 people 2 weeks in advance. Unbeknownst to her there was a $12 cover charge of each of her guests, the table was only reserved for 8 near the fish tanks. We borrowed 2 women at a nearby table allowed us to borrow 2 of there 4 seats. The "unprofessional pinstripe suit, manager" confronted us for a chair and refused to accept that we had not taken chairs from a vacant table nearby. By this time we had already ordered drinks, and food (which is another complaint). Half of our party had finished their food before the others received theirs. The ceasar salad consisted of "iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and drenched with Cesar dressing like soup" obviously I returned it to the kitchen. The "carribean chicken, consisted of chicken breast, spaghetti sauce, over white rice, and cabbage."
It's very unfortunate that we tried to patronize a black establishment, and this was the treatment we received. What customer service handbook or management training course were you taught to confront a customer for a chair? The bus boys later brought the same type of chairs from the store room, and now the business risks loosing repeat business and future customers? due to overzealous management.
The only thing I did like was the mature crowd, live music, and pretty scenery but I can find that almost anywhere in DFW or in my travels. Needless to say, I will not return nor recommend Harwood 609 to anyone!!
Worst service and they know it! – I should have been wary when a place that boast good food drinks and live music make you pay to get in! They know they are going to be compin a lot of bad service. Everything was aweful I will never go back.
Worst customer service – It is with great concern that I address service received on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Our reservations were made a week in advance, for a party of 10; upon arrival at 8:30 p.m. at your Restaurant we received a complimentary rose for the women and a glass of wine. Which, I saw as a nice touch for the evening. However, everything went down hill from there. We ordered a bottle of the complimentary wine,(thinking that we were receiving the same wine we were served), when we arrived, instead of the waitress informing us that the complimentary wine was a house wine and could not be purchased we received a bottle of Cooks wine. We informed the waitress this is not what we wanted and she was more concerned with charging us for the product than trying to accommodate us. We ordered our food around 8:50 p.m., at 10:30 there was food brought to the table for one couple in the party, two other couples received their food about fifteen minutes later (10:45) and the last two couples at 11:00 p.m. still had not received their food. The waitress came over shortly after 11:00 p.m. and stated, ?Oh yawl ain?t got yawl order? She came back a few minutes later after going to check on the order to inform us they were out of the food we ordered. She then stated that we can order something else, (this is after three hours of waiting). Why would I place another order and wait another two hours. We left at this time. Remind you this is after 11:00 p.m. and there?s nothing open this time of night to eat. We were not compensated for our $40.00 entry fee nor did we receive an apology for the inconvenience.
I am very disappointed because I attended your Grand Opening and have given great reviews about your establishment. After my encounter this past holiday, I will give no further reviews or recommend anyone to receive such horrible service. The restrooms were even filthy.
go to listen to music only – when i walked in i was all smiles, then this voices from h..ll shouted "sweetie over here"! a women demanded that i stand in line to pay (yu can't go no whar til yu paid tu get'n) an entrance fee. i was more than willing but pushed to a point to turn and run fast! the front desk was....how can i say this, " hired trash". they seem confused, rude to customers waiting in line, rude to each other and they cussed out loud! now what could out rank that... servers who i saw only twice the 2hours i was there. the night was like a scene from FOREST GUMP.
to the owner, if you see a heart on the floor it's mines. your staff at the front desk pulled it out.!
needs improvement – It is sad to say but the management and staff really do need better training. Yes the place looks wonderful, but the service is HORRIBLE. 1st I made reservations at 6, when I got there they were still cleaning the restaurant. they were still mopping,sweeping and vacuuming. I could not believe my eyes,but I kept going not wanting to ruin my aunts bday party. this was all going on as we arrived, they did not stop or anything, they kept right on cleaning. and NO,no one from management came over to say sorry that they were still cleaning. 2nd when we ordered our food and placed drink orders it did not go well. for example, several people ordered mashed potatoes..when our food came we received french fries. so of course,we let them know this was not our order. she then said they did not have mashed potatoes. so instead of our waitress letting us know they did not have it. the kitchen staff took it upon there selves to choose what we wanted instead. not sure if they were out of a lot of stuff but this happened with way too many plates at our party for this to be a restaurant. This also happened with a few drink orders. not sure why the waitress could not advise us that they didn't have the items. and still no management came over to assist us with the meals,cleaning,drink orders.
New in town – I am new in Oaklawn and had to see this place for myself. I must say it IS pretty! We had drinks here after work and really enjoyed the place. I heard alot of thinkgs about this jazz club, and have to tell you I was not dissapointed. We were not there for the live entertainment, but you can get a feel for what it could be like at night, it almost sizzeled .
