Excellent new & clean vehicles; Pleasant and fast service. – Wow I cannot believe the negative reviews on this page. This place is great...much cheaper than the airport, convenient to Harvard Square, BU, and BC! The vans are in excellent condition as are the sedans and SUVs.
I'm convinced that these reviews were posted by USave's competitors.
Read the complaints they are a riot. It's always the folks who return the vehicle late, return it with damage, run through Mass Pike express lanes, break the contract, and allow their own political views to interfere with a solution, who complain the loudest.
I rent from the "old guy" all the time for tours and for high end corporate events. He's completely dedicated to his customers.
Terrible customer service!!!!...$$$$$ – Rented a passenger van for a few days, returned van 3 hours late, battery was dead had to wait for AAA, The rental office U-SAVE also known as "Adventure Rentals" charged us a full day (24hr) rental fee and would not reason with us. It was on a Sunday and 2 other vans were in the lot just sitting there. Go with a regular rental company, the will reason with you. Poor customer service on the managers part.
Complaint – They called 2 days after we returned our rented vehicle, which they 100% accepted upon return, to say we had an accident, which we never had, and that we were liable and they were filing a claim, and they charged an enormous amount of money to our credit card. I filed a claim with the Boston BBB.
Usave?Usuck – I flew into Boston airport on Christmas Eve 2008, since rental prices at Logan were $89 per day, I decided to rent a car in Alston, for $30 per day and take a cab from the airport to U save. I had reserved an economy or similar about two weeks in advance. When I got to U save they did not have an economy car left, all they had was a 15 passenger van! I was only one person, and an environmentalist at that. There was a Toyota Highlander also in the lot, but they said that was for a part of six flying in from Ireland to ski. I bet the six from Ireland would have loved the van. I understand that mistakes happen, and with a small apology, I would not even be writing this review. The manager (old guy) was so rude, I couldn?t believe it. I mentioned that I was driving down to RI and then up to Maine and I couldn?t afford the gas in such an impractical vehicle for one person to travel in. He said I ordered an economy or comparable, and as far as he was concerned it was comparable. He said I could either take the van or he would call me a cab. As I was getting use to this large van and the Boston drivers, I accidentally went through the EX Pass lane; there was no way to go back. I just got a letter from U Save and they charged me an extra $50 processing fee, on top of the $50 fine attached. Three days and $100 in gas later, I was able to swap the van for a Corolla in R.I which took about two hours out of my day. When I got to the RI location, they accused me of stealing the 4th row seat! When I had to return to the scary location in Allston to return the Corolla, the same rude manager was there. I asked him to call me a cab. He said it will cost $40 to take a cab, and for $40 he would have ?his guy?give me a lift. I told him, I would rather support a taxi driver than give him another cent. The cab only cost $25 including tip!
Awful customer service, reservation not held – Stay away from Usave and save yourself a nightmare. After calling ( a week ahead of time) and reserving a 15 passenger van for a weekend trip, I had this experience...
15 minutes prior to getting the van, i was called by USave and informed they had no vans for me. When asked why, they simply replied, 'none came back'. Then I was told that my Visa debit/credit card was no good as they didn't accept them for reservations. (I have rented with this card before at other locations and never had issues).
When informed of no van, I told them I had 14 people waiting for me at a train stop and we needed a fast solution. I was told to 'hang on' and that I'd get a call back in 15 minutes. Well after 45 minutes and no call I went there with a friend to demand answers. I was told, basically, that I was SOL and i could rent three cars. Stating this wasnt an option, they simply told us to wait. Now 2 hours past our departure time, they started offering us cars and an SUV (a Rav 4), all of which would cost us more in gas and for insurance charges. When asked for a discount they scoffed at the idea.
In the end we rented a small Rav 4 and used a friends chevy suburban. upon return they claimed a 'fresh scratch' was on the Rav 4 and charged us another 125 dollars.
These people are rude, incompetant and will look to screw you over in the end. Yes, they have cheaper prices, but it means nothing if you can't actually use what you reserve. DO NOT USE USAVE. You'll regret it in the end.
Following my experience, i mentioned to coworkers what i had dealt with and they all had/heard of similar instances with these jokers. I'm not vindictive, just eager to warn other consumers.
Charged me $1,300+ for damage that occurred on their own insecure lot--no proof, no answers. Stay away. – U-Save charged me more than $1,300 for damage that apparently occurred after hours on their own insecure lot. (A local auto body shop quoted me ~$300 for the damage--U-Save took the car to a shop 25 miles away to get their $1k+ invoice). I dropped the car off in perfect condition at about 11pm, then got a call 36 hours later asking me to file a damage report. They had no proof that the damage occurred when they said it did, and even if it did occur when they claim it did, why did they wait so long to notify me? Two months of persistent questioning got me nowhere; U-Save charged the full sum to my credit card. You might save $15 or $20 a day on your rental, but you might also get charged an exorbitant amount. Stay away.
By the way, Citysearch...if there are 3 reviews for U-Save and all of them are 1-star each and extremely negative, why do you show U-Save as a 4-star business?
