High-end Mexican in a casual, after-work-drinks type of environment, with specialty margaritas like jalapeño-cucumber and dinner highlights like pollo al Ajillo made with Jidori chicken.

Large portions, great cocktails, free parking, all important features in a restaurant downtown. Like the complimentary chips and salsa. But I still prefer it's sister restaurant Mercado in Santa Monica.

Unasumming Mexican food along an industrial stretch of Downtown LA. Solid food, fantastic chips and one hell of a margarita. Don't miss the pineapple flan!

Lovely industrial space with Dia de Los Muertos artwork. Great bar with an impressive Tequila selection. They also make a mean Michelada.

The evolution of Mexican food – If when you think of Mexican food the word "Crunch-wrap" enters your thoughts, this is not the place for you... On the other hand, if you want to have "grownup" Mexican food, Yxta offers a menu with little chance of going wrong.

Seeing the extensive tequila choices our night began with 2 Yxta Cadillacs. While sipping on them we were able to take in the decor, which was a combination of light & dark wood, unique lighting, and interesting art wrapped in an industrial look - with the exposed air conditioning work acting as a "tip of the hat" to the restaurant's warehouse district location.

As our dinner of Arrachera (marinated skirt steak) & Pollo en Mole Poblano was being fired up in the open kitchen, we were visited by Jesse, the owner. His family also owns El Arco Iris in Highland Park. Taking family recipes and putting his own interpretation on them, Jesse takes traditional Mexican food, adds splashes of the Yucatan and serves them in the style of a modern upscale restaurateur.

Dinner was great! Tender skirt steak paired with a housemade mole & cheese enchilada, rice & traditional black beans for me and chicken with mole poblano, rice & black beans for my date and two more fresh squeezed margaritas! Whatever you do, don't forget dessert or you'll miss out on the Capirotada which is the perfect punctuation!

Yxta serves notice to the restaurant world that the evolution of Mexican fare that started with restaurants like Frontera Grill & Javier's is in good hands.

Loving it!! A little GEM in Downtown – Went here for Lunch, and was pleasently surpirsed. The decor is great, and so is the food. Our server was very nice, and attentive. There was a nice bar area, that looks like it would be fun for after work drinks! We will definitely be coming back to Yxta!

Downtown gets a much-needed lift thanks to this Mexi eatery. – Despite being outside the main downtown circuit (read: L.A. Live), this Mexican eatery should easily attract even the moderately adventurous. Free evening parking in front makes it easy to visit, while the chic interior will appeal to both the cool crowd and casual diners. The large tiled bar is the only nod to Mexican decor, while exposed ceilings, unfinished brick walls and modern art provide a more upscale urban appeal. The menu is a mix of both familiar and exotic offerings--fish tacos, enchiladas and camarones rancheros are here, but they’re plated elegantly alongside grilled cactus and white rice instead of the more standard cheese-covered refritos. Mexican beers and jamaica margaritas are on offer as well as what is perhaps the city's best pineapple flan.

Editorial Review – Throw out your old, rundown idea of a fiesta--this bright, airy and blue downtown Mexican eatery is redefining the feisty night out with an array of more than 20 premium silver, reposado, and anejo tequilas to boot.
