The East Village good-beer institution expands across the East River, bringing the same intense focus on microbrews and brown spirits to Williamsburg. – Brooklyn's burgeoning beer scene got a touch tastier with the arrival of this microbrew Mecca. Following the lead of the original d.b.a. in downtown Manhattan, the long, soaring space outfitted with a custom-made bamboo bar serves 16 superlative beers (including offerings from Stoudt's, Sixpoint and local-brewed Brooklyn), three hand-pulled cask ales and a boatload of Scotch, whiskey and Bourbon. If all the barstools are snagged, an array of candle-lit tables provide perches for lengthy drinking sessions, while the backyard is perfect for puffing a cigarette or soaking up sunshine when weather permits.
Hits: You can spend hours glugging great brews in a spacious room that's not as packed as its sibling. Plus, tasty nibbles are nice too.
Misses: While the beer and spirits are warming, the soaring space may feel a bit too cool, clinical and calculated, with the chalkboard menu mimicking the one at the East Village locale.
