Worst hair experience in all my 39 years! – My appointment was to start @ 10:30. At about 10:45, my stylist came to get me. I knew I wanted some color and a style; honestly, I'm not very fussy about my hair, so just told the stylist & her supervisor that I needed something user-friendly, cut a couple of inches off, and give my hair body through layering. They reviewed colors with me. We decided on a blonde and red for highlights. The supervisor reviewed with the stylist his specific ideas for what sounded like a great haircut. I had a round of errands to try to get done after my appointment before picking up my daughter and three of my friends' children at 3PM. As my appointment started at 10:30, I didn't think this should be a problem--I was willing to cut out the errands as needed, but couldn't be late for the kids, so verified with my stylist how long it would all take, hoping for two hours. She told me she couldn't be done in two hours, but three should not be a problem. After three and a half hours I made emergency calls to friends/family to arrange for the children to get picked up from play practice. After four hours, she had only completed the blonde highlights. She told me she was almost done. HA! I continued to pour through every bit of four outdated magazines as I sat with clips, etc., in my hair waiting and wondering what on earth was taking to long. Shortly thereafter, my stylist informed me she had to leave for her other job at 3:00 and that her supervisor would take over. A while later, he came and added red highlights. Another 35-40 minutes of waiting, without anyone coming to let me know what was going on. I finally went to the front desk in total frustration (although I was NOT impolite). I wanted to know what was dragging my "3-hour max" appointment into its 5th hour. The desk receptionist told me she would check for me. 20 minutes later, I was pawned off on another stylist to rinse me out. I asked her how much longer it would take to get my hair cut/styled. She asked, "You're getting it cut, too?". Another 20 minutes later, the supervisor who originally suggested the style to the original stylist asked if I wanted a trim. I said, "No, I want the style you descrjbed to my original stylist nearly six hours ago." He told me he forgot what he'd described. Finally, after a grueling six hours, I paid (no reduction or apologies), went and paid for a full day parking next door and got stuck in rush hour traffic on my drive home. I realize this is a beauty SCHOOL, however, it would serve them well to demonstrate and teach some customer service skills. I spent less time delivering my twin sons than I did today getting highlights and a very basic hair cut. I would never recommend this beauty school to anyone!

FANTASTIC HIGHLIGHTS – I have been to PMS now 2 times and have been more than impressed with the service I have received. I was used to spending $100+ on hair and certainly needed a change. First time I went in, my hair was highlighted by Aaron and last time it was done by Irene. They both truly rock at what they do and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to work with such amazing stylists. The price and service is unbeatable and you wont regret giving them a try.

Never go here to get your nails done!!!!! – This was my first time using PM Beauty School and I will NEVER go back. I was there for a set of acrylic nails, which was a total waste of my time and money. I understand that this is a school and we pay about 60% of the normal price for a reason. BUT the girl who did my nails chatted with her friends the entire time about "hot clients" in the other room. She would continually stop doing my nails to talk to her friends (other students) and look through the nail room door to check out guys getting their hair done. Apparently hot men don't come in very often, or so they said. Ugh. On top of that my nails took almost 3 hours to put on! To top it all off, my nails looked absolutely horrible and 4 nails came off within 24 hours. I had to rip the rest off (which came off easily) because I couldn't stand to look at them anymore. It was a complete and total waste of money and I would suggest to anyone thinking of going there... DON'T. - At least never get your nails done there.

Pleasantly Surprised! – I had never been to this salon before. I really wanted to get a brazilian wax before going on vacation. I saw that Paul Mitchell did them for $25. I made an appointment for a Saturday afternoon. The place was REALLY busy. As I waited I liked what I saw the hair stylists doing (I will probably go back to get a hair cut). My appointment was delayed by 20 mins (no big deal, they were busy). When it was my time I informed my stylist that I have NEVER been waxed, and to walk me through the process. She did a great job explaining what she was doing and what to expect. She was super professional and nice, I will be going back to get it done again. THANK YOU!

Need a lot of time – If you're looking for a good pick-me-up and have time to spare, then visit the Paul Mitchell Institute. You should know what you want and the price range you want to spend. The students are geared to give you more services than you may want - ask for a senior student whose specialty is what you need" color, cut, style, etc.

My one visit here has mixed reviews - took 4 hours for their shine treatment and trim - not sure why - but my hair did look really good in the end. It ended up costing more than quoted but this time I just let it go.
