One of many feathers in the well-plumed hat of Iron Chef Jose Garces. From the cocktails to the Chinese 5-spice pork, this is one restaurant you'll want to hit up again and again. Warning: Addictions to the pork belly bao buns are likely to occur.

Really.....Disappointing – I was so excited to try Chifa. I've been a fan of Jose Garces and his restaurants for a while. My husband and I wanted to take my parents out for a night on the town. We were seated prompted, in the corner which had lack luster decor. (The dining room had wonderful ambience, we just didn't get seated in there)

We had ordered about 10-12 plates for the table. The tapa style plates arrived, in nice intervals, However, after we portioned out our rack of lamb dish, we realized it was cold, and the server did not come back to check on us for it to be sent back. She later came to clear our plates and offered a mediocre 'oh sorry, it shouldn't have been cold'. As I was filling out the comment card, the manager came and ask us how the meal was, after we told him about the lack luster service less then spectacular lamb, he offered us some free tapas cards for any GRG restaurant.

On a bright note, some memorable dishes were the Kobe tartare, the pork belly bao bun, and my husband liked the Thai sausage.

All in all, Chifa did not live up to Chef Garces' other establishments. A very disappointing thumbs down from this Philly foodie.

No reception – I was excited to finally try Chifa for brunch but was quickly let down. While the restaurant only had three tables seated there was a couple before us waiting. We waited and waited and waited. The server walked by us twice and never looked at us or made a "I will be right with you" comment. I could see the bartender behind the bar and another staff person in the back. After the wait we decided to go across the street to Jones where customers are happily greeted as they enter the door.

Peruvian and Cantonese cuisines marry in another twist on the Latin culinary landscape. – Jose Garces (of Amada fame) has big expectations to fill at this shrine to Peruvian and Chinese fare. Thankfully he delivers, with inventively amusing cocktails and the seamless combination of unusual ingredients. As is his custom, small plates rule, from ceviches to Latin-styled meat and seafood dishes snuggling next to noodles, rice and dim sum. The decor is also flashy, a showcase of deep reds, intricate blacks and Mediterranean blues that wind their way, dragon-like, to a mammoth chef's table and plush banquettes. A who's who of Philadelphia politicians, business and media types cross at this cultural epicurean splash.
