I'm going to go ahead and bet that this is the only restaurant you'll ever go to in New York that has an in-house dietician working with the chef. There's an elaborate dogma behind the place, which serves a kind of elevated spa cuisine, but you wouldn't know it from the food, which while coming in small portions, tends to have very distinct and assertive flavors. The room is big and handsome, but don't expect to get out of here for less than $100 a person.

BRAVO! – i've been to many, many, (did i say many?) nyc restaurants, and rouge tomate has made my favorite list. from the "compliments of the chef" to the entree, it was A+! well worth a trip!

AMAZING! – Where to begin? My girlfriend and I came in from the cold and rain for a post shopping mid-afternoon snack and wound up spending three and a half hours at the bar. Started off with a butternut squash soup (not on the menu yet) as well as a broccoli soup, both were incredible, and while they tasted like they included a healthy portion of creme fresh, both were apparently incredibly healthy as well (not sure if I entirely believe the claim that a full meal there (one app, entre and desert) rings in below or at 1,000 calories). We also split a calamari dish as well that was superbly tasty and finished with an amazing poached pear desert. However the real highlight came from the bar, over the three hours we sat at the bar, I think between the two of us we tried almost every single cocktail they had, and I must say there were all amazing. They all incorporate premium liquors, but more so amazingly fresh juices and mixers (the bar has its own juicing kitchen!!) and were concocted by their master bartender (he doesn?t like the term mixologist) Rain, and two of his bartenders James and Christian. We already have plans to come back for a lunch and dinner. In summary, the space, the food and the drinks all truly make Rouge Tomate a must for everyone to try. Also a big shout out to Yoki (one of the managers) who took excellent care of us.

Perfect dining experience – I went to Rouge Tomate last night and had one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. The decor is modern, but warm, and you can easily see that there was a tremendous amount of attention put into every detail within this beautiful space. All of the staff was extremely friendly and attentive, definitely different from the experiences I've had with staff in some of the other high-end restaurants in that area. The special cocktails were unlike any I have had before, but they were great despite some unusual combinations. And the food was amazing! The portions were generous and every dish that my friends and I ordered were full of flavor. I was amazed to find out after my meal that the restaurant is focused on creating healthy, nutritionally balanced plates and that they don't use any butter or cream in their dishes! I would recommend the squab or potato and egg appetizer and the black cod or duck entree (and I'm usually not a big fan of duck!). Overall, the entire experience was wonderful and I can't wait to go back to the restaurant again to try out their Winter menu, which I was told was coming out soon.

A True Delight – I can safely say that this was easily the best meal I've ever eaten. Not just because of the brilliant taste - the way they perfectly poached my egg on my Market Potato and Farm Egg appetizer, the small glass of fresh apple juice used to cleanse my palette after my Lettuce and Root Vegetable Cassoulet and before my Banana Chocolate dessert - but the simple thought put into everything in this restaurant, from the interior design to the compost/ recycling system in the kitchen, makes you aware that you're not just eating dinner; you are doing something good for your health, for your local farms and the environment. The waiters are knowledgeable of the menu and of the philosophy that has built the foundation of this lovely restaurant. The dessert alone is worth the $72 prix-fixe. They also make an incredible espresso and most of the wines they offer are organic. They have a cafe upstairs with cheaper a la carte options, though I suggest saving your money for the real deal, as I assure you, you won't regret it.

Relaxing at Rouge Tomate – After walking by a few times we left our way Upper West neighborhood to try Rouge Tomate and were rewarded with a super chill dining environment (even on a Friday night), gorgeous cleanly designed surroundings, extremely attentive service, delicious wines by the glass (even passed the test with my partner who is French and quite a wine guy) and creative organic food. We ate in the less pricey upstairs "cafe" & dined on a comfortable settee on wild bass a la plancha over a rich seafood stew, creative display of hummus and dips, and a vegan handmade pumpkin ravioli with the most delicious mushroom truffle sauce and braised brussel sprouts (I don't even like brussel sprouts but ate every last one!) The downstairs dining room has a different menu and higher prices but a nice prix fixe, we can't wait to go back and try. The bar also makes hand crafted cocktails with fresh fruit and house made ginger ale. The whole evening was so great, topped off by spice tartletts and ginger gelato, that I had to take time to add a review.

The complete experience – Dined there for lunch this past saturday with a friend. What a great experience. From the moment we were warmly greeted by the hostess, to the final goodbye from our friendly and knowledgeable server, it was a complete experience. the decor is beautiful. We sat upstairs in the Cafe area. The menu is ala carte and reasonably affordable. Very modern, but so warm, makes you feel comfortable and at home. We met Chris, one of the managers, and he was the perfect host. The food came to our table timely and was of the highest and freshest quality. We had three courses, as we were guided by our server, and could not have been more satisfied. Enjoyed a few drinks there as well. The Bitter Orange was so delicious, and my friend had a Velvet Siena which was a non alcoholic drink that was so balanced and fresh. Its worth a trip to Midtown on a saturday, or anyday for that matter. Book early and often! Best of all,, the food is good for you! who knew healthy could taste so amazing. I cant wait to try the price fix dinner offered in their dining room.

Excellent – Had dinner in the dining room a few days after the restaurant opened. Wonderful experience - helpful and knowledgeable wait staff, interesting and varied menu, great wine list, beautiful space. At our waiter's advice, I ordered the yellowtail appetizer and the gnocchi entree. Both were absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. Had a lovely glass of cotes du rhone and a delightful banana chocolate napoleon for dessert. The tab is pricey - $72 per person pre fixe - but very worth it considering the freshness of the food and the care taken to prepare it. The upstairs is a walk-in only cafe with reasonable prices, so try that if the dining room is too pricey. Go before it gets a write up in one of the papers and getting a reservation becomes impossible.

This Upper East Side spa-restaurant focuses on healthful fare that adheres to a specific international nutrition plan. – In Short
Coming to New York on a wave of optimism and ideology, this high-concept modern American restaurant follows the principles of S.P.E. (sourcing, preparing, enhancing) and an international nutrition manifesto--there's even an in-house nutritionist who works with chef Jeremy Bearman, a Robuchon and DB Bistro alumni. The food, meanwhile, looks a lot like the refined, seasonal work done in other restaurants like Hearth and Market Table: cured Arctic char with dikon, Moroccan-spiced Hudson Valley duck, and the like. There's an elaborate cocktail program, as you might expect, and an especially sleek and beautiful room, with a floor-to-ceiling "tomato tower" and booths jutting here and there from the modernist walls of cream and tan.
