Very dissapointed – More like Below Average Joe's Bar and Grill. My friend was raving about the baked chicken and it was garbage! The chicken had next to nothing flavor, and it was supposed to be stuffed with cornbread but it was laying next to it. Second, the cornbread was very dry.
Now I brushed off the bad meal and ordered a strawberry shortcake. I figured it wouldn't be that bad. Well I bit into the ice cream and strawberries and I was in a brief heaven until I took a bite of the biscuit. It was ridiculously buttery and didn't go well with the rest of the dessert.
Don't waste your time.
WASTED NIGHT OUT – Last night we (party of 4) had the displeasure of dining at your restaurant in Woburn. I should have been for-warned by all the empty seats for 8 pm on a Sat. night. I?ll get straight to the point. First, on three occasions, our server, Kristen was nowhere to be found. I?m not talking about she was briefly in the kitchen, or checking on an order. I mean outside smoking a butt for 15 mins nowhere to be found. And once, at a time immediately after the busboys brought the wrong entrees to our table.(and why is it your busboys are serving the meals, anyway??)
Next; the slop you serve at this theme park restaurant. I had the sirloin, which is better at the Hilltop (where I do not eat).I sent back three times finally accepteing a piece of shoe leather, because the other three in my party were almost done with their meals. The haddock was uncooked. (Does the word safe-serve mean anything to you idiots??) Finally, Kristen brings the check. Then disappears once more (this time for 15 mins!), while we wonder why there are 4 more drinks on our check than we ordered.
Turns out in that while she disappeared we tried to order drinks with another server, only to have her put them on our bill, but never bring them. When Kristen finally magically reappeared, she corrected the bill, (offering no apology). I asked her if there was a staffing problem, and she replied ?no, not at all?.
Quite honestly, even if there had been, the restaurant was empty!!!
This is why I hate theme park type restaurants, opened by people who have never worked the business.
Oh, and by the way??.
Why is it that when I go to Abe & Louies, (which I don?t anymore) that?s all I see is waiters who want to sit and clown around with the customers??
Do those idiots really think people are there to buy a friend for the night??
But I guess it works for you. Oh well, the rich, and wanna-be rich are a strange lot??..
Awful experience, embarrassed.... – This was our friend's first time in Boston on a Sunday, so we thought we'd take him to a good, but quick brunch (the lines at other places were an hour long.) Joe's had been consistently good in the past.
This time, however, the host staff sent us upstairs before calling us downstairs, and had a very unprofessional manner, treating us like we were dumb for going up. This was our first time sitting in the downstairs bar, but with the game on, we didn't mind. They must start their new servers downstairs. While I'm sure he's a nice guy, our server wasn't a good server. His hands looked like he'd been working on cars, not as clean as I'd like for someone who was touching my food. Our orders took for ever to come to the table, and when they did, the food was not good. There was no chili on our nachos (even though it said chilli on the menu), and my filet benedict was soggy, the steak was rubbery, gristly and unseasoned, and the whole meal was just a little bit too cold.
Then I made the mistake of using the restroom. The trash can was overflowing despite the large number of staff running around. The bathroom overall was not very clean either, very much like a bar, and not at all what I expected from such a restaurant.
In the end, I was embarrassed because I had raved about the place, but the whole thing made me look like a liar.
Great burgers!!! – It was a rainy afternoon and we were looking for a good American burger. We picked just the right place. Friendly staff greated us at the door and we were seated promptly. The restaurant was cozy in the mist of the afternoon rain. It was warm and welcoming. And did I mention the burgers? They were delicious. Great wait staff. Great prices.
Great Sangria, Good Food, Crappy Service – I came to Joe's on my last day of vacation looking for a light lunch. I didn't know that eating by myself meant that I was to be treated poorly. The gentleman who greated me at the door was extremely nice; and the girl who took me to my table was also lovely - but that is where the courtious service ended. I had been sitting there for almost 10 minutes before my waitress finally came to take my order. I ordered the Pink Sangria (lovely, I highly recommend it), a salad (which was fine but not outstanding - fresh but the dressing was bland) and the crab cake app (which was mostly just beautiful sweet crab meat and little filler; I wish I'd ordered just that and the sangria). After that my waitress basically just plopped down my meal and went awol for the remainder of the time; except when the couple next to me ordered coffee and she reached ACROSS me to take the little container of sugar off my table and give it to them. She never asked me how my food was or if she could get me anything else. When she saw I had finished my food, she just brought me the check without a word. I know servers don't typically make much off of single patrons, but I have friends in the service industry so I try to tip usually 40% when I'm out alone. And while I'm too nice to not leave her anything, let's just say she was luck y to get ten. If you go to this establishment, make sure you bring a friend.
Been to Better – I have eaten here 3 times and always it's the same. True the waitstaff was very nice and very helpfull, but the food couldn't make the cut. Like baseball it's 3 strikes and your out.
great service and friendly atmosphere – greeted immediately and friendly service, was very impressed with the service of the bartender Lisa and her friendly attitude.Prices reasonable and food above average.
All-American food for an all-American crowd along Newbury St., complete with a sunken sidewalk patio. – In Short
Joe's is a magnet for suburban families and tourists strolling by its high-profile Newbury St. location. Diners choose between the upstairs (Back Bay townhouse-ish), downstairs (straightforward bar area) and sunken outdoor patio. All-American fare (steaks and chops, crispy crab cakes, juicy burgers) makes up most of the menu. Popular menu items also include comfort fare like chicken pot pie and meat loaf, as well as fresh seafood dishes.
Eat @ Joe's, again? probably not. – It's a nice looking place, w/ a decent Sunday Brunch selection on the menu.
However, the "spicy" bloody mary wasn't spicy, my "Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict" came out w/ some really questionable cut of "beef" and a poached egg that was really over-cooked to a hard yoke. I asked for a substitution, and instead of a choice, my substitution request was made a side dish.
It's ok, but could be so much better to get to at least average.
Great place for all dining needs!! – This place is really great if you have special dietary needs. They care about things like that. The salad that I had was sensational. I know you might be thinking, "Oh that's great if you like salads, but what about me?" I urge you to just try it! My friend ordered a salad too and she is a changed woman. The food is spectacular. The value is good too, because you get a lot of food. Good date place too.
