Best food in the area, sad to see that its closed forever. – Taino Soleil had a great $7 lunch special, and I'm sad that its closed.
Its been replaced by "Downtown Ale House", which looks like its opening in the next few weeks.
Taino, you'll be missed.
Great Food and very attentive Staff – I've been here plenty of times and have never been disappointed. Love to start with Empanadas followed by their traditional Dominican chicken stew, the wait Staff is friendly and attentive and their Drinks are Great and never weak.
Great Place, Amazing Service, Wonderful Staff – I celebrated my 30th Birthday @ Taino Soleil and was treated like Royalty!!! From reserving the space, to communication right up until the date of the event, to coat check, bartenders, The staff here is amazing Both the manager and owner made sure my birthday was PERFECT!!!! I had aproximately 120 guest, and they all raved about how wonderful the place was and how nice the staff was. The food her is absolutely amazing, and everything (including their bottle svc.) is reasonably priced!!! I would recommend this place to anyone! Whether you want to have great food and great drinks or you want to find a happening party on the weekend, Taino Soleil is a Winner!!!! Thanks Taino Soleil for making my 30th Birthday The BEST!!!
great food – I came here last week, looking for a good Spanish spot and came out on a Wednesday. The food was EXCELLENT! I had the prix fixe deal, which is awesome - $20 for 3 courses, app, starter (soup or salad), and entree. Had the banana black bean empanada to start - absolutely lip-smackingly tasty! Then I had the soup - "sancocho" - something different, the waitress told me about it because I had never had it, but am always interested in trying new cuisine. AMAZING. Very rich, thick soup with root veggies and pork, it was a rainy day so it was sooo satisfying (I recommend eating only half tho or you are going to get too full for your main course! Take the rest home.) For my main course I got the chicken quesadilla. Frankly, possibly the best quesadilla I've had in New York, the spices and cheeses were so en point, just super, super tasty. Served with fresh fresh guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. The waitress tried to sell us on this new dessert that sounded like a giant banana split but our stomachs were about to split, so we passed. Sounded good tho! I am definitely coming back, the food is great, unpretentious, friendly staff, and they have excellent deals. There were free salsa lessons too but by course 2 I was pretty much only good for playing spectator. Looking forward to trying other stuff on the menu.
Fun place, great food and even better drinks – A good friend of mine recommended to us this place not long ago, so we decided to try it, and we are SO glad we did. You'll not be able to find places like this without having to go to the city.
After looking for parking for 15 minutes, I wasn't in the best of moods, but the friendly staff, the relax ambiance and the GREAT food took care of that very fast.
The party atmosphere was so contagious that we decided to stay, and a couple of hours and many drinks later we were having a blast.
Definetely a place to recommend
A Note from Taino Soleil Management – Dear Valued Patrons,
We at Taino Soleil are so sorry that you are exposed to having to read these hateful and offensive words in the following reviews. If you will note, the last true review was written by a top guest on her birthday, in which she made known the the DJ we employed that night was inexcusably rude to her. Because our customer's happiness is our #1 priority, we immediately took action and let go of the DJ who failed to show proper respect. As you can see for yourself, he went on a review vengeance spree and has blasted our Citysearch boards with inane nonsense in hopes of sabatoging our business. While we are disgusted at the gross language he uses, we are also confident that you readers are savvy enough to smell a bogus review when you read one.
Thank you all so much for your time, and we hope to see you here at Taino Soleil!
staff is great and very on piont – wonderfull great a one in a milliion place
place rocks – I work across the street from Taino at Transit. I come here at least 3x a week for lunch and afterwork drinks. Fridays are my favorite - my girlfriends and me come to Taino for afterwork drinks and do drinks. something about 2 dollar shots that drives me crazy!!!!!1 Their burgers rock!! I recommend this place for afterwork - its a party there.
I was horrified! – It was over... way OVER-Crowded and jam packed with what seemed to be immigrants that give you NO space. My anxiety levels shot through the roof! First of all my food tasted hard and rubbery and to top it off i found a long hair in my steak (resembled a pubic hair) The overall mass production of food made for poor quality food. Yuck! And, for what you get, I absolutely do not believe this was worth the money. When i went o the bathroom it was filthy, it resembled a murder scene with the graffiti tagged stalls and profanity written all over them Who is this Beelman person it seems people reccomend her for a good time. There were several puerter ricans beligerantly drunk and making sexual suggestive gestures towards me and my girl friend. It would not have been so bad if they happened not to be the waiters. The service was absoluteley horrendous ill mannered and they even short changed me. I argued with the cahier for several minuites about the $14 dollars they pocketed.
To top it all off our car had been burglarised and our entire dashboard was ripped out when they stole the radio. However we found a dreadlock dangling in the broken glass. the police said they really did not have anything to go on.
Do I sound angry? I guess I am a bit. I just hate wasting time, money and a good meal - a meal where I could have enjoyed something delicious and of the highest freshness and quality in a relaxing environment.
DO NOT GO! Please, if you are like me..and you just don't know, I beg you...do not go. Just listen to your Epicurista and head out to your favorite restaurant, where you will beat the massive crowds and enjoy a relaxing meal with a wonderful glass of wine.
The New DJ not that good :( ..... – I guess tghis spot got a new DJ. Me and my buddies went in to find a 40 year old asian man in a Tuxedo and fitted Starter hat with the tag still on.... HUH???!!! Anyways we were like 'oh well' but the strange thing was was that all that was playing was crappy 80s music. The guy spun "Like a Virgin" THREE times that night and when he did he just closed his eyes and rocked back and forth like that was his anthem or something. Very strange. Anyway my boy asked him to possibly play something more current and when the said Asian DJ guy came closer so he could hear him my friend told me that he could smell Kim-Chee on his breath. After the show and during closing time i noticed this little Asian man was going up to two girls that just threw up in one of the vases in the restaurant and was trying to slip them his mix cd's with his phone number on it. The funny part was his DJ name that i saw on the CD case... "RiceDick". Yes. 'Ricedick'. I dont know what kind of self respecting 40 year old chinese DJ calls himself "RiceDick" but what do i know right??? He was trying to invite them to a wedding he was Dj'ing the following weekend. Saying there would be one hour of free open bar, but they just kept throwin up but this RiceDick guy just kept rubbin her back and sayin 'Let it all out babygirl'! Kind of gross. Now another one of my boys told me he used the bathroom when the dj came up to the stall next to him with a toilet paper in his hand. And my boy said he was wiping his little peener sideways making DJ scratching noises as he wiped the urine of his thing in a sideways motion. Obviously the DJ was drunk at this point as i dont think he knew how silly he looked. All in all we wont be back to peep anymore of DJ "RiceDick"s uncalled for antics.
