Very impressed! – I enjoyed every step of the way. When I came in, the people were smiling and friendly and it just lift my spirit immediately. I have to admit I was a bit reluctant about the whole laser thing, but the staff made me feel very comfortable. I also felt really welcome! Others can learn from the customer service there. Will surely go back there!
I'm going back to Gentle Touch! – This was my first experience with Gentle Touch and with laser treatments and I am completely satisfied. I had Daniela who was hilarious. She made me laugh and feel comfortable. It is more painful than electrolysis but so far I think it's more effective. The office is clean and organized. I was a few minutes late and they still accepted my appointment which was great. It's faster than I thought it would be, much faster than electrolysis. I would recommend it anyone who wants to try laser removal.
Loved my experience! – I have been wanting to do laser removal for years now and i finally got the guts to do it! I was SO scared and when i arrived at gentle spa i was greeted with laughs and welcomes!
Daniella treated me and I couldn't have asked for a better person or treatment. She was funny, caring, and patient. She made me laugh through the whole process. The place was small but very clean. I can't wait to go back and continue the journey to being hair free!!!!!!!
Recommended!! – As a woman who has struggled with PCOS and all its nasty effects throughout my entire adult life, I have become quite a laser expert. I've been to various places around the city (believe it or not I used all the money my grandmother left me when she died towards some high cost laser), and I have to say that Gentle Touch is a great deal for the money (I snatched up a Groupon for it). I want to be as unbiased and helpful as possible, so I'm going to talk about the positives and negatives...
The positives: the laser works. I am one of those "pale skin dark hair" people though, so keep that in mind. I paid for a "full face" package, which covers upper lip, cheeks, chin, and the neck. Having all sorts of dark hair on your face, is, as a woman, completely terrible. The psychological toll, the stress, the wondering if people will notice - I can go on and on. The laser works, people! My hair = gone, after one treatment. I know as someone who has a hormonal issue (the PCOS) and the fact that hair grows in cycles, I will need to keep going back every six weeks. It's 100% worth it, especially with this amazing Groupon deal. If I am able to pick this deal up again, I most definitely will.
My "full face" treatment took maybe 10 minutes to do
The negatives: this may not be a negative so much as an urging for people to understand how laser works before you go to your first session. The laser WILL burn your skin. If you have a lot of hair, it's going to burn. The burning is not a question, it's more a matter of how much it will burn. Immediately after you are treated, they apply the cooling gel to the area. Then the next few days the area will be red, splotchy, and tender. This has happened to me every time I've had laser. I've had laser treatments on different areas, with different lasers, at different facilities, and the skin always burns to some degree. But it does heal. It may take a few days or up to a week, but it should heal. If you can, try to schedule your appointment on a Friday so you have the weekend to recover in seclusion if you need to.
Immediately after the laser is the worst, since it zaps the hairs and brings all the hairs that were under the top layer of skin (almost) to the top, so they are quite noticeable. After a week or so, they shed completely and are gone. My face, which only a few weeks ago I couldn't even look at out of embarrassment, has looked better than it has in YEARS. I look like a normal girl!
Another more relevant negative to this location is the service - I understand with the Groupon they are VERY busy. After I booked the Groupon, I had called and emailed and hadn't heard back for several weeks, so finally I just showed up in person to make my appointment. Not only did I make an appointment, but since someone was a no show for their appointment, I got my first treatment done right then and there. And once I was there, everyone was very nice and helpful.
Yes, it's a tiny room with a laser and there does appear to be a hair salon in the back. Honestly, I don't even care, because with how expensive laser is normally, this is a steal. I recommend this place to anyone with realistic expectations of cost compared to service/location, because the bottom line is the laser WORKS.
Gentle Touch is a terrible place – I am giving one star because I cannot give ZERO STARS. This dirty "laser center" left me with serious burns.
I purchased a deal on Groupon a year ago, and now I see they are running yet another deal. I can't bear to think that this place might leave many more people with terrible burns.
To add insult to injury, their customer service is beyond horribly bad. The entire place is a 9 foot room with paper-thin "door" in a hair salon. It was clear that they don't change the protective paper where you lay down for treatment. I don't know why I went through with my first treatment.
The only good thing was that Groupon refunded me after I complained to them. I was never even able to speak to a manager at this place. Please do yourself a favor and stay away.
