overpriced & amateurish – the price tag listed on citysearch ($$) is totally misleading. the food is expensive and the portions are small. the atmosphere isn't that great. yes, it's in montrose, but it's fairly empty, even on the weekend. the service is atrocious. the waitstaff isn't very responsive, and the bartenders are straight up, unapologetic jerks. everytime i've gotten a drink at the bar, i've had to wait at least 10 minutes. once, i had to wait almost 30 minutes for the bartender to get my check — and it wasn't even crowded! the mixed drinks are weak and the wine portions are small. i tried to give this place a few chances, but it stinks, straight up. needless to say, i won't be going back.

something new to houston culture – This place was a little hard to find at first unless you are familiar with the blue fish which shares the same parking lot. I was invited to eat there by a friend of mine. The inside of the place is pretty elegant and at first i felt under dressed, but looking around everyone else was dressed pretty casual.

They had an open mic event going on at the time which was cool. My buddy said that they had just opened, but it looked like they already had some regulars. We were there to grab a few beers so we only shared their boudin ball s but they were very tasty. And as for the beers, they have a late night happy hour and my favorite, Stone IPA, which probably explains why I spent so much.

It was a weeknight and they had just opened so i could understand why they weren't too "poppin" at the time. Even so, everyone at the bar was really cool and i hope they do well.

Montrose bistro brought to us by the same folks behind House of Te offers a menu full of international flavors that can temporarily transport you anywhere in the world. – In Short
Located in a quaint, rustic converted two-story house in the Austin-esque dining complex off Richmond Ave shared by Blue Fish House and Hobbit Café, this charming eatery is sophisticated and warm. A sea of dark hardwood runs throughout the split-level house, which has various dining alcoves and a gorgeous bar accessible from two sides of the restaurant. Expect a lit fireplace on quiet, chilly nights. If the mood for Asian strikes, start off with pot stickers or chicken satay. Then splurge with rich, peppery steak au poivre or lamb chops. Vegetarians can enjoy the Incan quinoa salad or Southwestern Turlu Turlu of veggies and chickpeas braised in olive oil, tomato sauce and Turkish spices over couscous. Complete the meal with a finale of rich, chocolatey Mexican spice cake with chantilly cream.
