WAY overpriced! I would never pay $20 for what I got at RISE.
This is the breakdown:
First floor, you get a ticket to pay upstairs.
Second floor, you pay. Then there's this lounge area with the techno music playing WAY too loudly. The couches are filled with 25-40 year old men looking around waiting for a girl to come by. There are maybe a couple girls there, standing awkwardly waiting for a place to sit. If you are a girl and sit on one of the couches, be prepared to be eyed and approached by many almost middle aged men.
Third floor, the dance floor. You have 18-24 year old guys standing along the walls of the dance floor, kinda moving but not really. There are maybe about 20 girls trying to dance, surrounded by the 50 or so men up there.
LADIES! This club is a meat market. Guys will constantly just come up behind you and start gropping you. It's literally disgusting. I felt on display. If I wanted a drunk hookup with some guy on Molly that would probably end in an STD, then yeah, I'd go to RISE again. Otherwise, not so much.
Not friendly, too small – If I could give them a rating of 0, I would. The club is way too small, so their solution is to line you up by the door to smoke cigarettes - and if they find the smallest reason to kick you out, they will - they'll keep your money, and make room for new victims at the same time.
Aside from being far too small, management has no clue what they're doing, they have no respect or concern for paying club-goers. They've taken the door from the ONLY bathroom down before (male bouncer, removing the door while 2 female occupants were inside), and as mentioned in another review, there is simply too many drugs for such a small club.
Go if you like getting your money taken, and being treated with disrespect.
Never Again... – I went to Rise for the first time on New Years Eve this past year and I will never go there again. Although I love that they are open after hours and the atmosphere is great, I have never seen so many drugs in a nightclub before. I was disgusted by it!
Only afterhours spot in Boston – This is a much needed addition to the Boston nightlife scene... anyone from NY will tell you, things closing at 2 is just too soon.
I'd still like to see this place covered by the InstantNightlife website to you can check to see if its worth going to on some night.
I went to Rise with some friends about 2 months ago for a night and it was a lot of fun. I had never even heard of Rise before that night and after doing a fair bit of research like joining their Facebook group I've learned that they can draw some internationally-recognized DJs and I really appreciate the attempt at making it alcohol-free, it's good to know that there's a place where you can go to get away from all the drunks on the Boston streets on various days.
Also just another thing to keep in mind about Rise: it's pretty much a real club even though it is alcohol-free and 18+ so people will just start grinding with you if you're not already dancing with someone so don't go there if you're in a serious relationship (unless you go together of course); I went there with some friends, one of whom is in a serious relationship and her boyfriend wasn't with her and she had to leave after just about an hour, maybe hour and a half because she got really uncomfortable with guys just grinding on her. I think it was her first time there so just keep that in mind; it's not a place for people in serious relationships unless you go together.
Rise Nightclub – I went there for the first time a few months back and loved it there. No meatheads and drunken guys like other places. The sound system is incredible and the visual are cool. Its also impeccably clean. This place is all about the music and if you are into house and techno music, rise is the place to get it.
I have been back several times and recently became a member so I pay less now when I go.
Editorial Review – Members only after hours club maintains a chic atmosphere and keeps the party going until sunrise.