Gentle Touch Laser Centers would like to apologize to our current and potential clients to this exposure of slander towards our business. Please recognize that not only do we have excellent reviews but we also have repeat deal sites asking us to work closely with them due to the outstanding number of requests for our laser services.
Nina L., We are well aware of who you are and would appreciate if you would refrain from lashing out at our place of business and our employees. We will be contacting you shortly to explain the importance of your refrain from slander and the use of inflammatory remarks.
Laser Hair Removal at it's Finest..!!...!! – Came to Gentle Touch about 8 months ago from reading these same reviews on Citysearch. They were not the first center I considered but they were the finest. Normally I just research and go and never write reviews but they deserve it, especially the technicians that did my laser. I went with the $495 full body deal they have and I couldn't be happier. Being that I am not made of money this was a big investment and I was super nervous going into this new adventure. It had it's ups and a small down (slightly painful) but in the long run I am super happy not having to shave or even deal with the bumps I hated. To the details: 1) they are small but this is a plus, lots of attention 2) big investment but well worth it 3) technicians are more than educated and trained properly because my results prove it 4) owner is always around and knows how to talk your ear off about laser, all factual no BS from what I found 5) a little painful but it works, what else can you want 6) not sure what else to write but laser is well worth it, it works if done right and I highly advise people to consider this center if you're serious about being hair free. Book early because they can be busy late night. Good Luck!
Very Pleased with my results and service from Gentle Touch – Last Friday I received my fourth treatment from Gina at Gentle Touch for my full body and I couldn't be happier with my results. Last October I started laser hair removal with Gina due to a Groupon I received as a gift, normally I wouldn't even consider laser for the pricing I see everywhere. I started with a small area and immediately after a few sessions the hair was not coming back. This convinced me that laser worked and I opted to sign up for their Unlimited program, well because I could afford it this way.
If it wasn't for Groupon or their affordable program I wouldn't even know laser works. Their staff is very professional, I can always make an appointment (well one time I did have to wait a few days), clean office and the owner is also very friendly and informative. One complaint I did have was their old receptionist was moody at times but it seems she is not there anymore, that's a plus.
I plan to finish my treatments with them and hopefully I won't be back for laser hair removal.
Shady, Rude, Unprofessional – Completely unprofessional. Rude. There is one technician who is amazing--Daniella. Everyone else is shady. Gina tricked me into paying the tax when none of the other technicians even mentioned it. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Couldn't get a manager on the phone for TWO MONTHS. In addition, they forced me to wait at least 15 minutes every time, but when I called once to tell them I'd be ten minutes late for my bikini laser session, they told me I couldn't come in. The session takes about five minutes, and there is so much prep involved the night before. Absolutely not worth the money. There are a ton of other laser centers. Do not go here.
Best Laser Hair Removal in NYC!!! – I had laser in the past without much success. I have seen many ads with crazy pricing but wanted to try a center that has a great reputation. That is why I chose Gentle Touch. From the moment I walked in, the customer service I received was great and knew why they were so highly rated. Gina was wonderful at explaining everything and making feel very comfortable about the procedures. I went for my underarms but ended up treating my bikini as sell. They are using incredible lasers that are very fast without much pain. I recommend Gentle Touch to all of my friends because they are the best!
Men do laser too! – So yes men do laser as much as women, one thing I thought was a service provided to females only. I am a male in my mid twenties and have done a few marathon's in my life and I like to stay fit. Hair on my back was nothing that didn't show off my up keep of my body and I hated being shirtless but then again I love the beach! A friend of mine's girlfriend referred me to Gentle Touch and her person doing the treatments, Gina. Initially I was just set on coming in for laser hair removal consultation for my back and didn't plan to buy. My consultation took about 20 minutes and I was hooked. I ended up starting on their monthly billed program, which was good because now I've done a few other areas. Very very pleased with my results.
Staff is very friendly as you come in, sometimes there is a wait but the service delivered by Gina and the other girl, I believe Danielle, was by far outstanding. My results, well it's only been three times, are really starting to show but I do have a few more left.
If I could send a message out there to the males seeking laser, I would tell you to just go ahead and remove all the unwanted hair we have. It's safe, effective and it's working!
