Finally, a Great North Austin Day Spa! – I'm a pretty regular spa-goer (especially for a man) -- my guilty pleasure in life is getting regular massages. I'm also one of those people that's always willing to try the new place even though I have my favorites.
Milk + Honey has always been a favorite (if by "always" I mean since the 2nd Street District location opened). Spa Reveil is a very similar feel to the downtown M+H location (I haven't been to the Galleria), only conveniently located for those of you that may live in North Austin (which is seriously lacking in good spas).
Spa Reveil is gorgeous. It's biggest upsides are free use of the steam room in each locker room and nice, big showers to take a few minutes in. It's nice to be able to steam for a few minutes before a treatment just to get your body centered and relaxed. The whole treatment is better at that point. There's a beautiful waiting area once you get your robe on with large chaise lounges separated by screens -- very private even though you could be in a room with a few other people waiting.
Oh, and the massage -- there is that. Again, I've had hundreds of massages in my day and Melissa was in the top 3 or 4. I'm a tough person to work on because I have an incredibly tight musculature, but Melissa took it in stride and I felt more rejuvenated after this particular massage than I have after 95% of the massages I've had.
It's not fair to rank one spa over another, but I'll say that if you love Milk + Honey, Spa Reveil will give you a very similar experience. It's an urban feel (which for me I list as a "con" but that's the sort of the point of an urban day spa), lots of clean lines, great service and great services.
Top notch facility – This spa has an affordable and wide range of services. If you ever get a spa lunch the food and the setup is excellent. The lady who did my facial did a great job, I got several compliments when I got back to work and nobody even knew I had gone to the spa!
Lake Austin Spa - You Have a Rival. – This place rivals Lake Austin Spa! (True, it doesn't have the grounds, the pool, the overnight accommodations or the restaurant. But for day spa treatments, look no further.)
I won a gift certificate for a Moroccan Bath Treatment, and really had no idea what to expect.
The place is gorgeous, with their signature design elements incorporated into the facility, the website, the marketing materials. Really beautifully done! All little details are fantastically presented, from the tile work to the towels.
Adrianna, the receptionist, was accommodating and patient. Kristie, the message therapist, was warm, friendly, professional and approachable. Really top notch, IMO.
The Moroccan Bath Tradition treatment was AMAZING. I had no idea what this was going to be, and I was really impressed. The room is warm and comfortable. Laying on a massage table draped with a foil blanket, in a tiled room, the Lime Body Wash was applied with a washcloth in a circular motion. My favorite part was the gritty coffee exfoliation that followed. Kristie goes the extra step and applies it with a light pressure massage, paying special attention to heels, knees, hands and elbows. It was wonderful! The vichy shower is basically a long pipe with 6 rotating shower heads. (The pipe is waved over you, and the showers heads are adjusted to rinse off all the soaps and creams. The temperature was perfect!) Flip over, and repeat.
Next, Kristie asked me to dry off, and then had me sit out of the way, while she pulled all the wet stuff of the massage table, and uncovered dry sheets and towels. After returning to the table, Kristie applied a light moisturizer (which smells delicious). This wasn't just a covering of lotion - it was a full body massage, with great pressure! Kristie is my new favorite!
Lastly, the treatment ended with a relaxing and yet invigorating scalp massage, which was the icing on the cake.
After regaining my senses, Kristie walked me back to the lounge, and offered me a glass of water with lemon. Then I retreated back to the steam room for another 10 minute steam, before leaving on a cloud.
WARNING: This treatment is not for the shy. (It occurs in the buff, although every discretion is implemented.) This treatment is not for the ticklish. (The water jets kinda tickle.)
I had to do it - I booked a hydrotherapy bath for the end of the month. I just have to check out that fancy tub! Oh, and I need to make sure I ask for Kristie.
The perfect escape! – From the moment you step into Spa Reveil, you can feel the soothing energy. The staff are wonderful, and kind. We had the couples massage, and it was everything and more that you would want out of a couples massage at price you can't beat. Spa Reveil is the perfect mini-vacation for yourself or with that special someone. I also love that I can spend the whole day at the spa pampering myself. Thanks Spa Reveil!
Excellent all the way around! – If you are looking for a wonderful spa you found it! Kim, Katie and everyone at Spa Reveil will make you feel welcome, relaxed and special. From my very first phone call to Kim to plan an office spa party to our final goodbyes when our special day was over, I happily give my highest recommendation. Give them a call, you will be very happy that you did!
Editorial Review – Spa Reveil at the Domain extends a relaxing list of spa treatments and services to their clients.
The most wonderful facial treatment! – This is a new wonderful spa located at the Domain, and I had the best facial treatment with Jacqueline. I highly recommend her. I will definitely come back for more. Thank you Spa Reveil!
Excellent open-air venue – I visited the Domain last time I was in Austin (re: 9/20-ish), and was surprised by it. We originally ended up there to visit Macy's, but ended up wandering around a bit. The last thing I was expecting when we pulled up to a pretty average Macy's was to walk through it and have it attached to a pretty posh little shopping area. I love the open air atmosphere, and the shopping selection is excellent. It's clearly geared toward higher end shoppers, but that's fine with me! We also took a few moments to have a snack at the Steeping Room, which was also excellent. I enjoyed my few hours at the Domain so much that I plan to make it a stop on my friend's brithday weekend coming up at the end of the month.
I have to agree with the last review.... – I'm an avid shopper to say in the least and like every other girl enjoy my quality labels. I've been to most of the store here at the domain and they're great, pricey but great - a little sense of the big town for the good city of Austin. I liked it so much I decided to move in. That, however, wasn't as great as I thought it would be. If they have an event or something it's a nightmare to get home with the crowd and the traffic and the NOISE. Lots of noise at that when there's a concert or anything that catered. My apt. is over Louis Vuitton and I enjoy a great view especially when the weather is nice. I definitely rec. the shopping the not so much the residential.
Shopping here Yes, Living here NO! – The Domain is a great place to spend your weekends-shopping, eating, hanging out. However, I can't say the same for living here. Tremendous cost for what you pay and what you get. Horrible maintenance and huge "we don't really care" attitude from management AND the owners. As soon you're reeled into a lease, forget about being tended to when the need arises. The grounds do not get regular care-maybe by the fancy shops but no where near to where you live. This includes the parking garage, the resident elevator (which is a trash bin), the hallways, the common area under your balcony where trash accumulates. Your apartment is not worth a 1000+ rent check. The finishing touches on the apartment are atrocious: jutting carpet tacks, cheap shedding carpet, scratches all over your "new" wood floors, paint on the windows, no soundproofing whatsoever. It's so not worth it. Trust me. At the very least if you must see it for yourself, sign the shortest lease possible.
