One of the best dives in Philly, and hands-down the best dive in Olde City. They have an incredible beer selection (so many taps!) and a fantastic happy hour.
A Dive Bar with Old City prices. – This place is a dump. No doors on the bathrooms, I rarely get a clean glass and if you order food, the bartender goes in the back and microwaves you some food that was made weeks ago.
The beer selection is large but, there are plenty of other cleaner places in old city that also have a similar selection. Go to them instead.
Nothing But Goodtimes – This place has a fantastic beer selection downstairs and that anything goes feel. Then there is the new upstairs that is chill and funky. The staff is all about having a good time. I have been here a few times now and no matter what your looking for in a nightspot this place has it. The last time I was there it was a single mans paradise at least 4 women to every guy and they were fun too. Not your usual female types you might find in olde city. I almost didnt want to write this review because I like the fact that it is like a secret, but that is because of the staff and ownership. It is to good to keep to myself.
Best Draught Beer Bar in Olde City!!! – Grungy, divey, neighborhood feel. Pretentious people thankfully avoid this gem. Two floors of fermented fun! 40 craft beers on tap with new brews rotated in every week. Considering extremely low prices and mass variety of beers, it is truly, by far, thee best happy hour in Old City. Multiple big screen TV's and crazy specials for all Philly Sporting events. Largest musical library in the state of PA (over 40,000 songs from every genre.) Spotlights a different band for every happy hour. First bar in Philly to host Rock Band on Playstation 3!
This dive bar in the middle of Old City rotates its 40 taps of local and hard-to-find microbrews every week. – In Short
The Irish Pol (formerly Jagers), with its non-descript, long, straight room dominated by a non-descript long, straight, bar, at first appears so generic it seems it should be called BAR. That is, until you see the beer taps. There are 40 of them. They're all microbrews. They change weekly. And they carry some of the rarest beers in the city. The assortment ranges from locals to obscures like Left Hand Sawtooth Ale, Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale and Big Eye IPA. The menu provides detailed descriptions and bartenders provide samples.
