Awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, etc. – There is nothing good about this place. Stay far, far away. The food is terrible, drinks are just about the worst I've had and the servers are surly and inattentive.
And the atmosphere...oh my. You can't really get in the front door without passing some kind of drama. In the parking lot, we have seen people using cocaine, fighting with metal pipes, running a midnight car-wash business, sleeping in cars and screaming at each other. If you're lucky, you might get to experience a real live motorcycle gang up close. Exciting!
Suffice it to say that we will never, ever, ever, ever, ever go back here. It's bad enough living nearby this cesspool.
Aloha Tiki Toms in Oakland =) – On a Sunday towards end of August, my cousins, sis, & myself try to figure out where to have a Sunday dinner after a church afternoon picnic & kickin' it @ my cousin's pool for a few hours? Well, the ladies & I spontaneously found our way over to Tiki Tom's to end our wkend *tee-hee* Great choice that ended w/ scrum-didly-umptous food, great service, & full tummies...Aloha in deed!
LOCATION: In Oakland yes, but literally right on the other side of the Park Bridge that connects Oakland & Alameda. Diagonal to Nick's Restaurant & 7-Eleven. Its location kinda of tricky, but it's not hard to miss; u can drive in a loop around 7-Eleven if u miss ur turn to drive in their parking lot. Plenty of parking in private lot; unsheltered, no trees, & public.
RESTAURANT: Bar area to the right upon entrance, dinning area center, & appeared on left side more space possibly to RSVP for large parties. Spacious & plenty of 4-seater tables; armless chairs, but what I'd like to say "hip-hugging-chairs", still comfy tho. Welcoming for folks any age & size. Large windows offer all patrons plenty natural light & great views of the waterfront by the Park Bridge. I noticed outdoor seating options, but it's upon entrance so ur view is of the parking lot & not the other side of restaurant w/ waterfront.
CUST SVC: Awesome! The hostess/waitress told the 4 of us to pick our table..if it wasn't clean, she'd buss it else feel free pick a table that was ready. Our waitress provided excellent cust svc to us & all other patrons dinning in, as she was the only one on the floor really. It was a decent crowd dinning in around 6:30pm & she managed well. Polite, thorough, friendly, & prompt. The staff working in the bkgd (out of sight) did great w/ food/drink preparation allowing our waitress to perform great. Mgr came around asking if everything was ok as well. Keep up the great work team!
COCKTAILS: I had the Key Lime, which coated the rim of the martini glass in graham crackers, & my cousin had the Pina Colada (yes, my sister-Estella is rockin' out her Flower Cocktail Ring) My cousin enjoyed her Pina Colada, nothing truly special but good. Ur light weight Yelper here handled the Key Lime ok, but prob not get again 'cuz the taste of it just didn't do it for me...I'll stick w/ my Edward's Key Lime pie from Target/Safeway ;-)
ENTREES: I had Jumbo Prawn Skewers w/ the choice of homemade mashed potatoes, my sister-Estella had Fish & Chips, cousin had Lua Cheeseburger & Fries, & other cousin had Jumbo Stuffed Prawns w/ the homemade mashed potatoes too. Everything about everyone's dish was deeelicious! Hot, fresh, cooked as requested, crunchy & soft where it should be, & seasoned nicely. Ended w/ 3 desserts: Upside Down Pineapple Cake for me, Chocolate Cake for one cousin, Vanilla Sundae for other cousin, & sis got "The Trio"...she got a small plate fr waitress & sampled fr all our dessert plates =) I slipped up & didn't take any pics, but absolutely ENJOYED my Upside Down Pineapple Cake! Everything we ate gets a recommendation here folks.
FINAL TAB: So we spent about $101 & some change that included 2 cocktails, 1 soda, 1 coffee, 4 entrees, & 3 desserts. Definitely would come back & would consider this place to RSVP a dinner party too. Mahalo Tiki Tom's =)
Tom Drops his pants, assualts women, and physically threatens guest – Tiki Tom himself is amongst the most unprofessional and slovenly restaurateurs I have ever met. His approach to business is certain to make this place a Flop. Whether it is Tom getting so drunk he can't stand, assaulting women at his bar, dropping his pants and dancing around he bar, or physically threatening civil, SOBER, paying customers Tom clearly has a ways to go in understanding how to run a business.
TIKI TOMS BLEW ME AWAY - NICE PLACE – this place went from good to blah...great location, horrible food and the service is better at mcdonalds at rush hour
Editorial Review – This East Bay tiki joint serves tasty treats like coconut shrimp, teriyaki steak and pineapple upside down cake, alongside cheap tropical drinks looking over a not-so-tropical estuary.
