JESSE IS THE BEST!! – JESSE KIRSCHNER is the best hair dresser i've ever encountered period!!
Some people are meant to do certain things. Jesse was meant to do hair. He has the eye others lack . Jesse understands hair, style, music, culture/counter-cult ure .. Taste and passion matter when choosing a stylist! I moved to Venice recently from the east side and my old stylist moved back to the east coast , so,while doing a little bit of research, looking for a proper cut on the west side, i ended up checking out floyd's reviews since it was in the neiborhood, ... and since i find horror stories very amusing, i continued to read.. and i stumbled on several 5 star reviews about Jesse, and found out that despite floyd's reputation.., he is an exception, very good with long layers and bangs , as well as texture, razor cuts, rock n roll and mod / circa 1960's. I asked for classic long layers with some edge and natural flowiness .
He washed and deep conditioned my ends , blew it straight , and then proceeded to cut it dry, which was interesting because he could examine all the little details in the texture, and he cut vertically into the layers. Explaining that he was looking at the balance , cutting with the hair's natural flow, creating channels inside for the hair to grow in it's natural movement.. 3D hair cutting! There's definitely a science to this art. His approach is very different from other hair stylists, he is more visual, like a sculptor.
The cut continues to grow out amazing. People always tell me they love my hair and i tell them i got it cut 3 months ago, and i send them straight to Jesse. My boyfriend goes to him now and he is spectacular with men's cuts also . And one more thing, make an appointment between 830-9am, he books up fast. Give him a try and you will thank me later.
I just read that Jesse isn't there anymore!! I searched online and found him at a salon on main st. in santa monica. Hoorayyyy! Search: Jesse Kirschner hair floyd's venice and you should find him ;)
No Jesse? No thank you. – I have been going to Floyd's for the past year and a half for one reason.. Jesse K. I initially found Jesse through Yelp and I was surprised to find out that he is no longer there. They wouldn't tell me anything over the phone, but luckily there was a post on here that directed me to his Facebook page (search Jesse Kirschner in VENICE). He is now working at Miakel Bishay Salon in Santa Monica. I am never disappointed with Jesse and think Floyds has lost a valuable employee. I could go on about how he gave them a good name, but you can scroll through the Yelp reviews and see for yourself. Message me if you are having trouble finding Jesse's information and I will point you in the right direction.
Don't worry about a big price hike with his new place. He has worked out a deal to keep his regular customer's price down. This low price may only last a year or a month, but at least it helps get everyone use to the place.
you suck posers – after waiting for 90 minutes for my son to have his haircut, when we were told it would be 30 minutes, we finally left. the final straw being two customers taken before us when we had been told we were next, and the gentlemen had arrived well after we did, without appointments. after enduring stylists on cell phones with no clients, outside smoking and forever in the break room, flipping them off as we left was somewhat tame. never again posers!
Terrible – My own mistake first of all was to try somewhere new the day before a wedding I was to attend. I am not going to rant on and on. What happened was I hit on a kid having a bad day. He didn't offer to wash my hair. That buzz thing they use was pushed through my hair willy-nilly and the end result was quite simply the worst haircut I ever got. I am a mouse when it comes to these things and I said nothing in the shop. My hair sticks up and is awful. I went to a different hairdresser the next week to do damage control.Apart from the haircut, the staff, while not exactly rude, were dour and uncommunicative.Just not a happy trip. They need to pull their socks up in many ways
Worst haircut ever – This is the worst place I have ever had my hair done at. Girl who was doing my hair took almost twenty minutes to mix my dye. The shop ran out of color remover, so the "girl" experimented on me by adding dy to my already color stained skin then attempted to rub it off with a towel. In the end my skin was irritated and my neck and cheek were black. hair cut was horrible as well. And in the end I couldnt even get a discount. Second day later skin still burns.
HORRIBLE SERVICE – I walked in today trying to get a haircut and I was told the wait would be 30 min. I told the receptionist I would be outside. I saw people walking in and waiting maybe 10 minutes and they were being seated already. I let it slide thinking they must have had appointments. After almost an hour, I asked the receptionist how much longer I would have to wait, she said they called my name already but I didn't respond. I told her I was outside the whole time and could only hear the music playing. She said I can try and fit you in next, but we did call your name... There were only men inside I was the only woman waiting outside and they didn't bother to come and tell me I was next. I will never try this place, WORST Customer service!
Coolest hair in L.A – If you're looking fr an amazing hair stylist who knows about underground style, counter-cultures, and decadent looks, like of the 6o's , 70's punk, rock n roll, glam, or hipster ?? or i dont know wtf you call it-cool hair, you should go to Jesse. I clue in my friends about hm. I'm so excited he's at a place i can afford now. Hooraay Floyd's!
