Best irish Pub!!!!! – I had the best time at Flanns! The music is great and the service is awsome! I had a burger and i swear, it was the best I've had. The bartenders are great, not snobby, typical airhead bartenders. I went on a sunday nite and it had the best vibe!

Boisterous old timers and art students swill from frothy pints and munch on pub grub at this welcoming Irish bar. – In Short
Morrissey croons from the stacked jukebox near Flann O'Brien's well-worn pool table, while regulars and off-duty docs line a bar complete with 24 taps (enjoy hard-to-find imports like Belhaven and Boddington's). Guinness signs, oil paintings of Ireland's finest scribes and a collection of kitschy knick-knacks round out the decor. Build your own burger for about $6, or try a made-to-order wrap. More traditional offerings include bangers and beans, or a hearty Irish breakfast.

A neighborhood pub, open to all – We just found Flann's after moving in this week and are new to the Mission Hill/Longwood area.

I had to take a second to write a few words about Flann's because we had an absolute blast there the other night!

My wife and I stopped in for dinner and the food was great (I had the pulled pork and my wife had the veggie burger). We were also very happy with the vibe from the patrons and the employees. Flann's was warm and welcoming. They played a great selection of music and what caught our eyes was that they had one of the most diverse crowds I've ever seen in a local/neighborhood style Irish pub - students, doctors, young, old and everthing in between. It was an all around great experiance, minus the slight hangover. Quality food, served hot and without delay, fair prices, a polite staff that made us feel at home and a surprisingly good beer selection. We look forward to going back.

Our First Friday at Flann's – We found Flann?s after work.It was recommended by a co-worker of mine who was always raving about her neighborhood pub.I was frequently told of its charm&one of a kind vibe mornings@work,post her crazy weekends out.As a bunch of 20-somethings who usually venture out to our fancy downtown digs,we chose Flann?s,a small local instead?and it lived up to all our expectations.

Of what little I/we remember is this:We had dinner from what turned out to be a menu that has typical Irish fare&pub grub, but went well above our expectations. We were very content with the service. What came as a surprise was that we not only had a friendly&responsive waitress, but the entire staff was visibly checking on tables too?occasionally asking if we needed anything. The beer selection was fantastic there had to have been 30 draft choices alone?nevermind the bottles.

Flann?s got packed and our crowd of 9 people had grown as a result of our table location&the eclectic mix of students, very entertaining locals and professionals.Walking the floor was the pub?s owner who greeted us and from what we ascertained is a fixture, greeting patrons and running the crew?this was a great sign. The place was jumping, the music was bumping and the bartenders were serving top notch,SUPER strong cocktails (and for our cheaper friends:pitchers that even welfare case pals can afford)!

The food was great,as was the ambiance, such as stained glass&intimate lighting. The service was friendly&very attentive?you know the service is good on Friday when you remember the servers name on Monday. At the end of the night the few of us who remained were allowed to finish our drinks, without the hoooahh yellin of doormen that people come to expect in some pubs?notably, the bartender asked if we needed him to call a cab to get home safe.

A complete night out?done VERY affordably,in the company of good people,in a not-so-typical pub.The music kept us movin, the pool kept the guys busy and I even got to dance on the bar!

AVOID THIS PLACE (OR AT LEAST THE PENNY PINCHING WAITRESSES!!!!) – Hey, a word to the wise: Go to this bar if you like....

1. Being ignored by the waitresses ALL NIGHT LONG.

2. Being served Bud Light when you order Sam Seasonal.

3.Being charged for Sam Seasonal when you got Bud Light (but had ordered Sam Seasonal).

4. Arguing with the waitress to try and prove that you indeed got Bud Light (who is really going to lie to save 2 or 3 bucks?!)

5. Not always being able to get a seat.

6. Having the waitress take it upon herself to put everyone at your table on the same tab without even asking how you'd like the bill split.

7. Having the waitress refuse to split the bill once you've realized she charged you all on the same one.

8. Having an automatic 18 % gratuity added onto that bill that you never wanted to be together in the first place!

9. Being yelled at for taking too long to sort that same bill out to make sure the waitress got the right amount of money.

10. Being yelled at by a bartender who you know and who has served you - a loyal customer of 2 years.

11. Being yelled at by a waitress who claims she deserves the automatic 18 % gratuity that she added onto your group bill (which you never wanted to be a group bill in the first place) because she "works her butt off and goes home with only 10 dollars at the end of the night." (Since when does one table have to be responsible for covering the lack of respect and tips that the WHOLE REST of the bar doesn't give some waitress!?!?!?)

12. Being yelled at by ANYONE who works at this bar when all you were trying to do was solve a problem for them and make their job easier, especially when you've been a loyal, respectable customer for years.

13. Basically being flat out disrespected and mistreated.

This bar needs to pay the waitresses more so they can stop pinching pennies and mistreating loyal customers and to stop worrying so much about scraping every penny they can get and worry more about customer service and continuity of loyal customers they already have!!!!

Flans – This is an Irish bar at it's best, not the crappy meat market, drunk houses you get in Fanuel Hall. This Place ooses personality. The walls are covered in good photo's of Ireland and paintings of Irish Poets. There is a very diverse crowd ranging in race, religion, sexual orientation. Weather you are Black, white, staright or gay, Irish or Icelandic all are welcome. I believe it was the poet Flann O'Brien who said "there are no stangers here, just friends you have not met" and it holds true in this bar.

plan for Flann's – My girfriend broke a glass here and was mortified. She apologized profusely and was told ' Miss ,this is a bar please don't worry about it.' That is the right answer, interesting room, diverse crowd, awesome juke. What else could you want? A pool table , they have that also.
