Not Much Bang for Your Buck – City has a wine list featured on a blackboard with a number of selected whites and reds alongside recommendations from the staff. The staff recommendations are all at least sixteen dollars for a single glass. For a wonderful experience, this would be worth paying for, but both times I came here, that was not the case.
The food, a caprese sandwich, made it sound like it was prepared three ways when in fact it was just three small caprese sandwiches that were dead average.
Great Place for Wine! – City Sip is an awesome little wine bar. They carry a selection of wines that's sure to introduce you to something new, and they have flights tailored to the types of wines that you may enjoy. Quite simply, this is a wine bar run by people who love wine, and understand how to keep the wine experience fun and unpretentious without losing its sophistication. With slightly dim lighting accented by candles, this place is also a great date spot.
Great place! Great wine! – I went to City Sip with three of my friends about two months ago and absolutely loved it. (I am really into food and wine; my friends, not so much.) The man who greeted us and served us was so nice. He had great recommendations, including a white that was so tasty we decided we had to buy a bottle to take home with us. They have a good selection of cheese as well, pretty reasonably priced ($4/serving). But the best part is that my friends have been talking about it ever since we went. We can't wait to go back!
Wine-tasting with a twist: Newbies and veterans come together to learn about boutique wines and the unique stories that accompany each one. – In Short
Miles away from the hustle and bustle of the exclusive Sunset Strip, wine connoisseurs and wine-tasting newbies coexist at this laid back neighborhood wine bar. An economy-friendly haven for sippers, whose storefront sign boasts that its "wine is for the people," guests here are allowed to select and sample from over 40 bottles. But that's not all: Fancy cheese and charcuterie plates are also on the menu, delivering some nice noshing options to the casually dressed Echo Park locals who gather around the red wine-colored counter or at one of a handful of wooden tables. Emphasis is certainly placed on the wine selection rather than on frilly decor, though, as a colorful wine bottle mural--splattered along the back wall--is the only design element to truly catch the eye.
