I was seriously hobbled from an accident and surgery, and Dr. Trakis got me fixed up much faster than I thought possible. Very hands-on treatment, knowledgeable and friendly staff, as enjoyable experience as you can have when you're seriously hurt. I'm not actually looking forward to being injured again, but at least I'll know where to go for PT.
The moment you step foot into Fortius Physical Therapy, you’re greeted warmly by their friendly staff. The vibe is laid back, with good music playing in the background, but the attitude is serious when it comes to healing.
Dr. Trakis and Dr. Gellert are both highly knowledgeable, qualified and determined to help you get better. They make you feel comfortable and their easy-going manner helps you forget the hard work involved with rehabilitation.
I would definitely recommend them, over and over!
Excellent Physical Therapy office – After ankle surgery, I was recommended by a friend to go to Fortius PT b/c Jim Trakis is "a Healer". My friend was absolutely right. I left my first appointment with a smile and confidence my ankle would recover and it has. Jim, Josh and the rest of staff bring an incredible kind of energy to their jobs. Both PT's are very knowledgable and thorough, and the office is that kind of happy place you wish you worked at. I was back running on both feet in no time and I owe it all to the high quality of care I received at Fortius PT. I highly recommend this office to anyone.
Superb! – Fortius Physical Therapy is a rock solid place- I found them through NY Road Runners and couldn't be happier. I went in because of a knee injury (which found I had to get surgery) and my recovery has been very successful. Jim Trakis is a great PT, he is very nice guy and very knowledgable. The entire office is awesome and is like one big happy family. God forbid that I ever have another injury, but if I do, hands down Foritus will be the one helping me out.
If You Need Physical Therapy, Go to Fortius. Period. – Have you seen the movie Happy Gilmore? Where Adam Sandler goes to his "Happy Place"? Well, Fortius Physical Therapy is my happy place. The staff there - Jim, "Sir" John, and Nicole - are so friendly and welcoming that I actually look forward to my visits. And on top of being fun and outgoing, they know how to get results.
I'm a former college athlete, and I still follow an intense fitness program. I ask a lot of my body, and sometimes that means I get a little banged up. I've been to Fortius for two separate problems, and I can honestly say that I do not remember a time where my legs felt as good as they do now while I'm running. They don't just get you back to where you were before you got hurt, they actually make you better.
Professional, Amicable and effective! – I started seeing Jim when I was working Midtwon for a lower back injury. His diagnostic, exercises regime and follow up have consistently been spot on and I have always finished treatment feeling stronger than ever before and fully ready to jump back into my sporting activities of choice.
I now work downtown and have a lower back injury but still make it up to Fortius as I know that I'll get back in shape to continue my(injury prone!!) sports.
As an added bonus, Jim and his staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Believe it or not, the plus side of having an injury these days is I get to go hang out with Jim&Co!
I absolutely recommend Fortius PT.
Very Pleased with visit – I'm not sure that the below review is an accurate description of the physical therapist I saw because he was nothing but attentive to all my needs. The staff was really cool and very easy to talk to. I felt like I was the only patient there.
Jim is a great therapist who helped greatly improve the torn ligament in my foot. I recommend Fortius PT
Nice staff but bad attention to patients – I was excited to go to Fortius for injuries after reading all these good reviews.
Since I was only there twice, I can't comment on Jim's qualifications and abilities, but I can say that I felt neglected during my appointments. I went for two sessions and sadly, I don't think I'll be going back.
I felt very unattended and cared for in his office. During my second visit, despite being the only patient in his office, Jim spent much of the session doing other things besides working on me. He was on the phone with a friend discussing his contract work and renovations on his house, took a patient call, and was chatting in the waiting area, while I was in the other room waiting for him to treat me.
He would give me one stretch, leave for 10 minutes, apply heat on my affected areas and come by 5 minutes after the timer went off. This happened repeatedly through the course of almost 90 minutes. He finally sent one of his office employees (not a physical therapist) to work with me through my final stretches.
All the wasted time at the appointment left me late for work. While I appreciate the over the top friendliness in the office, it's not a substitute for good, attentive care. I'd rather be treated in a more professional and attentive manner.
THE BEST PHYSICAL THERAPIST – After over 20 years of suffering with neck and lower back pain, I finally found Jim. From the minute you walk into his office, you feel the warmth and caring from him and his staff and once your session begins, you know that you are in good hands.
Jim is intelligent and knows how to help you. He also surrounds himself with good and talented people. It is very true that you feel like you are part of his family.
I've only been treated for a couple of weeks now, but I already feel relief from my chronic pain. Working with Jim and Kristin has given me hope that I can live a better life with less pain.
I can honestly say that I am somewhat of an expert when it comes to treating back pain. I've been to so many different "specialists" over the years, most of them not so special at all. I had just about given up when I found Jim.
Well, I could go on and on, but I'm afraid that after reading my review, Jim will have too many patients and I won't be able to get an appointment to see him.
HE'S THE BEST!!!
Physical therapy that's effective AND fun – I'm injury prone, so I've been to a ton of PTs in my life, but none beat Jim.
He's not only very professional and extremely good at what he does, he makes the process fun.
It's a small office, and Jim runs it, and everyone there feels at home.
After you've been going a while, you feel like you're part of the 'family'.
For an injury prone guy like me, this is a fantastic find.
