This standalone taqueria is famous for its fresh masa cakes and hearty soups. – In Short
The tiled floors, metal-back chairs and TVs airing soccer matches and telanovelas (Mexican soap operas) make this authentic Mexican taqueria in South Minneapolis feel, at first blush, like a Mexican fast-food joint. But the dishes on offer are anything but typical. In fact, it's easy to go right up to the counter and get overwhelmed by the 40 or so made-to-order choices: There are gorditas, tamales, huaraches, enchiladas, sopes, quesadillas and more. Platters come with black or refried beans and rice, and the huge helpings of soups, such as the pozole, come with all of the fixins ,like chiles, limes, onions, and hot sauce, for your spicing pleasure.
