I can't imagine a more descript name for this Ravenna room. Visit during happy hour and you can enjoy a couple of glasses of champagne and a dozen oysters for $30.


One of the most overlooked restaurants in Seattle. More than just great oysters and bubbles, Frank's is a neighborhood bistro that caters to families, date night nights and really, anyone who likes good food in a cool, intimate setting. Just down the hill from Pair (same owners).

I love this cozy little bar in the wasteland that seems to be the Ravenna hood. Stop in for a cocktail, a snack and a seat on the funny horsehide chairs.

Romantic Champagne Parlor Off the Beaten Path – Romantic and glamorous in a subtle way, Frank's Oyster House and Champagne Parlor offers a delightful departure from the typical Belltown/Downtown nightlife spots. You can't help but feel sophisticated as you dine on delicious oysters, delicately spiced nuts and the perfectly dry bubbly. The service is great- they are happy to help oyster novices differentiate between the varieties. The location is a little off the beaten path, but sometimes, it feels so refreshing to go somewhere completely different. Definitely recommended if you want to impress a date. A romantic, unique choice!

Citysearch Editorial Review – This restaurant, from the same people who brought Seattle the neighboring restaurant Pair, combines prohibition-era-feel with updated classics on the menu. Sitting back in the room, the walls lined with raw wood, you feel the casual elegance that the owners clearly worked hard to create. The wine selection is broader than you’d expect from a place calling itself a “Champagne parlor” and leans heavily on the Northwest. After enjoying a creatively named cocktail (Scofflaw, anyone?), be sure to delve deep into the food. The namesake oysters are beautifully presented in a long row, in rectangles with ice cups. Mix and match between the oyster options and the mignonette options to go along. As you browse, from the snack options right up to the entrees, be sure not to miss out on the sides, as the Parker house rolls and various vegetable preparations are perfect examples of how simple food done right can make for a fabulous restaurant.

No need to be an oyster fan to enjoy Frank’s Oyster House. – It is so much more than oysters. My husband and I tried Frank’s out recently and lovvvved it. If you like Pair (same owners), you’ll love their newest edition to Seattle’s culinary delights.

Decor: Rustic wood walls, stiff chairs, and funky light fixtures? Yes, please! This place reeks of cool.

Food: Oysters are not my gig, but the menu provided plenty of options. I went with the steak with horseradish parsley butter. Melt-in-your-mouth delishousness, actually. We also tucked into the truffle skins (potatoes covered in fontina and truffle oil), the perfect way to get your heart and your weekend moving.

Drinks: They have happy hour until 6:30 p.m.! Which is perfect, cause they are a little out of the way. Great wine list and their featured cocktail was fantastic.

Service: The rakishly-clad staff was on top of it: attentive, but not creepin’. And most of them had beards. . . which seemed appropriate.

Scenario: First dates, we’ve been dating forever but still like each other, distinguished older folks, and neighborhood regulars.

I can’t wait to go back and try their champagne!

Great Parlor – My wife and I were seeking a place to relax over drinks and enjoy a great conversation. We had just eaten at La Isla in Ballard the night before and had to read lips because it was so loud there. FRANK's was a great change of pace. We did not have reservations so we ate at the bar. We have often found that the experience at the bar in many restaurants is superior to the dinning room and again fate paid off. The lady behind the bar was efficient, polite and welcoming. Sitting in new 60's retro chairs at a varnished plywood bar sounds odd, but it really seemed to work. My wife and I ordered drinks and began with a dozen oysters on the half-shell. They were fresh, with a briny goodness and the wonderful smell of a morning at the beach. The cheddar biscuits arrived and the comfort food began. The ham was lightly salty and the sharp cheddar was nicely balance with the creaminess of the biscuit. Next arrived my burger, cooked medium with some of the best fries I have had in the city. The fries were wonderfully crisp. Quinn's is well known for their fries, but I think these actually surpassed the fondue and demi glace covered goodness at Quinn's. They don't need a sauce, but the tartar is wonderful. As for the burger, it was juicy and well balanced with the tartness of the pickled onions and the spicyness of their sauce working well together. My wife ordered the crab wraps. She always loves crab and here she was pleasantly surprised. She enjoyed building the wraps and the crab was fresh and sweet. Sadly we did not order any veggie sides, but we will be back, soon and often. My only complaint would be that we were actually asked by the staff to move over a seat while we were eating. I know the staff was trying to accomadate another couple, but we were eating and the couple was less than thankful. In fact, we began to move and the couple decided that the OPEN couch behind us would work them..... With that aside, we had a wonderful time and the staff and food were delightful.

Great food and ambience, service needs tuning – We've eaten at Frank's twice... both times the food was amazing but the service needed tuning. Because they've only been open a few weeks we're more understanding, but if the service issues aren't worked out quickly it will hurt the business.

The food highlights: Goat cheese deviled eggs; Steak Tartare (generous portion, beautifully prepared); Seared duck breast with "cracklins" that are even better than bacon; and a modifed version of a banana split with 3 types of homemade ice cream and a carmelized banana. Everything was simply superb. Oh, can't forget the oysters on the halfshell... nice variety, super fresh.

The service: Both times our server forgot our salad, so it came after the meal. On our second visit, it took over 20 minutes for our drinks to be delivered (and they weren't what we ordered), our server forgot our appetizers (then only brought 1 when we reminded her), our side dish was forgotten and brought after we'd all finished our entrees, and we went without water for long stretches. The waitstaff is very pleasant and trying hard... but clearly there are some issues that need to be worked out.

The ambience: Wow, a terrific blend of log cabin meets modern chic.... very warm and inviting, unlike any other place in Seattle!

We'll definitely return, but will wait a couple of months to see if the service issues can be addressed.

Second attempt as good as the first! – I was a big fan of Pair and Franks was no disappoinment! Being new to the scene you already have to wait for a table. Thank god for the beautiful lounge which is set yourself, found a table in little time and loved hanging out in that room! Great selection of cocktails and champagne and happy hour everyday including Friday and Saturdays!!! YAY Franks!!
