Still a really cute little spot. Great happy hour deals and yummy food, though the staff did seem a bit overwhelmed.
Goose Hollow's Best – Primo happy hour, dinner, lunch, and brunch. Also a good selection of beer, whiskey. Go here.
Great Food, sub-par service – I have gone to the Leaky Roof on three separate occasions.
Trip 1: I didn't actually go to eat, but rather met with family toward the end of their dinner. It was evening, and the restaurant was full. The waiter was very nice, and the food appeared just as great as the service.
Trip 2: This time around, it was during happy hour and two of my friends came along. The place wasn't very busy, and the service was generally timely. The waiter however didn't seem to respect us very much. Although we were nearly the only people there.
Trip 3: This next time, it was again happy hour, and I brought my girlfriend with me. We were the only customers this time, and immediately the waiter was short in greeting us. We sat down and got our food timely, but the entire time, the waiter avoided us and didn't even smile. It's as if he didn't want us to be there. The burgers were delicious though.
On almost all of the occasions, we ordered off the happy hour, and tipped. So I can only assume the waiters are very judgmental about serving you based on age. Partially due to their location near a highschool (I'm sure they get a lot of disrespectful youth coming in from next door).
- Delicious and well-priced food during happy hour.
- Waiters seem to discriminate based on age.
I went to the Leaky Roof on a Sunday morning looking forward to a fantastic breakfast. What we got was the worst service and burnt food. After waiting for 45 minutes half of our our table got their food cold and over cooked. The rest of us waited for another 15 minutes, only to get our pancakes and french toast with no syrup. Finally 20 minutes after getting our pancakes the rest of our food arrived, half was cold and the other half was burnt again. I finally got tired of asking for my coffee that came with our check. There was no compensation offered. An hour and 45 minutes after walking in we all finally had our food and were able to leave. Worst service ever! The worst part is every one in our party had be a server at some point, we were all understanding about a busy day. However, walking away in the middle of a customer inquiring about their food after a hour wait is unacceptable as well as no apology.
I am sorry to hear your experience at The Leaky Roof was not what you had hoped nor what we expect. The entire brunch staff has been notified and changes have been made to remedy the problems to insure they will not happen again. Again, we are terribly sorry as we pride ourselves on our restaurants atmosphere, quality food, and excellent service. Please visit our website and leave your information on our contact card. I will contact you as soon as soon as I receive your contact information.
superb brunch experience! – I stopped by for breakfast this last weekend and omg! What a perfect place on a rainy morning. The fireplace was going, Stumptown coffee brewing, and happy chatter from the rest of the patrons. My server was friendly and attentive even though he had his hands full with dozens of people.
I'm very particular about my hollandaise sauce, and was not disappointed in the slightest after trying the Californian Bennedict (w/ avacado). Though i didn't have much room for it, I had to try a side order of their bicuits and gravy, and the South would be proud!
The meal was delivered in a timely fashion, the menu was well priced, the presentation was elegant but not fussy, and I heard nothing but compliments from departing patrons.
Thank you Leaky, I'll be back!
Great service and selection! – Good experience everytime! Worth a visit! Really enjoy the burgers, salads and soups! Friendliest staff I have experinced in quite some time!
charming little neighborhood spot – terrific. so many innovative takes on the traditional sandwich-and-fries genre. the preparation and presentation of the food are always flawless. the black bean burger is out of sight! (I'm an omnivore)
service is attentive, sincere. so many endearing qualities about this place. within a shabby exterior hides a cozy, modern, classy and clean little pub/restaurant. no disappointments here. rock on!
~Great service and awesome food~ – I met some friends at The Leaky Roof for Happy Hour on Friday night and had a great evening. The service was excellent and the appetizers were very tasty especially the coconut prawns. The environment was very cozy and welcoming. Had a great experience!!
Painfully disappointing – We had found The Leaky Roof about three years ago and managed to dine there many times before leaving town for a year on business. This had been one of our favorite restaurants and, for two foodies, one of the things we greatly looked forward to enjoying again when we returned to Portland. Unfortunately, in that year?s time, it has been sold. What was previously a stand out in a city packed with amazing restaurants has degraded into amateurish bar-food. We knew something was awry when we arrived at an almost vacant restaurant on a night where you would previously need reservations. The Guinness was badly poured and served far too cold. Under the previous Irish ownership, it was the best Guinness I had enjoyed outside of Ireland. The meat was not only bland but cold and uncooked in the center. We politely paid our bill after a few bites and went elsewhere for dinner. For those of you who had not been to the Leaky Roof under its previous owners, this is truly a loss for Portland. On a positive note (the only positive note), the staff were very friendly and courteous. Hopefully, they will do well once this restaurant is no longer able to trade on the reputation of the previous owners and eventually closes.
Great food, excellent drinks, and fun people – This place has the best food made with fresh local products. There Black-bean (veggie) burger is enough to quench the hunger of any carnivore. There calamari is great not chewy like other places. Their happy hour is great, along with $2 beers their pours are generous not watered down like most restaurants during happy hour. Its cozy size makes it feel homely along with the great fireplace, the staff is great, friendly and a smile away, and they are not always interrupting and not allowing you to finish your meal. This place is a great place to leave satisfied and almost feel as though u underpaid for such a good experience. A++ for this place?.
