Suddenly closed for renovations - awful customer service – I booked a party here two months ago for my birthday and thought I had found the perfect venue for karaoke. I confirmed a week and a half ago with Morgan and received a second confirmation. However, this past Friday, I received a strange voicemail from Pulse saying that my party has been cancelled because the venue is now closed for renovations! No one ever mentioned that renovations were going on. I've been trying to get in touch with someone there for days, and the phone keeps going to voicemail. They will not pick up the phone, or return messages I am very worried, and I have 25 people coming to a party and NO VENUE! I highly recommend that you steer clear of this place - this is awful customer service, and very shady.
Pulse Karaoke Sued For Using Stolen Music? – Pulse Karaoke has been named in a lawsuit alleging that the karaoke music they use may be pirated, or in other words stolen.

Great place! – I got a deal at Pulse to celebrate my friend's birthday. Everything went perfect and the service was beyond our expectations. Right from the moment I was making the reservation, Pulse seemed to genuinely care about our visit and asked us detailed questions of our requests to make sure they had everything we needed prior to our visitation. They do have a dress code but I don't really think it's a big deal because it seems like it's for our own good. In NYC there are a lot of sketchy people out there and Pulse tries to filter out those people for safety issues. They have unlimited alcohol service for the hours you are staying and Rockband for those who aren't ready yet to sing in front of people.
THE WORST, HORRIBLE & UNPROFESSIONAL. DISAPPOINTING!!!
The worst place ever! – The service is rude! They refuse to play hip hop even though its in their books and do not tell you but take your money. The drinks are water down, oh and did I say the service was RUDE! Hip Hop Fans please do not Patronize this establishment!
Great place for girl's night out – Had a great night with my friends last week. Definitely enjoyed the whole upscale atmosphere without paying the price. They offer great packages which is a great deal if you are planning to drink more than once as just by paying 30 dollars each you would have your own private room and unlimited drinks for two hours. I like that Pulse has a dresscode and bouncers. It makes the experience so much more fun as it gives my friends and I an excuse to dress up! The service is great and the people there are really nice and accommodating.
Exciting Place for your party! – There is one word for me to describe this karaoke place; awesome!! I'll give you three reasons;
First off, this place has a perfect location! This is in Times Square neighborhood so you won't get lost.
Second, all the staff are really nice to you. They'll give you the best party night, which you can never forget!
Third, The place and all karaoke stuff are really neat! you don't want to miss out this well-cleaned suits and lounge!
Karaoke – I had my 31st birthday at Pulse last week. The place is great...called in advance to reserve a room. The event planner was really nice in making sure I was properly accommodated. I came in two weeks prior to see the space and the room I was getting. I had to narrow down my guest list since the largest room seated 15 people but it ended up working perfect since some of my friends were out of town. Our waitress was really nice and made sure to come in our room to check on us often. Overall my friends and I had an amazing time!
Summer Friday – I'm in charge of all the event planning in my company so my boss wanted me to find a place to take everyone in our company out of drinks. I decided to give Pulse a shot since we were around the corner. The place is soo nice! We didn't get a room since it was 35 of us. We ended up staying in the lounge which was perfect anyways. It was really crazy bc at some point we were playing Guitar Hero!! The pricing was really good since we didn't end up spending a fortune. Will definitely be back...
Not perfect. – I went there on a Friday Night with a group of friends and decided to get a room for us since I wasn't sure what kind of crowd there would be. The room was only $5/person/hour so it was a steal. Drinks were also half off from 6-8. The rooms were pretty cool, with some crazy lighting, etc. They also had a pretty awesome video selection; you could even switch video channels and have p*rn playing in the background of your song. We had a good time.
BUT, this place has some ridiculous flaws. First, they have a dress code of upscale-trendy. This was what alerted me to get a room in the first place. I was kind of right, too. Upscale trendy in midtown basically means the public space is full of tools singing Baby Got Back and things like Tenacious D. Not to mention, they're probably tools who look like girls I would not like. (I confirmed this, btw.)
Pulse is also kind of hard to find. It's an unmarked building. The 6-8 drink special stinks too because I ended up not even getting IN until 6:25. But, it was fun that they were even half off. The staff was nice enough, and everyone was pretty accommodating, We had a nice time in all.
The music selection was bad-- very few English songs and there was no sorting by "Artist" in the private rooms.
But, like I said, watching the fun videos (it's only P*rn with girls, I asked for some boys and was shut down) and the pretty crazy lights was fun.
At the end, there was some issue with settling the check but we worked it out. It just wasn't the best ending.
The place closes at 10 on Friday but they're pretty open about it so I wasn't surprised like some other Yelpers.
Good place, but in a weird location and needs more songs. I bet Rockband is cool though (if I liked Rockband).
