$5 Pisco sours? Yes, please! Fans of the Peruvian cocktail have got to hit up this ceviche-ria on Sundays. Be warned: you won't be able to drink just one. The fried mixed root veggies are noteworthy, too.

AMAZING CEVICHES!!!! AND DELICIOUS PISCO-SOUR'S!!!! – This is my new favorite restaurants in the City!! They have the most delicious Ceviches I have ever tasted!! Also, their fried rice is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! I crave it all the time!! Make sure you try the Pisco sour. It's like Peru's version of a Margarita and it's so tasty!!

Pisco + Surprises – No expert on Comida Peruano, but having been there once I can identify some authentic dishes. You want papas (potatoes) they got papas, served as appetizers like mini sushi towers with sauces and seafoods. You want Maize, they add it poached, steamed, stewed to many of their dishes.

I don't eat seafood, but chose this restaurant to impress a group who eats a lot. Seafood blew them away, not as the best but more as a different take on some fave dishes. Great lamb, great veggie dishes. Priced high overall, but a spacious renovated pier warehouse with fun views, soon to be outdoor dining. A good crowd/downtown office pleaser.

If you like menu in town. If you don't know what is be brave and experiment. Luckily no Cuy (domesticated guinea pig) or Alpaca on the menu but, lots of authentic dishes and sauces in unusual combinations that were well cooked.

Bottom line, pricey, experimental but, also tasty and great for a large group.

Upscale Peruvian cebiche and a gorgeous waterfront setting. – Every great cuisine--Italian, Japanese, even French--was once an "ethnic" food, and even in gastronomically diverse San Francisco, Peruvian restaurants have always fallen into that derogatory category, but this 200+seat celebrity-cheffed upscale waterfront blockbuster may just be the Jackie Robinson that brings cebiche into the major leagues. The marquee Pier 1 location will bring tourists, power lunchers, and destination diners to La Mar, who'll find an elegant but casual light-filled dining room with an original white, aquamarine and dark wood colorway that reflects that of the piers and bay outside its wall of back windows, while the fresh fish on the menu is harvested in the nearby Pacific but flavored through Peru's complex, fresh, citrus-y, spicy prism. The long L-shaped sushi-style cebiche bar and casual, as is the darker, street-facing bar and lounge, while money's on the 80-seat bayside heated patio to be the hot lunch ticket even in winter.

Worst service ever – We made reservations for La Mar and was told they were booked, understandable being that there was so much hype built up. We ended up making reservations late into the night and got there and had to wait an hour before we were seated, not at a table, but at the lounge. We still asked to be seated at a table when available. The hostess were very sweet and apologetic which was the only plus for the night. Finally a table was ready. Our food came and the waiter wasn't sure which dish was what. Because we are Peruvian we took a guess on two of them which were right. My plate hadn't arrived after everyone received theirs. We requested the server who then had some other guy come and tell us that my father in law had my plate. Half eaten he then gave it to me, and the man wasn't even apologetic for the confusion. All the food was done and his hadn't come yet either. This restaurant needs to train their waiters to make sure what dish they are serving and also need to place in all the orders at the same time!!!!!! The manager came but didn't do much of a difference either! Overall nice setting for a restaurant with good food but poor service!!!!!!
