Decent food bad ambiance – I have no point of reference for my experience there except that it would fit nicely into a manufacturing town like Milwaukee or Detroit. I have been living in Burbank for some time now and have wanted to stop by and try it out as I heard the steaks were good. That much is true. We got there at about 7:30 on a Saturday evening and had to wait in the bar for about 20 minutes or so. The bartender was very friendly and helpful and got a chair for my mother which I appreciate. I am a wine drinker but this is a hard liquor and smoking crowd. The number of wines by the glass were (very) minimal but the pour was large so at least I got a tiny buzz off the grocery store selection. I felt safe but was a little uneasy with the clientele as they all looked like they were on the varsity drinking squad. They kept staring at me and it is not my imagination. The decor is super tacky and the bathroom was scary. Once seated at our table, the service was really good and our waiter was friendly. I had the petite fillet (very good) another had the grilled salmon (good) and mom had the surf/turf (she barely ate the surf - said the lobster was dry/tough and it was $50). Overall I would say the food was good but not worth the price and ambiance. Plus, I would never take a friend there as they would think I had lost my mind. I'm not going back.
Are you kidding me? (other reasons, same result!) – We also saw the coupons and the "voted best steakhouse" blablabla thing, we had to check it out!
We were soooo disappointed. First of all, the place really does look bad, old, and it stinks in there!
Then the food is very expensive. They serve you wine in stupid glasses, and food in metal plates.... metal plates, for steaks!! Are you kidding? Did they realize how awful it would be to cut a steak in a metal plate?! And what is it, a jail anyway? come on.... Then the food is really not good... not disgusting either, just totally not tasty!
They also throw the bill on the table half an hour before you've finished eating as if you were at Denny's.... At this price, they could at least wait until you're done eating!
Then I read below and saw that Gary is the mayor of Burbank.... I suddenly understood all the good reviews in the newspaper.
It is totally amazing that a newspaper can be that badly corrupted to vote this place the best steakhouse when Outback (or any other one) is half the price and way more than twice the taste!
Needless to say we're never going back...
Are you kidding me... – They recently ran a 10% off coupon in another publication so my boyfriend and I went in to take advantage of it...once we were in we realized the coupon had expired 4 days previous. We asked the server/hostess if they would honor it - she said she would go check and came back and said they would not...are you kidding me? Now granted the restaurant was pretty full....but you are not going to honor a coupon that expired 4 days ago...is business that good Gary? Hope so, cause I know I won't be back after that.
One of the Best Steak Houses in Los Angeles (see my review below). – I am an avid diner and love to find old fashioned "mom and pop" and or "husband and wife" family eatery's and restuarants where I reside. I have been staying at the Marriott hotel for the last month for my contractual business obligations I have down here and after work I have had enough with corporate chain restuarants who worry more about the bottom line than the quality of their food not to mention paying higher prices. Now in this case it is was a cold balmy, windy, rainy night and I did not want to travel far so the Hotel conceirege at the hotel I'm staying at (Burabnk Marriott at Bob Hope Burbank Airport) gave me a recommendation to Gary Bric's Ramp Restuarant conveiently located up the street and accesible by the Golden Satate 5 freeway which is a big freeway arteiry in Los Angeles. Since that faithful night in early December I have been there over ten times since. The steaks, seafood, appetizers are phenomenal and much less than those other pricey ala carte Steak houses sprinkled throughout the lower 48 states and especially here in this city. Stuffed mushrooms are an amazing appitizer right before a 25 oz. Porterhouse steak which is mouth-watering along with the baby back ribs. The owner and is wife which are both very gracious and are the hosts every day and night and are wonderful especially the wife by the name of Shelly who is a load of fun. I was not sure at first of the owner Gary who is a local politician/council member as I am always skeptical about leaders in our local municipalities because most of them have their own agendas and when they proclaim "they have a purpose" it's usually the purpose to fullfill their own coffers. But I have to say I was seriously wrong with my first impression about the owner (Gary) who thurns out to be one of the most delightful resturanter/business owners I have ever met and has a loyal following at the restuarant with almost every regular customer asking for Gary and Shelly. This place is the best around.
Great Restaurant in Burbank Calif. – Pleasantly surprised to find this neighborhood restaurtant, highly reccommend and only less than a mile from airport in Burbank. Great value for your dollar. Food is great, this was my 5th time and never had a bad meal yet. Tried the New York, T-Bone and my favorite is the 25 oz Porterhouse. They also have Australian Lobster tails, there to die for. Can't wait to get back to Burbank and dine here again. Owner Gary and his wife are usually there, something you don't see in restaurants today and it's not some big corporation, the guys a hands on owner. Give the place a try, you'll be back.

Damn Good Cheeseburgers – In L.A. you might find some fancy variations of burgers that aren't bad, I'll admit, but some days a girl just wants a big wad of ground beef stuck between two halves of a bun, and a slab of cheese on top. No bleu cheese. No wheat bread, avocado, or sprouts. A regular cheeseburger, with not much else on it so one can appreciate what one's getting.
The burgers at Ramps are straightforward, and I mean that nicely. The meat is always cooked just the way I ask for which is medium: pink in the center, just barely cooked through at the ends, and slightly charred on the outside. The meat is juicy and holds together, but is loose enough so that you know it hasn't been frozen in patty-form before being slapped on the grill. It costs five something, including fries, and I highly recommend the thin onion rings.
garys – Like all their food, the 6oz petite filet mignon is what I go for. A fresh tossed salad or generous soup to start, steak, choice of potato, veg, and a bottle of wine. Great food & price at around $50 for 2 people. 2 small dining rooms but you can also eat in the generous size bar.
