Dear Austin: Please start eating at Karibu. Please experience the joy that is sour injera bread, dipped and wrapped around saucy chickpeas and stewed, delicious meats. Please talk to their incredibly kind waitstaff. Please fill their long dining corridor with laughter and merriment. Most of all, please allay my fears that this restaurant will close someday simply because it is under-marketed (ok, not marketed at all), for it's simply too wonderful, tasty, and inviting to say goodbye to. Love, A Loyal Karibu Customer
Family-owned Ethiopian restaurant on the Eastside is ideal for big groups with a yen for exotic cuisine. – Hand-woven baskets, imported tribal accents and arched doorways lend to the exotic flair of this large and warmly decorated restaurant. Best for group dining, Ethiopian food is traditionally eaten with the hands (the servers will bring warm water for hand washing before the food arrives), using a spongy and slightly-sour tasting bread called injera. Meant for sharing, the menu features large platters with entrees dancing with legumes, spices, onions, garlic and flavorful curries. Vegetarians will also find plenty of hearty options, and there is also a kid's menu available for the pint-sized adventurous eater.
