User review by rockyhorrorgirli – so affordable-- for lunch especially! the portions are on the small side and its not the best tasting sushi i've ever had, but it was fresh and tasty. so for 7 bucks you really can't complain!
Addicting! – The problem with Shino is how addicting it can become! It's most definately the cheapest sushi you'll find anywhere in Boston. Plus it's fresh, and the service is quick. I eat at Shino a minimum of three times a month - and I've gotten my friends addicted too!
Delicious and Inexpensive – I have been eating at Shino Express for almost two years and have never been disappointed with the quality, service, or the price of my meal. The sushi is very inexpensive especially compared to other sushi restaurants in the greater Boston area. The pieces are delicious with a newly expanded menu to include several new types of inside-out rolls among my favorite are the Crispy Eel and Newbury Fashion. It is a very small place, perfect to hop in and out for a quick, delicious and inexpensive bite of sushi.
This place is great! – If you want really cheap, good, fresh, fast, sushi (and who wouldn't) then please go to Shino. I go here all the time, and it has never disappointed me.
Best sushi fix – Don't go there for fancy designer rolls, but if you're in need of a quick sishi fix, this is the place to go. The seaweed salad is very good too. I've eaten there at least once a week for the past 6 years and the fish has always been fresh and tasty. Portions are usually bigger at dinner. Service gets better as the staff sees you come back again and again :-)
Shino Express Sushi – If you think you don't have enough time and money, this is the best. Inexpensive, Fast and Fresh.
splendid sushi – fresh, delicious, well presented! quick, fast, light, and simple fare! Prepared quickly and fresh!
I would recommend for anyone interested in some relatively cheap and tasteful sushi in the back bay! Especially for take out!
Not all that good – I stopped in here for a quick takeout lunch. The prices were quite inexpensive, and it was the only sushi place around that I knew of. I ordered one of the lunch combos and was a little worried when they handed me a takeout container of pre-made rolls and nigiri. But I wanted sushi, so I decided to try it.
The nigiri pieces were quite small and unimpressive - the rolls likewise. Nowhere near as good as most of the other sushi I've had around town. Plus they didn't have low-sodium soy sauce. If you really want sushi, knock yourself out here. But if you want a nice sushi meal, look elsewhere.
Small Fish – The prices are cheap but the pieces are small. The dining area is very UNCOMFORTABLE. You usually end up spending the same amount that you would going to a regular sushi place, so that doesnt seem cheap to me.
Good cheap sushi fix – If you need a quick and cheap sushi fix, this is the place to go, if you don't live around the Porter Exchange mall (where you could go for quick Japanese bites).
My friends and I head to Shino Express whenever we need to satisfy that sushi craving fast and cheap. I love ordering by the # of pieces, you can get a ton of sushi for pocket change.
Cons: If you're a sushi connosieur and demand the highest quality or nothing at all, this is not the place for you. If you're a beginner and just want to try a few California rolls, this is a good initiation spot.
