Everything was absolutely amazing from the impeccable table service, to the mouthwatering steak and divine bread pudding. They do the filets just right. Medium rare is medium rare here. Perfect. Always great service and very good food..
Wow from the moment you walk in you feel like family! This place is the epitome of southern hospitality. Every part of this experience was wonderful (excellent wait staff). The best crab cakes I have ever had and superb food all around. Overall, Hollister Grill gets 2 thumbs up. I can’t wait to go back.
Treated like a queen – I went in on my birthay on Friday night and it was the best experience ever. We didn't even need menus because we all ordered the special or variations of it.
I had crab cakes, fried mushroom and a salmon that was to die for. I like the service because it was like eating around friends you knew and ones you just met. Chris was our waiter and I hope to get him again because he made my 30th birthday really one to remember.
If you can definetly ask for Chris :)
Poor Service ran out of food after 45 min wait for appetizer – 1st visit was nice, food good, owner friendly and provided personalized service so we tried it again. 2nd vist was a Saturday night, restaurant almost full, owner not there but his son seated us (table of 3), took our order and then kept telling us it will be awhile since they were busy. We were patient for 45 minutes waiting on appetizer course until we notice two tables getting served who came in after us. We inquired and the son told us he forgot to give our order to the kitchen and then told us they were out of food. He could not put an order in for us for any other dishes either, simply said sorry we are out of food and allowed us to leave with no other considerations. We'll have to blame the owner for putting an incapable son to take charge of his restaurant. Will not return.
This was last year, are they still open???
Great Find Outside the Loop – We just went to the Hollister Grill based on the recommendation of our optometrist (thanks Dr. Larry) and after reading the many great reviews.
We were there on a pre-holiday evening and there were just a few tables. No specals due to the expected light pre-holiday load and all the reviews RAVED about the inventive specials. Oh well, I guess that means we have to go back.
We started out with the campachana that was loaded with shrimp, avocado, cilantro....mmm. This was a little different that what we've had at Goode Company and elsewhere, maybe more like a premixed shrimp cocktail with an extra ZIP. One was easily shared by a party of three.
We then had the filet mignon (one of the tenderest I've ever had and grilled to perfection), the red fish (good buy maybe the sauce was a little too "tomatoy" especially after the appetizer), gaspacho and a wonderful salad.
All in all a superbl meal at a very unassuming location. They mentioned a previous weekend where the "ran out of everything" and I read a review that was probably from that evening. I can see the place being overwhelmed on a weekend night crush but it is DEFINITELY worth a try.
After reading the reviews and looking over the lunch menu(much more casual) I have to find some way to sneak out there midday sometime.
We WILL return.
A Great Place for Lunch... A Better Place For Dinner!!! – Hollister grill has a great lunch menu offering great food at an even better price. Everyday Hollister Grill has a fresh & delightful lunch special. Everything from Hollister Grill is made with market fresh vegetables & butcher fresh meats. I can honestly say that this restaurant has NEVER let me down; their food is always perfectly prepared and beautifully served.
Hollister Grill serves dinner Wednesday – Saturday. The ambiance of Hollister Grill changes at dinner. The fine linens come out, the lights dim, and the menu changes. I’ve eaten dinner here about ten times. I always get the off menu daily special. I’ve had, Sword Fish, Red Fish, Oysters, Prime Rib, Filet, Pasta, etc. I find myself ordering the special just to see what their executive chef can come up with. It's always been very good. Be mindful that Hollister Grill is currently BYOB.
Hollister Grill also serves a Sunday brunch. However, I’ve never had their brunch; I have heard great things about it.
The wait staff at Hollister Grill is stellar. They wait on you with delight of their faces. They are very attentive, and respectful. If you get a table and Sondra is your waitress, you’re going to have a pleasant experience.
I eat at Hollister Grill 4-5 times a week. Their food doesn’t make you feel heavy, or stuffed. Come in for a quick delicious lunch, or come for dinner and experience real American Cuisine. I’ll probably be the one sitting in the corner booth. ;-)
Best Burger in Town – This was the best burger that I have had in a long time. It is well worth the trip down I-10. The french fries were great as well. If I could give the food more stars I would
Wonderful food and Service – My daughter, myslef and a friend dined last night at the Hollister Grill and were treated like family as soon as we walked in the door. Friendly service (Chris) and delicious food at this tucked away place made for an overall excllent evening. Definitety try the truffle mac & cheese side, it is worth it! We dined on pork, beef filet, and fish and all were cooked perfectly. We will definitely be returning, so watch out, Chris!
WOW! Amazing Food / BYOB / Amazing Service – A friend of mine and, her daughter went to this small little gem for dinner last night and, were completely blown away by the food and the service. The menu is priced amazingly for the quality and amount of food served. The service was outstanding and, we were treated like family from the moment we walked in...the hostess, the owner, our server (the owners son...Chris) and, the chef all came to talk to us and, made sure we were taken care of !! The chef is constantly creating new specials every day and, we started with an off the menu special of Tuna Rolls, Tempura Vegis & Shrimp (melt in your mouth), Scallops and, Fried Pork Spring Roll (to die for). We each then ordered a different main entree (2 off the menu & 1 of the Fish Specials) and, could not stop eating!! We had the Crusted Pork Medallions w/Fettuccinni Alfredo (Excellent), Beef Filet (HUGH & cooked perfect) w/Mashed Potatoes (to die for) & Grilled Asparagus and, the Red Snapper Vermillion w/Jalapeno Cheese Grits (AMAZING) and, then a side of the Truffle Mac n Cheese (OMG...worth ordering the extra side...WOW). All I can say is it is absolutely worth a trip to this little gem hidden away in Spring Branch! This place is a keeper!!!
Great restaurant, small quaint envoirnment – My son and I go regularly and we love the food! Lunch is great. especially their burgers. Dinner is more fine dining and they have great filets!
