Great food! – The food was amazing! My husband had the Kaluah Pork, it was the most tender, melt in your mouth amazing pork I've ever tasted. I had the coconut shrimp, perfect crunch on the outside and tender and sweet on the inside. I wish they'd give up the teriyaki sauce recipe though! We even bought a container of it to bring home! Definitely worth going to when you're looking for a great night out and money isn't an issue. Entrees seemed to be priced from 17$-25$+, Appetizers from 9$-20$+ (Lobster potstickers, frigging AMAZING!). We brought our 7yr old with us, not knowing what type of restaurant it was, I wouldn't recommend bringing the kids, though they do have a kids menu.

Bait & Switch & Out $5 for Valet & DIDN'T EVEN EAT – Driving up 192nd in East Vancouver on a Friday night, I was pleased to see that Tommy O's had signs on the road displaying "Free Valet Parking" & "Immediate Seating Available". I pulled the SUV into the parking area where the valet immediately greeted me, handed me my ticket, and carefully parked my SUV... I entered the restaurant letting the hostess know I was a party of 2 and she informed me it would be a few minutes until we would be seated.... There were 2 couples waiting ahead of me and one of them was seated while me and the other couple waited... A party who had been waiting outside entered the restaurant and was immediately seated... After about 10 minutes of waiting, another party entered (who I had just observe use the valet) and was immediately seated. I asked the hostess if we could sit in an area which did not have any customers and she related that was for the customers "who had a reservation" I then asked about the immediate seating sign outside and the hostess had no idea what I was talking about. I asked to speak to a manager. After a minute or so, a manager appeared (who I believed was the owners son) and I informed him I was going on 10-15 minutes+ waiting to be seated and his immediate seating sign didn't make a whole lot of sense... He shrugged his shoulders and said no tables were available... my wife pointed to the vacant area in the restaurant (where the other party had been seated) to which he responded that was for diners who had made reservations. My party and the other couple who had been waiting then left Tommy O’s... We met the valet, got our SUV and drove across the parking lot to "ROOTS" and was "Immediately Seated". We got a beer and then observed the other couple who had been waiting with us come into Roots as well.... We then had a great meal at Roots!

Great place to eat and entertain – I absolutely love Tommy O's I have been a long time customer of their downtown shop and have been exited to have them open a new place in East Vancouver. Their food is wonderful, the New York steak is awesome as is their calamari. I love their late night happy hour and the beer selection is hard to beat. I recommend you don't listen to the haters who only order fish and chips and go try it for yourself

Ohhhh - what happened?? – We used to recommend Tommy O's to everyone, now we never do. They are so inconsistent. The fresh to die for Fish and Chips are now - greasy and soggy. It used to taste fresh and delicious. It is now reminiscent of a pit stop on the Sysco frozen food train and not even great. The portions are tiny and putting them on smaller plates really doesn't fool anyone.

What happened?!?!?

I gave you three stars - only for what you used to be.

Pupus and Drinks were Great! Entrees and service... – We've been here a few times, once for happy hour which was pretty good. Their pupus are great, especially the lobster potstickers. We've tried alot of their specialty cocktails and they're all great. It's also nice that they offer brown rice. Our last visit for dinner was ruined by our server. He took forever to come over and take our order. Then he acted extremely annoyed when one of our party who has a terminal illness asked about alternative options for her entree. He brought our orders out with white rice when we all ordered brown rice and then took almost 10 min to bring out the brown rice while our entrees got cold! Refilled water for only half the table and walked around with an attitude. It's frustrating to have such a terrible server at a decent restaurant spoil your meal when there are incredible servers out there at restaurants like Red Robin who would deserve his job!
