2 hour delivery wait and then....nothing. Honestly, I have no idea what their food is like because they never gave me a chance to try it. In a post-flu-induced stupor I was still not feeling up to par to cook, having just moved to the neighborhood I chose Smile Thai for delivery at random. Fresh Rolls, Pad Woon Sen, clearly the WHAT does not matter since I never got it. OK, I'll pull it together. I ordered at 6:30, they said 45 min. at 8:05 I called, they said, "he left 15 minutes ago, you wait" . I did. At 8:31 they called and said, "We so busy, you still want food?" SERIOUSLY. That happened.
Good food, very good prices, great service. Just tried Smile out for the first time. The food was good; nothing to write home about, but perfectly reasonable for a nice lunch with a friend. What made me log in to review it though was the phenomenal service we got. Wow! Super-fast seating, rapid food preparation, and an attentive wait-staff even though the restaurant was mostly full. A rarity in Harvard Square at lunch time. I'll definitely return. You'd think with that, that they'd pressure you out for turn-over, but they let us sit and chat long after they dropped off the bill.
Harvard Square Thai cafe churns out large portions of fresh, affordable fare in basic surroundings..
In Short
Located on the second floor of a building that houses several eateries, Smile Thai Cafe provides Harvard students and area workers with yet another cheap ethnic haunt. The lengthy menu contains an exhaustive assortment of options, from classic noodle dishes to deep-fried whole fish platters. Indecisive diners opt for the create-your-own option, choosing from a list of sauces and meats/fish. Few items top $10, much to the pleasure of budget-minded patrons who dine family-style.
